A much under appreciated band, her voice is spectacular and they have been around forever putting out good music but they seem to be highly unknown somehow.

Within Temptation has been around for more than 20 years, and they have evolved some. They were considered one of the main symphonic metal bands, along with Nightwish, Epica, and Delain. The 2014 album this is from had several collaborations on it. Their most recent work has gotten more industrial. Their latest album is one that I consider one of the top 5 albums of the year, though some of their newest videos are made by AI, which I still consider a bit odd.

I always like the funfact about Within Temptation giving Xzibit a call about a collaboration back then,and Xzibit werent really having it,but after the call curiousity still struck him,he searched them up on RU-vid and every video he pulled up: Several million views. Xzibit was immediately like "Oh sh*t!" and then he called them back up and accepted. He probably thought they were a "nobody" type of band,trying to use him to catapult into fame and stardom. Xzibit was still on many peoples lips back then,so he had a bit of an ego right then and there. It kind of says quite abit of the former "MTV Pimp My Ride" host. I think i would be postive towards anyone reaching out asking for a collaboration in music,its always a win win as supporters on both sides most likely will back the collab,and some even discover the other artist for the first time. Within Temptation is notoriously known for reaching out to talented,underrated and up and coming artists and bands now. Using theyr own massive popularity to give other artists a boost. Even theyr guitarist Ruud Jolie collabed with the Ukrainian band Scarleth,i believe they shot this video just in front of the sad conflict thats happening there now,and doesnt seem to ever end,wich has had Within Temptation full of emotions be very political on Twitter,encouraging the leaders to end the conflict,thinking of theyr friends they have connected with,also suffering under the conflict. I know Scarleth and other bands for the longest were given strict rules about not being able to perform live nor do music. (Scarleth - Pain Is My Name (feat. Ruud Jolie) (Official Video) If you ever want to check them out,theyr sound is very international,2 women (1 on lead vocals,the other on keyboards) and 3 guys forms the band Scarleth. I loved them the moment i started listening to them,actually way before the Within Temptation collab. Eventhough it was only 1 member from WT,all the members loves Scarleth and it was therefor they turned so emotional on Twitter. Just proves that Within Temptation doesnt shy away from being "humanitarians",using theyr fame and popularity for what its worth,for a greater good. Theyr lyrics doesnt really follow a pattern for me,i feel like 1 song is far away from the other in regards to lyrics. They also switch up theyr sound for each album i feel like,if anything the songs on an album might be the only ones having the same "vibe" although entirely different.

The plugs in their arms & the chair he's in has always given me a bit more of a Matrix vibe, which is reinforced by the fact he's in black & white until he breaks out. Also the bird being in color feels like him glimpsing the real world, which inspired him to break out.

I'd love to see you react to Within Temptation featuring Tarja Turinen "Paradise" (What About Us?) Would also love to see more symphonic metal. (Temperence "The Last Hope in a World of Hope or anything by Amaranthe)

More Within Temptation please! The new album is such a masterpiece!

Sharon is one of my favorite vocalist especially Live. I can't recommend Within Temptation enough you should listen to more of their back catalogue you will not be disappointed, Sharon is one of the most versatile singers I've ever heard. Songs I recommend Angels, The Reckoning, Faster, Let Us Burn and Shot in the Dark.

One of my favorite bands and vocalists, they have such amazing collaborations like that one with Dave Pirner from Soul Asylum in the song The Whole World Is Watching. ❤

Next collaboration Sharon and Tarja, What about us. First the great video and next to prove their quality and versatility the live version from Masters of rock 2019.

The band said they wanted Xzibit to do a track w/ Within Temptation... but their managers lost it when they were told. When fans heard that Within Temptation was doing 'And we run' in 2014, there was a big groan... But it shocked everyone by becoming a hit single in Europe. Rapper Xzibit said he had never heard of Within Temptation and had to Google them... but he checked out their music and contacted them and finally agreed to do the track and wrote the rap verses... I think he was really happy w/ how the music video turned out for him as well.

@Rayactions: This song has the word "defiance" as the vibe. As in, everything you've been led to believe is a lie, and that the truth has purposely been hidden from you. It's why there is the line about leaving and not looking back. Believe it or not, this isn't the first time Sharon and Within Temptation touch upon these kinds of themes. The song Truth Beneath the Rose also is about finally not believing the lies you've been told, albeit religious lies. This is one of my all-time favorite songs, and whether the studio track or the 2008 Black Symphony live performance, you can't go wrong with Within Temptation. But that's not all. Within Temptation is also amazing at coming up with songs to keep people fighting the battles they may be fighting, especially internal, mindset-type battles. My favorite song in that theme? Iron. And again, it doesn't matter studio track or live performance, Within Temptation delivers.

I just finished watching another reaction video to this song before I clicked on yours and the dude in that video spent well over twenty minutes nitpicking everything he could think of that was wrong with Sharon's singing. It's pretty hard to find videos where the reactor appreciates the beauty in Sharon's voice like you did. I hope you do more reactions to Within Temptation because they have released so many fantastic songs over the past 27 years.

I loved the story about how this collab came together. I believe, unmentioned below, they sent him the track with empty spots for him to fill with whatever rap verses he came up with and this is the result. Could be misinformed, but to my knowledge they didn't give him lyrics. This is by far the best example I've ever heard of a rock/metal band featuring an unaffiliated mainstream rapper and the whole thing working smoothly. Yes, bands exist with a rapper as a part of the band, but I'm talking people who never shared a space before. As a counterpoint I'd recommend Maroon 5's Payphone ft. Wiz Khalifa, a travesty in the making. WK made his part all about himself instead of complimenting the song, so the radio edit of the song is leagues better than the collab. In "And We Run" Xzibit's parts flowed perfectly into the track and added some punch to those moments. In Payphone, Wiz Khalifa's transition is like listening to vinyl on your home player and find your record is gouged. It's a jarring shift, devoid of cohesion or compliment. Straight ego trip, easily my least favorite music-featuring-a-rapper so far.

This song is kinda like that band which name I saw somewhere: *THE RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE* And I'm pretty sure those nodes that Xzibit has - that's "Matrix" reference. He's been a slave to The System, but he decided to defy it and live for himself. Also whenever someone is reacting to Sharon's voice - the word "angelic always finds its way in somehow. Can't imagine why, right? ;) She's perfect for this song and Xzibit is perfect too.
