First 5 minutes I had trouble connecting the sensor, but then it just worked. No problems. Maybe you had the advanced option on for manual control? I set that to 0 minutes.
I bought two of these and they work fine. I was worried they wouldn't work with the smart plugs since noone seems to test them with anything other than the lights. Setting them up in the app was a bit confusing.
I'm having the same exact experience with this Wiz's Motion Sensor issue. Although, it sort of "worked" when I have to do some customs by reducing the "Delay" down to 5 min instead of 30 min...And you need to face the motion away from you to somewhere nonmovement...Then just turn off the light (via the app) and wait past 5 min or so...Then you start fiddle around in front of the motion detection then it'll light up and remain on for 5 min then it'll turn off. Then you can repeat the test again. Although, I don't like how it is designed. I would expect the motion sensor to constantly inform me the state of whether there's MOTION or NON-MOTION regardless of timing -- and treat it as just a simple INPUT. And for setting up the Action-wise, You can decides how should the OUTPUT device behaves for some duration of time (by turning LIGHT on, Strobing, or which ever effects -- or even sound alarm), or add options for Notification when there's a motion detected. It need to treat it as if it's the Button as an INPUT -- same concept for Motion Sensor. Anyway, that's the design I would pay for...Although, it's not.

Have you come across an outlet light switch with a timer and motion sensor? For example “ON” from 6pm-11pm then turns off and goes into “motion sensor” only turning on when it sense someone near it? Is there a light that can handle both programmed time and sensor?
There's nothing I'm aware of that does that natively. It sounds like for your use-case you might want to consider a Home Automation controller like Home Assistant and a Motion Sensor that works well with it. From there it would be simple to setup Timer lighting and motion lighting to your desired schedules.
You’re better to invest in either Google or Apple ecosystem but with matter it should work in both. I am invested in Apple now and previously Google. HomeKit is simply far more superior. Get hue lights and bridge and be done with it. Trying to find alternative cheaper solution leads you down a deep rabbit hole and frustration.. I’ve been there.
Wishing I’d seen this before buying from Bunnings. Will see if I can return, threw out packaging… My fault. Have the Hue motion sensor in operation and does what I want.
It's been a while since I looked at the unit and returned it.... seems like Wiz's own support documentation for the product is also garbage.... it's disappointing.
Hey bro, im from argentina and i buy this motion sensor and i hade a lot problems with the app and the sensor. I couldn´t conect with alexa but at least i was able to get it to turn off the lights on its own. Too bad it looks like a good product but doesn't work properly. Abrazo hermano
Initially it didn't work for me as in your video, went away and ignored it for about 10 minutes (to watch your video) and started to sense my motion at least 1 meter away.
Why did you assume compatibility in the first place? It’s like saying “I’m unhappy it doesn’t support HomeKit or Matter or anything else”. They never claimed that. Honestly many other sensors just work with their own brand of bulbs within their apps. Unless it’s advertised as working in a smart system I wouldn’t expect it to work. I’m not saying this is a great device. I’ve really just seen bad reviews of it and I’m sure those are genuine opinions, like yours. I just think some of that was based off of incorrect assumptions and expectations. At the end of the day, the ultimate question is.., does it do, reliably, what it claims to. Does it turn on the wiz lights? Does it turn them off? Wiz now has RoomSense. It would be worth to test which of these is better and more reliable. What the application options are. I missed some depth to the review. Like does it recognize daylight/night time difference? Reliable distance from router? Angle of detection. Distance of detection. Erroneous behavior. I think you can do better, should there be a next time. Keep up the good work.
Never Assumed anything. Had been asked the question a number of times, and was curious myself, so I tested it. Never even managed to get it to work with wiz lights, but I've been advised this may be because you have to wait for the outrageously long 6 minute timeout.
First off thank you for the great videos its too bad I didnt watch it first before buying this crap ? You are 100% correct Sir with your conclusion! I wanted to get a motion sensor to trigger a plug (receptacle) thinking this was a great option. I did the exact same thing as you did in your video with these products (sensor and smart plug though not light ) here in Canada and got the exact SAME RESULT you did ,nothing working on the sensor !!! The APP is set up "terrible" also and NOT user friendly whatsoever. I only had a smart plug already entered into the app whick seemed to work ok but when I inputted the sensor it did not work period. I also am returning this product I give this TWO THUMBS DOWN! By the way dont they smoke ALOT of pot in the Netherlands where this software was developed???? Come on signify?
Apparently you have to wait for the timeout before it'll even trigger natively connected devices..... 6 or 12 minutes is a ridiculous timeout for a motion sensor.
Totally get where you're coming from, and You're not wrong. I should've spent more time on it and given it a more complete test. Would it have changed my mind on recommending them? No. - 6 or 12 minutes timeout on motion sensing is WAY too long. - to have it selected with a hardware switch is just plain weird. - The price is too high and there's nothing compelling about it. - better, cheaper options are readily available. For the record, my process has changed a fair bit now to prevent this kind of issue, and I tend to live with a device for at least a day before finishing the video.
Your review is trying to do something that this was never intended to do and your testing methodology is completely broken to begin with. This is NOT a Google Home device, this is NOT a WiFi device. This device does exactly what it was designed to do and seems to work pretty well using it as it was designed to work. I usually like off the wall reviewers with honest opinions but you just seem like someone that doesn't understand how things work and blames it on others when you can't figure it out.
If it works great for you in your home, that's awesome! But I have to ask, Did you bother to watch the whole video? Or just cherry pick the part where I tried to see if I could use it with an alternate method? Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I take exception to the judgement that I'm someone who doesn't understand how things work and am blaming someone else for it. I'm fully aware of my own shortcomings and when they're to blame for something not working, and I don't think this is one of those times. I followed the manufacturer instructions and the thing didn't work at all, not even as the manufacturer intended, so tell me again how I'm to blame for it not working? Sure, maybe I got a bad unit and could've tried a replacement, Maybe I'll get a different result if I do! But I think getting a bad unit also speaks to a quality control problem at the factory, so the tests are still valuable. At the price point, it's too expensive to a) not work as the manufacturer intends b) be locked into a single ecosystem, and c) have poor quality assurance out of the factory Especially when there's cheaper PIR Motion sensors readily available that work flawlessly, and use a more accessible standard like Zigbee. Therefore - for MY use cases - it's not worth the time or money.
@@HiveMindAutomation I did watch the entire video. You haphazardly tried to use a device you had no idea of what it was or its intended purpose. You based your opinions on what you thought the product should do instead of what the product stated it would do. That is your problem and not the products problem. I do understand this product does not fit your desired use but it never claimed to do that. I agree it does seem a little pricey for what it does. a) It does work as the manufacturer intends. b) It is only supposed to work within its own ecosystem as is stated by the manufacturer c) seems to have fine quality assurance by everything I see (except your video) For your use case this is not the product for you but that does NOT make this a bad product. It is your bad decision to try to do something with this product that it wasn't designed to do and then blame it on the product. In the future I would recommend you review products based on the product and what it was designed to do and not what you wish it would do.
Respectfully, I think you're missing the point I'm trying to make. I DID try to use it as the manufacturer intended before trying anything else, and I couldn't get it to work at all. Most - if not all of my product review videos follow a similar format where I try it out using the manufacturer setup first, then try it out with Home Assistant. Attempting to use it directly through Home Assistant was secondary, I'm not blaming the device for not supporting it, I was curious if it would work through another mechanism. Sorry if that didn't come across in the video. What I AM blaming the device for is: 1) not working at all in the native configuration when I tested it 2) the poor documentation from the vendor and 3) some weird decisions made by the engineering team Other comments suggest I was just impatient and needed to wait for the timeout to expire and it would've worked after that. The manufacturer documentation mentions nothing about needing to wait for the timeout before it'll start working with the native app, which is shortsighted at best. I also think a hardware switch defined timeout between 6 or 12 minutes is - at best - a questionable design feature, where most other PIR Motion sensors will return to "Clear" after about 60 seconds. Again, if it works for you and your use case, that's awesome. Personally, I expect a LOT more at that price point.
@@HiveMindAutomation I wouldn't know about poor instructions as I didn't find it necessary to consult them because it was so easy to set up. It worked perfectly first try for me and only took a couple of clicks and I was done. The 6/12 minute thing is a little limiting but it does what it says it does. But yes, you are entitled to your own opinion.
in fairness it's possible I just got a bad one, but I still don't think they're worth the money even if they did work as it seems I can't make use of them outside of the Wiz ecosystem.
Why? Bother your time on this junk.. I got a few motion sensors over the years. My experience is avoid any sensor that is not Zigbee and Alexa and Google Assistant certified. I started Xiaomi and Aqara Zigbee back in 2017. Nothing matched them until I examined micro alternative one off import from AliExpress. A tiny unobtrusive Tuya Micro PIR and it is amazing. It was SO Good and responsive I ordered 14 of them from AliExpress snd placed them all throughout the house for total light control. At $7.95 including a micro coin battery it was a steal. Its performsnce is undeniably excellent. There is a slightly more expensive Tuya micro of same type with Lux, Humidity and Temp for $12.95 AUD. It also works in HA and LOCAL.

It's entirely possible I didn't get a bad sensor at all. some things I've learnt in the months since I initially did this review: - after pairing to the native Wiz app, you have to wait for the timeout of 6 or 12 minutes to expire before it will activate anything...... 6 minutes is too long for a motion sensor timeout, 12 is outrageous. - even if I'd waited for this, it wouldn't have worked with Home Assistant. it's available ONLY to the Wiz EcoSystem. And lastly something I pointed out in the review - There's PLENTY of cheaper motion sensors available that work perfectly fine with Home Assistant. I appreciate the feedback, and completely agree that I kinda dropped the ball on this review. The reality is I was stressed out about getting something done, and I didn't spend nearly enough time researching before hitting record. Not making excuses, just trying to communicate what happened. At the end of the day, I still won't recommend this unit. Too pricey, too limited.
It's a disappointing product...... From what I've learnt since releasing the video, it requires waiting the timeout period to pair to the native app..... 6 or 12 minutes is ridiculously long for a timeout. There's better sensors for less money.
Sorry bud but this was a very badly done review. You do not even know if your 2.4 GHz network runs well you say but still claim it is the product that is not good? Hmm. You really did not even install the product to see how t works in the real world, just click click, tap tap, move a hand, does not work, the end. So much for a proper review.
