I remember this game, It was so hard! The late game really tried your multi-tasking skills. I kinda really want to re-play it now.

This game and the Lands of Lore series were like playing inside of a dream. Pure magic. W&W was one of the first real 3d rpgs fullu fledged. Graphics weren't the best but the immersion was still superb. And with DW Bradley's multi-classing system akin to Wizardry, the character customizations were endless.

I still play it today. It's challenging and deep. Todays fast-food enthusiasts will look like a pig into a clockwork.

@Karakta Glad to hear you're playing Wizardry 8. The game can take a while to get into (for example, I know I struggled at first to wrap my head around the awesome class system), but once you "get it" there are few RPGs which offer as deep or as satisfying an RPG experience as W8 does.

Waah! I think I might have tossed my copy along time ago cuz I cant find it now. I still remember and loved that disgusting hobbit guy who enjoyed rat pies (Bilbub?). I also really liked the 'DM' narrator when exploring dungeons.

@Dominuzzz Sorry, I'm not in the business of throwing around game files like that. Might upload a complete OST playlist to RU-vid at some point, though, (as I did with the rare Dune 1 soundtrack, which was apparently much appreciated) if I don't find them anywhere else on this site.

Are there a second title of that game? Or a third?! It could be awesome with modern graphics and multi-language. Love it when i had 10 :)

@DWTerminator As far as party-based PC RPGs go I was pretty late to the party as well. The subgenre have always been part of my gaming life in some form or other (with Dungeon Master 2 as well as the amazing Betrayal at Krondor being notable early experiences), but it was only two years ago when I recorded my Let's Play of Wizardry 6 (and 7) that I began spending a lot of time exclusively with old school party-based PC RPGs. But yeah, the world desperately need Wizardry on GOG.

I've actually just started again, ironworks forum still has the patches. virtualdub to change the town mask.avi files. Open them with the program, and then save them in old format and you'll be able to click everywhere.

@CrackaStoleMyBoat This game doesn't play nicely on *anything* (except maybe Windows 2000 or whatever it was designed for), but this clip was recorded on a Vista machine so it should be playable. Have only played it extensively on an XP machine, though, so I'm not sure about long-term stability.

@Mraksexastos As previously stated I've played it both on XP and Vista, but mostly on XP. It doesn't necessarily play "well" on XP but it *can* work without too many problems.

I really liked this game. Played it with an old 3DFX pentium PC that i built a few years back. Had some really cool moments, and some funny voice acting :D

@Digijedi569 Since it's apparently me you're taking a dig at, I might clarify that not wanting to share copyrighted game files with complete strangers has nothing to do with being "lazy". I'd appreciate it if my decision not to engage in questionable file sharing was interpreted with a tad bit more generosity than that, thank you very much.

@Demiath I only played the demo, but I love it (for many reasons). If only I could get a copy. Makes me wish that GOG could get the rights on this one.

How did you ever get this running? I had the game ages ago, but I can't remember if I had the demo (I had a LOT of demos, pc gamer mags ftw). I looked into this game a couple years ago on some abandonware sites but it was a nightmare to get running, and when I finally did get it running almost nothing worked properly. I could create characters, enter/exit buildings, and walk around outside the town but that was about the only thing that worked. I couldn't get the combat to work so I just gave up on it. I would love to play this again, some of those old games are just so damn good for their time.

This is a game of my childhood! Man, i remember having barbarian, not sure what lvl, i played solo character whiskas or whatever that race is called :D i never finished it, last stage i played was stout mines and i was lost as fuck inside! Anyway, this is a great game, people who don't have patience to fix this and run some searches on ironworks forum should never play it anyway..

@Demiath im playing this game in my comp in windows xp and it has a lot off problems but i think is a great rpg game

I remember I couldnt finish it because of large amount of bugs and screen crashes on windows XP! Still managed to beat like 60% of the game but issues are too repelling.

Tried this game yesterday. After few tries and changed keys control it could be good game. I have deleted game, why? Accepted some "bounty hunt quest" and some kind of rogue bandit (So mi Toz?) appear. He's unbeatable for my party. Damn... Maybe next time...

This game is a pure gemstone of highest RPG quality. BUT you have to first dig through some cumbersome beginning and first few hours of "wtf am I doing". No rly. I have finished this. The character development is awsome; at first you can do very little, like in Wizardry 7, but later on your heroes become harbingers of death in their own particular way with many skills. The story isn't all that great but it's ok, but where the game excells is the level design. Boy there are SUCH GREAT PUZZLES and VERY GOOD QUESTS that requires thinking and very nice surprises. Rly, don't let any people tell you this is shit game, because it's a diamond. Anyone who says this is shit hasn't gone past first few hours necessary to get to a point where heroes are getting better and story and quests and puzzles start to finaly unveil. PS: Word of advice. Save yourself big amount of woe and read walktrough, section classes. Nothing more, just classes. You DO NEED to know where to develop your characters from the beginning. Believe me. The game is very unforgiving about this and you may loose some cool stuff in character creation, if you don't know how to get to it.
