Yes it can handle it but it can eventually fry it with long use. I had to replace one in my buggy version a959b. But the small fan cooling it down definitely helps...thanks for watching

Cool speed run, off camera I've gotten mine up to 50mph on a 75 c rated 3s lipo ,but I did upgraded to metal gears ,thanks for sharing 👍🏾😎👍🏾

Nice bro, good numbers... this one is still running all stock gear, plastic spur and original 2yr old motor out the box.. its been used a lot in that time so probably could do with some upgrades now..still impressed though how fast it is :) Cheers for watching brother! 😎👍🍻

@@PERTHWESTOZRC When are you going to get a 1/10 scale brushless motor for it? I got mine to 58 mph on half throttle with a brushless kit for a 1/10 and a 2s lipo. It was also throttle limited to 50% and had a bad front differential.

Its a classic the A979b...this one is over 2 years old now..might buy a fresh new one soon. Have bought another shell for this already after i slammed into my foot sideways in this video lol. thanks for watching Gregory

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR IMITATION...! I also tried 3S in my 979B, but the ESC couldn't withstand it, so that steering didn't work anymore. And that was directly by turning the switch to "on", not after long use. Changed the servo first, but the new one was also without function. After replacing the ESC both servos did their job, so something in the first receiver burned out. I just inform you about my experience, that the ESC does not really work with 3S, before you kill yours, too.^^ Just test it, when you have a spare ESC... ;-) Better use an 8T 540 motor with a 40 teeth pinion and change the pinion on the drive shaft into 32 teeth of the first version (without B), then put a 2S lipo with 50C in it and be amazed at what is happening... ;-) The car will not fly, but you can touch 50mph what is about 81kmh... :-)

I think you were just unlucky mate, I run these on 3s all the time on the stock electronics and had no issues, even on my A959b which I’ve made many videos on 3s speed runs a few years ago on stock wltoys esc. You must of had a dud.

Your 979B is so stable at top speeds.Everyone else is all over the place and doing cartwheels. Is it because of the 959 buggy wheels?

Yeah they help a fair bit, as they don't balloon like the 979b stock tyres causing it to drift and smash into kerbs

Do u think the esc would still fry with a 1300mah 3s 30c lipo? I also have a fan on the motor with the engine sink

Put the fan on the ESC and just use heatsink on the motor
