@@justthatmoviedirectorguy85 Wouldn't really call it blown up yet, at least not to the degree that I think it should be. She's fantastic in both serious and more auidence-friendly roles. That is a rare quality.
@@justthatmoviedirectorguy85 Exactly. She's well known on tv, but her venture onto the "silver screen" hasn't been frequent. I think this is her first huge big budget full screen movie role. At least that I can recall.
I hope she gets the right amount of attention to ensure that she can have a nice life while also being considered for the best female roles. She has much better range than most a-list actresses in her age group and should be treated and paid accordingly.
@@jesuswesleyramirez4165 This sentence doesn't even make sense. Can you please just shut the fuck up and not respond if you can't do it in a coherent manner?
@@humphrey4976 To me the best effects are when VFX is used to enhance practical effects. Trying to use VFX on its own often looks fake. The two should be used hand in hand, so I have so much respect for the hard working people that produce those practical effects. Thank you for your work on this film!
I saw The Last Duel, found her really good, precise, dignified, calm, and then i saw her as Vilanelle and I fell in love, her range is fucking incredible
I can see why this film wasnt for everyone because it was a very brutal film. But it was a awesome movie. Each of them did their characters so well. Plus it shows what happens in real life quite often. Despite it being the same situation, you get three different takes from it. Because each take, is very different despite going on the same basic line.
Great interview with good info, and some unintended humor... "shows like... 'I Ate Suzie'. 'I Hate Suzie' not I ate..." "Sorry lost my H then. My Scouse jumped out." 😆 So talented, so intelligent, and SO adorable at the same time. Gotta love Jodie!
When I first saw The Duelists (1977) I was totally blown away by what Scott did in that true dueling story. I kept thinking almost every gorgeous scene was framed or painted by an 18th-century artist. He has done it again with The Last Duel.
Reading the book first. So far it’s very in depth about the history and social structure of medieval Europe United under a king but still pretty much chaos among feudal classes in a time there were only 3 “estates”. Those that fought, those that pray, those that work.
Jodie Comer was definitely the star of this film, especially against talents like Driver, and Damon she held her own. She filled this role so well, and she delivered a great performance. PS. I was reading in her bio that she's from Liverpool, is that a common accent there? It sounds very Scottish.
Her actual accent is a lot stronger and very clearly scouse, but when she does interviews she most often softens her accent and Americanises it so that people can understand her 🤣
That is a tough situation given the content! I imagine your professionalism and your seriousness of the scene would sharpen your senses and understanding what you’re conveying to the audience will allow these actors/actresses to execute this in the best way possible while remaining decent to one another and respectful to each other as well. It was an important scene because THIS act is the premise behind the entire production, as well as this scene will subjugate the audiences feelings on the rest of the film. I thought it was daring and intriguing as well as TRAGIC ! The utmost tragic. It was well executed by both male and female actors
@UCtQiUXkspYMwrJaAbEJj9yg ohh piss off you pretentious twat. Not everyone MUST have the exact same taste as you. The guy gave his personal opinion on his favourite directors and that’s your response. Embarrassing.
A brilliant film. I recommend anyone to watch it. All the actors were exceptional. Never heard Damon or Driver speak anything but awe and respect for Comer.
yeah this movie was great. If you haven't seen it go support your local theater and watch it. So that way we aren't stuck with with endless super hero movies on streaming sites. its a fresh original movie that was great to watch.
I am so disappointed Jody won’t be playing opposite Joaquin Phoenix in Ridley Scott’s kit bag !! She is just a lovely and extremely talented actress !!
I just watched "The Last Duel" last night for the first time. Now it's one of my favorite movies of all time. What a brilliant story, picture, acting, directing, music... just such a well done film in every way. Bravo, Ridley Scott!
Exactly. It was so hard for me to watch, too. I knew it was gonna happen but still. It was really hard to watch, almost nauseating even.. Great question to ask! I wanted to know whether Jodie felt safe and supported in that scene. I'm so glad to hear she felt safe💝
Anytime there is on film a scene of violence to a woman, a child, or an animal, it is largely in the hands of the director , to decide the tenor & tone of such scenes. I would have an total trust in Ridley Scott----------hands down. --------------------MJL, 75 y/o
I Will watch anything with Adam,.just all i get on ..Tv,theatre,big screen,,anything and Beeing happy to watch iz..❤❤❤❤❤Last duel wouldnt be as half good without him,my credit to others of course..but as i Said..not without Adam...Rape scene is so real from both sides
Have you never watched”Girls”? Seeing him moan is not new. The tremble was though. Oddly enough, he seemed to enjoy the climax more than Adam Sackler ever did. Maturity I guess.
I don't know why you would have to hope he didn't "enjoy it", if the actress made it very clear that it was a safe working environment, with these strictly choreographed scenes and that Adam Driver was very respectful.
@@ikateeo if being against rape or other forms of sexual violence in any shape or form is being "woke", then color me the wokest motherfucker in the western hemisphere. You're absolutely right about calling these dickwads braindead
A bit misjudged, but he was already eating before the question was asked. He probably didn't realise he was on camera, and knew the question was for Jodie. They have to sit for hours and be asked the same questions over again by lots of journalists, and have to snack when they can. Bit bad timing, but he's an old man, lol. He does look genuinely engaged as Jodie starts talking.
