Satyrs are male; nymphs are their female counterparts, attributed with perfect beauty and endless libido (hence why female/male sex addicts were given the name nymphomaniac/satyromaniac respectively). But yes; succubi of Witcher lore appear to be more like that of nymphs than their usually more demonic archetypal attributes.

Nice video as always, but there is one detail I can’t help but point out. I’m reading the succubus entry from the Witcher 3 and it specifically says that they don’t care about gender or appearance. If they are sentient, have a like able personality, and can satisfy the succubus’s libido, they seem to be fair game.
@@AzureGreatheart I know that and I get that. Some demons were depicted like that to look like the satyrs who were know for their wild revelry. But Succubi aren't often depicted as such, as it is generally a detriment to their goal of getting some to have the goat legs. But in the Witcher world I guess guys are just super easy so they don't care.😂
Michael Molzan I think it’s mainly just the Witcher and Warcraft series which depict succubi like that. The only other major variation I’ve seen, (besides the original myth,) is their depiction in Final Fantasy XIV.

It does make sense to lure the males of a species with the mirage of a possible mate, animals like spiders and beetles mimic the female moths' pheromones and the female fireflies' light communication.

Witcher Lore? Nice. I just started a new play-through after binge-watching the show recently. A lot of new players from what I hear. I love the universe and lore of The Elder Scrolls better than The Witcher’s but the gameplay and graphics of The Witcher are so much better than TES. I wish CD Projekt Red was able to pull a Obsidian Entertainment and create a TES game but that is pretty much impossible. I feel like it would be the best TES game ever just how Fallout: New Vegas is the best Fallout ever.
just another account my friends and I liked it. It’s not perfect and I feel like it’s not for casual fans cause the story is confusing unless you know a bit about the universe already. They are taking a year or two off from making season 2 because the fan base is pretty split, mainly due to casting choices. They’re giving the show a huge overhaul once Season 2s filming starts which is soon. Only the main characters are staying. I’d say 6 or 7/10 from a basic rating.
Immagine CD projekt Red and Obsidian made a open world game together... Obsidian responsible for world building, additional game skripts and mechanics, and CD Projekt red responsible for character, npc & wildlife design. On the lore would both teams work. THAT would be the best game I can imagine!

I don't remember a succubus in the witcher 3...but it's been awhile. As long as you're doing hybrids though, you should look at a certain half-vampire half-succubus I know.
clericofchaos1 side quest. I know for a fact at least one of them was a witcher contract. I don't remember the details very well at all but I'll recall what few I can. For the one I think was in novigrad (or somewhere around there at least) she was a contract. I think the redanian military had men going missing or something. Later you find them piled up somewhere if I'm not mistaken with claw marks on their backs. Afterwards you find and confront the succubus who tells you she killed them in self defense. Now judging from the "claw marks" on their backs its clear in hindsight she was careless and drained the life energy from all of them. However I forgot that detail and let her live. Should have went for the dang succubus mutagen I was never able to obtain. The second one you meet during a sidequest on skellige. I can't remember the details but you track down her lair, a cave, with a man who I don't remember to well and confront her. When you get there she has a man with her who's basically her loverboy. She was sending him out to look for indigo flowers if I call correctly. Anyway apparently she had been sleeping with men in the area but she didn't like most of them and if I recall correctly she just left them dazed and confused and sent them on their way. However she let the aforementioned loverboy stay because he was nice and she liked him. So she didn't actually hurt anybody. Now it's at this point the dude you went there with is having none of it and doesn't believe her so he wants to slay her and here you make the choice of who to side with. Of course I sided with the succubus and afterwards she doesn't seem super grateful and treats geralt as if he only saved her to get in her proverbial pants. She also comments only ow she doesn't sleep with witchers because they smell like blood and its nasty. If I remember right your actual reason for tracking her down is to get a flower or something But I don't remember anything beyond that. Anyway hope this jogs your memory.
@@DragonGunzDorian she killed them in novigrad because while she agreed to sleep with them, she didnt agree to a group event and when she said so, they tried to force it. So she panicked and killed them.
Why did they gave the Succubus the "Mage Fire Ball thing" fighting Animation? When its saied they attack with thier Nails/Legs/etc.? Was it Time, Recources?
Sometimes I'd get off the boat to snatch some underwater loot. I'd snag a couple of mermaids with my OP crossbow while swimming. Then, strangely, upon surfacing, all the mermaid corpses would still have their glamours active. That is to say, a bunch of dead beauties floating around. Probably an oversight by the devs?

With all this resurgence of the Witcher 3 and Witcher series in general I was hoping you'd do another Witcher lore video, and you delivered. I hope there is more to come, great video.
Succubi could have lizard tails, harpy wings, or even just look entirely human. But goat legs and horns? No. Those are definitely satyrs/fauns, or maybe even onoskelis, but not succubi. Sorry Witcher, but you fucked up.
I'm curious about the reproductive cycle of creatures like this. Mono gendered species like sirens, mermaids and even drowners would need some manner to keep their numbers from falling into extinction.
