Top 10 things I use in my craft: - Paper (loose or in books. 90% of the time it's a must) - Pen (I write and draw A LOT. Not always on paper but very often,) - Candles... they just work, I literally can't think of a way they wouldn't be useful and I'm also a very fiery person. - Chalice. I have one that has a removable cup for easier cleaning and I can use the cup for drinkable substances or remove it for substances and purposes that aren't drinkable. I can also remove the cup at the end of the ritual to use the empty chalice (or simply use the dry cup) as a candle snuffer when I'm running short on time. - Wand. A lot of people don't like to use wands but I find wands to be very helpful for concentration when I do things like draw symbols in the air or channel energy. I find the athame to be a little too... violent to be useful for things like attraction spells, for example. - Necklaces. They're good for pendulum replacements and can be switched out easily for different intentions. - Books. I forget things constantly due to trauma issues so having records of things and references to go back to is a must. I have found that I usually reference a book, either one I wrote in or one someone else wrote, before the vast majority of my rituals. The only exception is meditation, which is what I've worked on most. - Alphabet stones. I use "alphabet stones" here because not all alphabets are runes but I mostly use runes. I use runes mostly because I'm an Odinswoman, but also because they're more intuitive than the Tarot in my experience. It's to the point where I've made my own set of Hungarian runes for experimentation and now I want to make my own Norse runes. I've also considered experimenting with the Latin alphabet for divination purposes. - Jars, bottles, anything glass or plastic that's reusable. Useful for storing plants/herbs, making fairy jars, storing liquid, doing bottle spells, so many re-usable and sustainable uses. - My voice. This might not seem significant but as someone who has lost her voice before I can tell you, thinking vs vocalizing words bring very different results! I'm the kind of person who must at the very least whisper incantations, but if I get the chance I also vibrate, shout, sing, growl and recite poems, enns, mantras. If I ever lost my voice it would mean changing the nature of my craft.
New witch here, and I've apparently been saving jars in preparation for this, even though I had no idea at the time. I have always had trouble getting rid of jars!
I cannot live without candles, I used to be obsessed with candles before I started my practice and when I started my practice I had a reason to buy more and more I cannot stop burning candles it doesn't have to be incorporated in a spell all the time , I love them so much. Of course my book of shadows, my books , my tarot cards , my crystals , herbs . But is I had to chose only one type of item it is my candle. I believe that with only a candle and my energy I can do any possible working that I would ever need in my practice. Thank you for your video
My ten things are probably Book of shadows Travel altars Mason jars My closet(where I store everything since I'm not open about my practice) A pentacle necklace I made Mortar and pestle I stole from my mom Candles Gemstones My kitchen recipe book And a wicker basket for offerings
My ten items are Candles Crystals Grimoire My mini crockpot that I use as a couldren Herbs Jars!!! Essential oil burner Personal items Bowl and rock Mirror
Replying as I watch ✨ I'll do one with you! ✨✨ Your mortar and pestles is massive and I'm jealous lol ✨✨ The face you made when you opened your cauldron and saw incense ash in there still lol there's still incense in mine, too ✨✨ Hmm, I don't have a candle plate specifically but I do use just a regular plate for my kitchen. I like how it's translucent, though, so you can put things under it without ruining them with candle wax ✨✨ Jars! WITCHES LOVE A GOOD JAR ✨✨ I use a sharp little tool to carve my handles that actually goes with a hair accessory I have lol ✨✨ I don't have a chalice but I do have a really pretty crystal bowl I use. I love that it's handmade, though! It's gorgeous ✨✨ we stan tarot decks here, too lol ✨✨ I'll be honest, I don't tend to use my book of shadows or grimoire too much lol ✨✨ also, I now have a use for the whiteboard next to my desk in my office... ✨✨ that incense burner is massive and I need to get one lol ✨✨ This was a good video, Ari. I loved it! I can't wait to see what others share, too.
I enjoyed this! The comments as well. My 10 witchy things1) candles. First thing I do in the morning is light candles This leads to my meditation and grounding for the day 2) tea...is tea witchy? Can't live without it! 3) the witches wisdom tarot cards and mother of peace cards 4) my book of shadows. Kind of addicted to Journaling, art, collage poetry and information hoarding! 5) witchy books 6) jars and pots which are filled with all things I dry and mix 7) live plants 8) music by Enya 9) nag champa insence 10) fresh flowers.
I think mine since I haven’t gotten around to buying things are my book of shadows, tea, a lucky bracelet, books on witchcraft, ethereal music aka Celtic cross-over and so on, and my daily horoscope
My essential items: Tarot - for meditation and divination Candles - spells; meditation, cleansing Lantern - fire safety, allows outdoor practice, love the shadows it casts - I love it Incense - helps set the intention Crystals - help to adjust energies Pendulums - err I’ve a few not my strong point Book of Shadows - recording my journey and bits and pieces I collect Divination and shadow work book - record my readings and what actually happened so I can improve my readings. Record my shadow working, questions, answers the journey. Also record an messages left by deities I work with. Dream book - although I also record an insights from meditation in here as well, look for trends. Aromatherapy Book - record blends that work and recipes for everything from bath salts to body lotions Not strictly magical - but inks and felt tips - for BoS, illustrations, etc…
I love that you made your chalice! I think handmade items are such a nice touch. Anything from hand printed altar cloths; screen printing, linocut stamps, lovely simple apple cross section prints on fabric! Pottery and ceramics, like yours! Simple metal working (I’m a printmaker working in intaglio printmaking so I really want to etch a copper altar plate with hand drawn designs) … I mean I was knitting while watching this video, so that could be used to craft something!
Ya, I think grimoire is just general information and Book Of Shadows is what you practice, your path and information that relates to that. Basically personalized content!!
“Are you a witch without a jar or 2? “ lol I changed my candles to beeswax as they act much like sage in that they cleanse the room x also what’s the stone in your necklace?
Oh I like the idea of the beeswax for that. I've been looking into making my own candles (since I foresee using a lot of them...) and I will have to look into that.
Great idea using a chalkboard. 👍🏻I have some I made using chalkboard paint but I think actual slate would be my preference. Thank you for sharing about the shabu kit. I think I will invest in one for my practice. ☺️ I use a black mortar and pestle I purchased from Ikea here in the states a few years ago. I figured I could use it for scrying when I am ready. Currently I use it for it's original purpose. ☺️ When I do use it for scrying I plan to, what's the word, program or charge the water by communicating my intention. Perhaps I could use herbs as well. We'll see. ☺️ Anyway, great video.
just want to add to the jar part that you gotta stay allert when you do the candles in jars, if done incorrectly the jar can literally explode from the heath !
Hi Ari, I recentlyfound your channel and I am watching your old videos. I really enjoy watching what others use and see other versons of my tools. So thank you so much for sharing. Best regards, Lior
The jars 😂 yeah I have only just begun and already collecting jars. However, I feel scared to make candles in them, fire safety thing…. Are they all thick enough? Because I just begun, I don’t have many things yet as favourite objects. My info which I keep digital version, then print it bc it looks nicer to me. Crystals I love having with me and couldn’t do without. Tarot deck off course. Candles.
I don't follow a traditional witchcraft path, no. I read a lot of tradcraft literature, but I am a folk witch. I do have a small stang, but it isn't a big part of my practice at the moment!
