Saying that Mike Tyson is the hardest or second hardest heavyweight puncher ever is laughable. Now, if we’re talking about punching power for someone’s size, then you can make a case for Mike Tyson.

Mike Tyson hits hard BUT Wladimir Klitshko hits harder and I thought that was obvious. He’s a 6 foot 6 man who weights 250 pounds, throws perfect punches AND has heavy hands - the fanboys around Mike Tyson is like nothing I’ve ever seen before.

There's a journeyman former fighter, can't remember his name, who fought/sparred all the top heavyweights from the 90's/2000's and said the hardest puncher he faced was Wladimir Klitschko, followed by Lennox Lewis and George Foreman iirc.

@@Arrogan28 If you argue Mike Tyson had faster hands then Wladimir Klitschko, I wouldn’t complain but to say he hits harder then Klitschko? Naw. The only reason Tyson was able to land the shots he landed was because his speed, he would throw massive hooks and uppercuts and land all of em because he was just so explosive and fast with his shots. But going off physics, Klitschko putting more of his weight into punches would definitely be a harder puncher then Mike Tyson.
@Arrogan28
@Arrogan28 3 года назад
@@mycommentwilltriggeryou9810 pretty sure that if Klitschko and Mike threw exactly the same punch that Klitschko would win hands down for having the much heavier hands. Not even a question. Kitlscho is simple the bigger guy for one, and the thing that scared most boxers in their right mind with Tyson as Tyson could do a full wind up and use his entire core muscles to hit with an undercut or a hook in the time it took a normal heavy weight to throw a jab. Watching his core muscle be able to move him like that scared the piss out of most sane boxers. As yea, it wasn’t normal to see a heavy weight move like he could move. Tyson was anomaly, a solid brick that was winding up and swinging from ten different angles before his opponets knew they were hit. And he was fearless because he had never been hurt if you hurt him he just seemed to get angrier and then they were even more screwed. So yea. Kitschko had more knockouts then tyson, but more fighters were scared to get into the ring with Tyson, and he i think had more devestating finishes. His highlight reel was enough to put the fear of “meeting your maker early” into you. I like both fighters as they both were great in their own way. it would have been interesting to see them fight each other, as each would have presented a puzzle they had never seen before and i think would have made for an exciting fight...

Julian Jackson probably hit harder that most heavyweights in the modern era. I once saw, then lightweight, Hearns clearly rock an old Ali in sparring. Tyson could get tremendous leverage in his punches and throw in bunches. No doubt the 80s Tyson would have knocked Wlad out in two rounds or less had the fight been in the U.S..Vitali would best Mike.

I have to strongly disagree with you hatman. Firstly, all Roach said was that Wladimir had a SLIGHTLY denser punch than Tyson ON PADS whereas he also said Tysons' punches were more explosive than Wladimirs'. Wladimir, with all the PEDs, state of the art strength training and sheer size at 250lbs and 6ft 6 hit SLIGHTLY denser (according to Roachs' pad experience with both of them) loading up fully on him whereas Tyson (at 5ft 10 and 220lbs approx) would emphasise punching fast and in combinations (which would take some power out of the punches as the aim is speed and accuracy) and wouldn't necessarily try to load up his hardest single punches on the pads. Bare in mind we are not talking about Tyson at his best, top condition etc. Rather we are talking about a crack addicted, post-prison, alcoholic, and not conditioned Tyson. This makes a big difference. Even based on what Freddie said, with all the factors mentioned above that would still allude to Tyson being a BETTER puncher(at 220lbs and 5ft 10) than Wladimir Klitschko (at 250lbs and 6ft 6). This would lead me to believe that Mike Tyson in the best condition is a much better puncher than Wladimir and even a harder puncher.

Thing is Wilder has been coming in at about the same weight as Tyson but guys that have been in there with Klitschko and Wilder say Wilder hits harder. To further that Wilder is one of the lightest heavyweights today but clearly the hardest puncher so your weight argument doesn't make sense to me, clearly other factors that can't really be controlled like bone density are more of a factor.

Tbf Freddie may not know about Mike Tysons punching power at its best Tyson relied on his athleticism, explosiveness and speed along with his leverages/correct form to produce power. Mike Tyson in his twilight years probably didnt have all the factors i mentioned above. He was heavier but slower, less explosive, and his punches werent as fast. Im sure his punches were heavier but they probably lacked the snap, and perhaps explosive power he had in his prime.

You had me up until david price. Its a relevant argument, science and technology alone would designate that men are bigger now and have better power and KO oportunities. However, and its a big however, Tyson had absolutely remorseless hands (ie) he didnt really care if he killed his opponent. that twinned with his low centre of gravity and technique made him a monster that Price would have lasted 30 seconds with. Good argument fodder though!

So if a truck hit you at 30mph It's harder then a car at 35mph
@PabloEscobar-jt6nj
@PabloEscobar-jt6nj 7 лет назад
manni Apparel yes because a truck weighs much more than a car does. Power = Mass (weight) x Acceleration. Average truck weight at 6000 pounds x 30 mph = 180,000 pounds of force where as an average weight of a car at 3200 pounds x 35 mph = 112,000 pounds of force. Tyson is probably a harder P4P puncher meaning he hits harder for his weight than Klitschko does for his.
@jmcg1010
@jmcg1010 8 лет назад
its a simple question of physics. momentum x force - the variable being technique. A 6 ft 6 guy weighing 250lbs is going to hit harder than a 217lb at 5 ft 10.

It's more about the ability to land the big punch. I have no doubt there are bigger guys who have more damaging one punch power than Tyson had. But what most of those guys lack is the speed and delivery system of Tyson. Tyson was very athletic, and is one of the quickest power punchers of all time. He landed shots most guys wouldn't be able to. At his peak, he had everything he needed to beat every fighter he stepped in there with. Except for true belief in himself.

Tyson got all his weight and plenty of momentum for knockout results, whereas a guy the size of Klitschko can knock similar-sized guys with straight shots without as much momentum needed. There you go, different styles but similar results and both very effective if accurate enough.

Hatman forget about Roach. Botha fought both men and said Tyson was the harder hitter. Besides , Tyson at that time had lost all his speed and timing. Speed is power. Wladimir usually has to be set to deliver brutal power shots. He's not as powerful when he's punching on the move. Mike was still devastating when he was punching on the move. Do you really thing Haye would have gone 12 with 80's Mike? Or do you think Povetkin could keep walking head first into Tyson like he did with Wlasdimir?

Klitscko is 6 foot 6 and 245lbs and hits with perfect technique putting his entire bodyweight into the shot generating insane power, I've never seen Tyson put a 260 pound man to sleep with a 6 inch left hook to the side of the head b4. Tyson was naturally a strong powerful guy but didn't have the size or leverage to generate klitschko type power, i do believe foreman hit harder though, Shannon Briggs fought lennox lewis, vitali klitschko and Said foreman (at 48) hit him the hardest in his life, he said he was unable to sleep for weeks after the foreman fight

Tyson had a different sort of power, alot of it was generated from his legs and explosive speed, thats why he was more effective with it during his prime years rather than later on in his career, i think weight doesn't always really indicate a persons punching power, its more down to genetics, bone density and technique, David haye for example is a pretty light guy in terms of weight compared to most heavy weights he steps in the ring with, but he punches considerably harder than most 17 stone guys, power is something you're blessed with

Spot on, Hatman. Mike Tyson was a brilliant combination boxer. He could load up with the right hand and hit you with the left hook and uppercuts. Hatman, you're confusing hitting hard with hitting heavy. Muhammad Ali described the difference best when he was asked about the difference between the punches of Joe Frazier and George Foreman. Foreman's punches he explained would jar and shake up his entire body whereas with Frazier, his punches would inflict deep throbbing pain. I'm more inclined to think that this comparison could be extended to Klitschko and Tyson than to think Klitschko is bigger and heavier and thus hits harder. Speed of punching comes into it too.

Povetkin hits harder than any Tyson for sure, judging by his knockout last night against whyte, knocked 6’3 252ib whyte semi dead for nearly a minute with one uppercut, the first big shot he landed clean. That tops any Tyson knockouts in terms of devastating level. povetkin is basically a bigger more powerful but lower in any other areas version of Tyson. Same style same way they throw their whole body into their punch. The hardest punch Tyson landed on a opponent is botha and that knockout was no where near as devastating as the povetkin whyte knockout.

Tyson power is like pacman power. Explosive and hard to read. Guys that can land sharp counters or set up their shots well always get a greater affect from their shots. People usually call such fighters big punchers so I think its just a general misconception. There are guys that can hit a heavy bag and make it swing but don't have enough speed on their shot to make the difference. Its as much about surprise as power. Although he's not the biggest I think wilders right hand is the most dangerous out of the heavyweight champs. But compare that to David price. Price is a lot bigger. But his shot is easier to see.

Sorry Hatman I disagree with Vlad hitting harder than Tyson. I am a Tyson fan, but I am no blind fanboy, for example I think Holyfield may have always been too good for any era of Tyson, and that Ali would have been too good as well. But the one thing Tyson had apart from great boxing skills, speed, and accuracy, was a killer punch. Look at the amount of first round KOs he got, look at the way he knocked people out. Vlad's KO record does not compare to that. Tyson was the harder puncher. Vlad is bigger and heavier so what, punching power is about technique and strength vs size ratio.

Klitschko is a much bigger man, so of course. Tyson won with speed and head movement combined with world class power. Wladimir wins by grabbing and putting his opponent into awkward positions until he can get those 1-2 combos on him.

Hitman do you really think Wladimir Klitschko could beat Tyson in his Prime Tyson had more than just a hard punch he had skills for his size

I disagree slightly Hatman but only because tyson was visibly slower towards the end of his career. I no u addressed this but u didn't address that speed goes hand in hand with power. I agree with everything else though matey just that small point. Ustinov is a massive puncher but he's so slow it's painful to watch
@johannsebastienbach
@johannsebastienbach 7 лет назад
thats obvious. becos wladimir is much bigger and rain those right hamds down with perfect leverage. but tyson combo is mpre devastating and hit with good angles. of courae the momentum ryson genwrates is smaller. hes not going to hit harder than wladimir lewis or fpreman
@filipvis4655
@filipvis4655 6 лет назад
It's all angle, less distance but more snap in fewer distance equals leverage, and therefore he was so explosive, I mean look at Iron Mike in his prime, that physique, ooof! But with more height and length of limbs come advantages, but if you not purely hone your own style/talents due to your personal body type, then you are doomed as a tall fighter vs a slightly or way smaller fighter, cause they come in with a different gameplan, heavier fighters tend to come in with more consistency and wanting to distribute it over the rounds to be capable of keeping stamina, and when they see someone hurt, they go all out, but it's different than prime tyson, he would ALWAYS go out for the kill with combinations and angles you'd expect undoable/impossible. That's the tale of the tape!
@filipvis4655
@filipvis4655 6 лет назад
They fight more reservable and ongoingly now, and with more/efficient technique training, with time passing there come new insights in how to grow a carreer and keep it up to par/healthy medical treatment is at it's top now, whilst back in the 70's 80's they couldn't keep someone as fresh as todays standards. The strength is sometimes but not always in the correct form/technique, but unexpectedly getting slugged at, could bring you out of your game plan for sure!
@filipvis4655
@filipvis4655 6 лет назад
But tyson is legend, and a beast, and still is and always will be up there with the boxing greats!
@filipvis4655
@filipvis4655 6 лет назад
Simply put, you see somebody put in more effort and determination in it, exceeding and building new levels for their physique they have a tendency to get all out of themselves, except for when the particular case someone blows up, going in too heavy/too fast and burned up/blown up totally. Nowadays a lifestyle with more distribution of simply EVERYTHING helps these sporters gigantically!

Hatman is way off here, sounds like a casual. Punchers are born, they are not made in the gym, and size does not necessarily dictate punching power. A 217 pound Tyson may very well hit harder than a man 30 ponds heavier than him, as is the case with Klitschko. Both are tremendous punches but my eyes tell me Tyson's right hook eclipses Wlad's power. It's a distinction without a difference as both have world class power....
@devonalexandra9963
@devonalexandra9963 7 лет назад
Difference is, every punch Tysons throws is with power, He didn't really throw jabs and the jabs he did throw where like power jabs, he'd jump in behind it, Klitscko is totally different, he could go 3 rounds straight without throwing a single power shot, just jab jab jab, But his best punch, probably the straight right, is more potent that Tysons best punch which is probably his right hook. If Wlad threw the amount of power punches that Tyson threw, very few people would last the distance with him, he already has an incredibly high ko rate as it is!

Okay hatman let’s rephrase this because a lot of people have got it wrong mike Tyson was the fastest punching hard hitting heavyweight of all time combined with angles and head movement you don’t have to hit the hardest when you can hit with 5 punch combos and make you miss then hit you with another 5 all while being power punches who cares about 1 lousy punch when you can’t capitalize on it

Man did y'all have the original Nintendo over there? Iron Mike Tyson was unbelievable on Mike Tyson's punch out!!! Now seriously, I'll say that I'll agree with you 100%!!!! Now Big George Forman would be one of my top picks for one of the hardest hitting heavyweights. We got two fighters right now that's hitting very hard. Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua. AJ is more of a boxer with power than Deontay. Now Deontay is fearless and when he does land a punch, people have a habit that go to sleep. I did love Tyson. But I know he wasn't the hardest puncher.

Come on Hatman, you made a video about Wilder being a historically great puncher and he's 215. I understand your frustration with folks deifying Tyson's power, but you're going so far in the other direction. What is your beef? Roach described Tyson's power by almost calling it f***** incredible on live TV. It is absolutely possible for a smaller man to hit harder than a bigger man. My trainer sparred GGG and he said nobody, not even the heavyweights he sparred, hit harder than him. Tyson hit like a freight train, nobody can dispute that. Takes nothing away form other fighters. Wilder hits hard as hell. GGG hits hard as hell. Come on man. Is Klitschko a harder puncher? If they say so, sure. Anyone else else hit harder than Tyson historically or today? No doubt. Doesn't mean Tyson is not among historically recognized power punchers. Recognized by his opponents and trainers. Bottom line, I have not seen anybody blister a heavy bag like Tyson. Just like I haven't seen anyone smack the pads like Tyson. He had spectacular one-punch KO power and that's good enough for me. Not saying he is the hardest puncher of all time, but please, don't strip away his credit by talking rubbish about his size.
@protectorategeneral
@protectorategeneral 5 лет назад
B A tyson is definitely one of the hardest puncher of all time.punching power does not completely rely on size .earnie shavers as one of if not the hardest puncher already proved that .also Michael spinks basically said that tyson hit harder than Gerry cooney. But Tyson is insanely overrated by his fanatic fanboys. And he was a one punch ko artist not =he was a one punch puncher .he landed clean shots sometimes many clean shots before finish his opponents with one punch that they didn’t see or expect. Wilder’s power is also bit overrated.
@davonbenson4361
@davonbenson4361 5 лет назад
B A. Tyson was beating opponents with his quickness. He would slip past someone’s guard, and land punches that the average person couldn’t land. If Vladimir had Tyson’s quickness, all of his opponents would’ve been koed.

For one he trained Tyson towards the end of his career but two Tyson was devastatingly quick doing it. Speed and timing beat power, all this fighting talk about who has the hardest punch is bs. I heard boxers say fighters didn't hit hard when they been sparked out by them. Its all to do with the speed of punch and where it lands and whether or not the person being punched sees it enough to move even slightly to soften the blow. The op talking rubbish Tyson fury must be more powerful than klitckko, jushua Tyson ect cos he's taller Logic is flawed badly
