Upsides - It is usable in any fantasy rpg setting and as terrain for miniature wargames again of a fantasy theme... maybe even Warhammer 40k. Downsides - It is quite large making storage and transport some what annoying. Also the price tag is kind of high.
Mine finally showed up and fits in my extended BlackSiteStudio - The Bruckstone Fortress wonderfully. Makes a great center castle piece. Right now I have the extra wooden floor on the top of the tower and my pathfinder gold dragon on it surveying his kingdom.
Oh my what a big box you have there. It looks cool, but the price is going to be ridiculous, and I am not sure it is worth it for me. Regardless, I have this feeling that you are an awesome Dungeon Master Naomi.
Looking nice in all except the floor design. If it has stone tile pattern floor, it should have internal ceiling arches on each floor to support the weight. To finish it, I'd use the provided cardboard floors as templates to make new floors from wood dowels as beams and wood popsicle sticks for floor planking. Also, it should have had machicolations up top between the buttress statues. And the price is prohibiting when a used car can be bought for around 300€
What I really like about your reviews is that you let the product take center stage. A lot of reviewers on youtube present as "Me! My review! Look at me! Oh, also there's this tower or whatever."
A bit expensive, and I agree it seems to have some issues, but it looks pretty awesome! Your story telling at around 8:00 was quite captivating. Thanks Naomi!
Setting up cannons or archers on that, ugh, role for lucky duck placement. Remember extra range via hight. I could see having a battle just to have access to the tower for the next battle!
The internals would actually work extremely well for skirmish games where the interior could be used as well. So many terrain options don't have an interior
That is a very substantial tower. It would be great for Frostgrave too. $300 Canadian puts it out of my price range though. Could buy a lot of MDF kits for that amount. Likely an entire castle. lol.
So it's an even more functional Witchfate Tor from WHFB. The floors being cardboard is a down side for sure with heavy metal models still being a thing.
Going to be getting this soon. I actually put a product suggestion idea on WizKidz website about 3 or 4 months ago. I told them I'd really like them to make curved walls & floors and a wizard tower as part of their Dungeon Tiles series. Well, what do you know. Either great minds think alike or they liked my idea. I'm really excited about this tower!
I'm loving the D&D content. Also I think this tower needed a little more work to get right. not being able to remove the second floor while the side decorations for the first floor are on seems like a bad idea. I'm also not sold on the very top of the tower not being super usable. It looks kinda cool but I would like to do a dramatic showdown with the BBEG at the top of this tower and that seems like it would be difficult.
For that price I'd at least want it hinged to make it easier in play. As it is, for players to really engage with it they all have to stand and look down into it. Ultimately, I'd just end up taking out the floor pieces as my map, making the tower just an expensive display piece.
Naomi come on , with my car requiring work starting in January £165 is a bit of a stretch to come by and ere with only a week to go before the big day, shops are closed or in short supply of goodies, so Santa has been cancelled - Thanks to Governments and Health Agencies. So what is next, paint brush time? Washes galore and some technical expertise, like growing ivy's clinging to the rock work - got to think ahead girl !! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family.
uhmm... I'm not entirely sure but for that price it could use a little bit more paint job like adding moss on the walls, vines and better weathering, stuff like that but well... that's just me.
I both love it but know I can make something similar for a 1/10th the price that'll be slightly better than a 1/10th the quality. I love the statues at the top though.
That's freaking awesome!! Naomi Merry Christmas and a Happy New year stay safe have fun and here's to 2021! May it be a hell of a lot better than I was in 2020 🎄🎄🍾🎉💞
Wouldn't the harpies just charm most of the party? Great video by the way, personally I like the bridge they put out more though with the beware of trolls sign.
it looks a nice centrepiece, good for either wargaming or RPG, however for a little more than the $250 price you could get your own FDM printer and print your own (if so inclined)
Wow. Looking at it I was thing. £50 auto buy. £75 likely. £100 probably the retail. For £185 I'm afraid they are having a laugh LOL I's a one off gimic, unless you decide to give it to the players as a sort of Blahs instant Fortress to carry around and use. In any case I'll wait and see if it shows up for sale on Ebay in four years. On another subject... great to see its Santa Naomi month! Look forward to more Santa Vids.
I'm not surprised it's that expensive. It would be better if they sold it in three separate parts so people could mix and match or buy extra parts as they can afford them.
I wouldn't pay above 150€ for it. The paint job is pretty lackluster (battlefield in a box terrain paintwork is better) It's obviously a cheap production item looking at the plastic. the cardboard floors are a bit of a slap in the face for the price. The biggest deal breaker is the bottom wall supports need to all come off for you to remove the middle floor. so no, at 200€ this is a pretty bad product. It's a good idea, but that's about where the good parts stop. (durability is a plus too tbf).
I'd get one if it was not $320, not saying its not worth it, just saying I'd be more inclined to buy it if it wasn't. This definitely one of those sets I would love to buy one floor.
200 bucks, huh? Or more likely at least 240 as EU prices always include VAT whereas US ones do not. Yeah, nope. On material quality and quantity alone I could maybe see going for it for an actual 200. And on round about 160 and below it would be excellent value. But I still wouldn't buy it due to several silly design elements on the roof (the statues and the gaps in the floor). Besides, the question is moot for me, anyway, as I've moved on to 3D-printing terrain.
Thank you for the review , a beautiful addition if you have the finances for such a grand piece. Happy Christmas to you , still hoping you would do an audiobook, l do love the sound of your voice and your delivery.
I like it. But I'm a Dwarven forge guy. Lol yes I'm one of those guys. I do reviews on different sets they have. I haven't bought any of their castle sets.
Not having plastic floors would be absolute dealbreaker for me. You can get two tables modular Rampart terrain for that. I generally love the Wizkids stuff, but this feels overpriced by a third.
The model looks nice, but it's just horrible playing inside deep bowls, it would have been a great model if it split apart about an inch above each floor.
204€!? yeah!, damn it looks great to me; i agree that cardboard floors isn't the best imo, i think it would have better made in the same resin or plastic than the rest of the structure. Btw, do you know a girl called Julie Nolke?, she is funny... here in Spain we don't get much info (or anything) about Canada; so far the few canadians that i know about, like you, seem to be nice and rational people, anyway... i gonna end my beer, don't bother you no more. Enjoy the weekend!
Hmmm ... I wonder what my D&D Limited Edition Colossal Red Dragon would look like next to that tower? XD I have a question for you. How big are the squares?
Looks ok. But it’s unpractical. With BF in a box, where would you use this, possibly only once, then it will take up space for years. Thanks sweetheart for reviewing this. It a bit OTT for me.
I've never played D&D in my life. I watched this video because I like miniatures and models. I think it's way overpriced considering that it probably cost the company about $10 to manufacture. And for the price they're charging for it, I'd expect that it would have plastic floors with actual openings for the tops of the stairs, as well as holes to snap the staircases into place. I also think they could have made it so that you didn't need to take the "fins" off to take it apart. Maybe they could have designed it with keyed latches so that you put each layer on, then turn it to lock it to the one below it.
My heart stopped when the DnD minis were getting knocked around. ... also; I'm not saying "couldn't you just ..." BUT ... I'm not seeing "the demographic" for this TBH. I feel like it would make more sense (IMO) to buy a FDM 3D printer ($260 CAD?) and print/paint chunks as needed. I'm aware that some people are children and can't do that. I'm not confident that a child can spend *that much* on such a thing, or, that anyone with the space to store this wouldn't be able to store/operate a 3D printer.
