Fun fact. Supernova is a final stage of life of a supermassive stars. When they run out of hydrogen and helium to synthesize, they no longer can emit enough light to stop their own mass from collapsing. Their outer layers fall on the core, which results in a catastrophic explosion, which can demolish any star system unlucky to be too close. I hear Betelgeuse, barely 4 light years away, is gonna enter its supernova stage soon. But luckily it's far enough not to seriously harm us. Normally the star after supernova explosion turns into a white dwarf which slowly cools down and becomes a black dwarf. But if the star in question is massive enough, it may change into a magnetar, an object with magnetic field strong enough to literally tear apart anything that comes too close. Or even worse, a black hole, an object with gravity so massive that even light cannot escape it. In this music video the band is on a Mars-like planet orbiting what looks like a red supergiant star. And towards the end of the video that star is getting brighter and brighter until in a final scene of the music video the red supergiant enters its supernova stage and explodes.
Then also checkout Epica (with Simone, Consign to Oblivion duet with Floor) and Delain (unfortunately broken up this year, but Charlotte..., Masters of the Universe...damn)... All Dutch. I blame it on the water...
You can't buy the album until you react to the music video for "The Reckoning" - it will blow your mind. On your own time, you might want to check out Sharon and Ruud doing an acoustic version of Supernova ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nvBB8zZzyT8.html
Sharon actually wrote this about her dad, who passed away the year before this song came out. With the "supernova" she refers to wanting a sign from a loved one that they are ok out there in the afterlife. Beautiful lyrics, great song as well. For more context, they actually made a video on the story behind the song: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-smfHfkg1ip8.html You should definitly buy the album! It is an absolute masterpiece. "In Vain" and "Mercy Mirror" from it are also very solid, there's literally not a bad song on there :)
They don't have a single bad or boring song. That's the most impressive about them imo. Sure, some are "just good" or "pretty okay" but overall quality is so high you could just go through the whole discography :D
