In this tutorial you will learn how to eliminate zip bulge on a dress that has no waist joining/half cut, you will apply the 3 Basic darts in order to make your curves visible.
@@patriciauduakabasi6665 it's because of the but size that 0.5inch I added was for butt ease because the model wearing the dress has a big butt and is curvy so If your own model is not so curvy it is not so important but if your model is on the big side you will need that ease.
@@beeyouteefulwears No Ma/sir it depends on the breast size. Ladies with very small breast may go for just 1" French dart and ladies with bigger breasts may take up to 2" or more, French dart. So in summary I am saying that it all depends on the size of the breast.
@@stitchesbyesterna83 thank you so kindly for your response..I'm working on a dress. Client's back and front difference is 4". I'm at a loss as to whether or not to remove all 4". Especially because, since we aren't cutting out the bust dart, it will be so much dart fabric of 4" inside the dress.
Well done Ma, Pls why did you add 1.5 two times? 1.5 was removed for zip bulge and it was replaced at the hip at 3.5 down but you added another 1.5 at the hem. Pls help to clarify. Thank you
@@racheloluwasola3889 I removed 1.5 on the front pattern as the side/bust/French dart and replace it back at the hem line so that the dress length will not short .
@@racheloluwasola3889 I also removed 1.5 on the back pattern to eliminate the zip bulge and also replaced it back on the hem line so the dress will not become short. If you notice the length of the dress is 40 and if you don't replace it back you may have 40 in front length and 38 at the back length, hence the replacement.
@@racheloluwasola3889 The 1.5 inch was not replaced at the hip at 3.5. watch again and see it, it was replaced at the hem line. What was replaced at 3.5 inches below the hip was just half an inch, and the reason is because of the size of the butt.
@@tosinabikoyeoyeniyi8595 zip bulge works for everybody as long as you have breast and butt, but the 0.5 slash that is added below the butt is mainly for people who are curvy. If you are not so curvy and your butt is not big then there will be no difference even if you don't add it.
@@shimisonterakaa6324 personally I do this when I am sewing a dress with a joining at the waist but when a dress doesn't have any joining at the waist, I do as I've explained in the above tutorial. There is no harm in trying out something new, fashion is about creativity so try you ideas out and let's see the outcome, I will appreciate if you give me feedback after trying it out.
I have an observation maam. I cut exactly as you explained but realized the zip allowance area was longer by half inch. So i realized instaead adding back 1 and half inch,we add o inch as the pther half was imserted in d butt area...tnk you
@@ChinnyNwankwogu-sx9rg The butt size matters and how curvy the shape of the model also matters so base on the butt size of the model it was necessary to add the half inch, so if it works for you without the half inch then that's good the most important thing in this tutorial is to remove the zip bulge and the half inch is because of the butt size, so how about the zip bulge? Did you get it accurately or you still had a bulge after sewing? This feedback is also important to me and it will encourage me for more tutorials. Thanks a lot
@@edimapeter5750 personally I have NOT made the underbust v waist gathered gown before, but supposing, I am to make the dress for someone I will definitely remove the zip bulge to get a perfect fit. So go ahead and try it out. A zip bulge is something you must remove on a dress to get a perfect fit. So my answer is a yes.
@@stitchesbyesterna83 ok I mean that, the front shoulder to waist is 16 and back is 14inches .so meaning 2inch difference at the back but again you took 1.5 as the waist dart from bulging.
@@rubymac207 okay now I understand you, but first I think you didn't pay attention to this particular video because the shoulder to waist in this tutorial is 17 and the back is 16 and in it, I did a detailed explanation on both the front and the back and why the back is always longer than the front and how the 17" in front will align with the back length. This very tutorial is detailed, I suggest you watch it again because the question shows you didn't pay attention while watching it. Front is 17 and back is 16, then the zip bulge is 1.5 all these are explained in details in the tutorial.
Weldone ma but the bust dart you took in front is 1.5 and the length for the back is 16 while front is 17 it means you add extra half inche to the bust dart.@@stitchesbyesterna83
It's a standard but there are exceptions. Looking at the model in the video, she is big and curvy but there are people who are so thin, little butt and little breasts, they are not curvy, they have a straight figure, so for such people you go with just 1inch. In essence I am saying how curvy you are, determines the bulge on the zip. 1.5 works for 85% of people . So I suggest you try it out on your body type and another person bigger than you. But one thing is for sure there must be a bulge of either 1inch or 1.5 inches to remove on a dress depending on your body shape.
