Psychological and physical reasons, different countries of origin, political affiliations, being high tier in war thunder or having a spouse can ruin that.
A few hours to have fun in a sim and fly whenever you wish vs dedicating years of your life to the military.. I’m still going to join the Airforce personally but I get why people do it.
Don't make it a habit to unsafe the trigger that early. With the Rb05 it activates the battery that only has about 40 seconds of battery life. With rockets and bombs you shouldn't unsafe until you have the dot on your target or you'll get inaccurate range data.
@@jaxolan9463 You are mistaken, stick with DCS, obviously Starfox is too complicated for you Steer/Aim: LS. Shoot Lasers: A. Shoot Bomb: B. Lock-On: Hold A, then release after locking on. Tilt Right: R. Tilt Left: ZL. Brake: RS (down) or X (hold for longer effect) Boost: RS (left) or Y (hold for longer effect)
@@golfkid333 Oh man, you guys do train 15,000 to play a game instead of joining the airforce. Wow is DCS hard. Realistic, but hard. I know too little, your understanding is beyond my understanding
@@StupifiedTrooperif you have a VR headset VTOL VR is the game for you. It keeps the realistic feeling of DCS and is only slightly more complicated than warthunder.
I remember doing this in Microprose F-117 sim back in the day. From memory, it was: 1. Press F2 to cycle HUD to ground targets. 2. Press Space to cycle weapons to select Maverick. 3. Press / to look at targets in the forward arc. 4. Press B to cycle through available ground targets to find the mission target. 5. Wait until you're in range and get the LOCK indicator. 6. Press 8 to open bay doors. 7. Press Enter to fire the Maverick. 8. Press 8 to close bay doors before you're detected by radar. Such fond memories!
the jets youd fly now are way easier to use, most modern jets can go into autopilot, lock the target from miles away due to better targeting pods and then just fire
@@nightfall1249my point being that this process is ridiculously complicated compared to using Mavericks in the A-10, not that it's better for attacking modern SAM systems.
Dang it!!! I overflew the target again setting up. Now what thingamajig do I do what with the thingamabob? What do I do with the whatchamacallit that connects to the whoozits doodad?🤔
The Viggen is a 1960s jet and the mavricks are a 1970s weapon. the Viggen is a really old aircraft that wasnt meant to use these weapons so its a miracle that engineers found a way to get them to work in the first place
This is Why Dcs pilots most of them are simmers not gamers..that make sense....if u just wanna play..u have ace combat..for kids...War thunder for teenagers...and if u love so much realism..u have all mature ppl in Dcs World 😂❤
For anyone saying this is too much alot of the steps here you don't have to use to fire the Mavericks all you gotta do really just adjust contrast and brightness and turn your ep13 on and lock and fire
everyones always like “man this takes forever” but 1. IRL youve got 2 hands and can easily do this in maybe 5 seconds tops 2. thats.. the point. Mavericks are long range air-to-ground missiles. They’re not rockets. They’ve gotta be fired from looooong way away.
8ish nautical miles is not looong way away when going 500-900 knots. That's 54 seconds at 500 knots and 30 seconds at 900. Mavricks can be extremely stressful to use if you don't have targeting pod. Even in the F16, between the time you can see anything in the mav camera and you are within range of enemy AAA and manpads are just a few seconds.
This is why I'm never playing DCS way too much shit to do, and way too much information to learn, too realistic for a game. Which I get is the point is tactical realism and simulator but I'm interested in aviation but not enough to buy hand books and learn every little thing about every aircraft guess I'll just stick to war thunder 😂
Nah you don’t. The viggen can do mavs against targets of opportunity. In this case the QFE is used to show the target (big hollow circle) in the HUD correctly but you can do without that
DCS: Read an entire flight manual after getting it translated from Swedish to English, and have to basically reread it in flight even in the middle of combat. War Thunder: Select Primary weapon, Select AGM-65 Maverick, Press V, find target with targeting scope, press “weapon lock (air-to-ground)”, blinks for a moment before the scope locks, fire. Hyper realism against arcade realism
There has to be a faster way to do this lol In real life. Because jets move fast and are targets for SAMs so the pilot can't be BS ing around with buttons while flying straight.
How low below normal stall speed can a viggen fly in wing in ground effect, like say, 10ft altitude, and would that be more fuel efficient then a faster speed at 500ft? I just always wanted to have an excuse to say wiggin my viggin😏
The Viggen is a difficult aircraft to master. SAAB does things their own way. He makes it look simple, but just the phrase "navigate to the target" is a whole separate procedure.
Correction: You do not need QFE to fire mavericks at all. QFE is only needed for rocket/bomb delivery with no radar ranging used, e.g. nav/radar/toss modes.
