As a lifelong Chicagoan, I love love love watching these old Chicago news broadcasts! Especially (for me personally) the ones from the early 1990’s which were by far the best years of my childhood. Watching these teleports me right back to those amazing years of my life.

RIP John Drury and James Ward. I've watched WLS ABC news since the late 80s, and I can remember so many anchors. I can remember FIM stores too, our local one's facade is still standing but other stores have done business there since.

Yep, I was 16 years old on the 18th of this month that year. Technically speaking when this was originally broadcast. And at the end of that commercial where they had a little list of stores the main store was in. One particular store is Woodmar Mall from Hammond In. It is long gone now.

I would have lived in Chicago since about early January sometime in 1992. I've always been a channel 7 News watcher. So back then things were a lot different. He didn't have but two area codes in 1992-312 and 708.

Mary Ann Childers -- she's from my home city of Louisville, and worked as an anchorwoman at WAVE-TV here in the mid-1970s, just after a stint working at a Chicago station. I had wondered where she went after leaving WAVE. So it was back to Chicago. Good deal.

I love those commercials. Just think back then we didn't have all of the monopolies that we do now. We actually had independent businesses back then in 1992.
