That was great, I laughed a lot through the video, glad no French were hurt making this video. Looks like a fun plane for the $$. Great show, Jeff in LA USA
Came here just looking for any videos on the Wltoys F949S that our old mate got. Very pleasantly surprised by your style of presentation. 1 Pommie that I won't bother whinging about! ;-)
Plug sockets can sometimes charge the battery a little faster than a laptop's USB. Though a phone will charge significantly faster on a wall socket, I've not noticed a big difference with these small batteries.
my f949s propeller is a little bit off center, its pointing a little bit to the right, I don't know if it will affect flight because i haven't maiden it yet. Is yours like that too? I don't know if I should return it?
That’s intentional. When a propeller spins one way, it has a torque effect that tries to roll the whole plane the other way. Turning the propeller off to one side (which side depends which way the prop spins) balances this out. You might notice the prop points down slightly as well, this is a common choice on smaller planes, I’m not sure why, but a propeller pointing square-on to the fuselage often makes the plane start to pitch up when you give it power, so pointing it down balances that out too. :)
@@mastermalpass help! when i rev up the motors, my propeller is launched forward and out of the reach of the motor gears. What do I do?? I just did some test glide and this happened. ru-vid.comm0_9De7NI3E Edit: I fixed it by doing the part you did at 3:08 but instead of cutting open the motor area, I disassembled the wing and used a very thin screwdriver and held the shaft from there
Just bought the F949S with three batteries for £57 from eBay. Arriving Wed. Should be fun. Then I am hoping to move on to something bigger like the E Flight Apprentice Trainer but the battery only lasts 5 minutes. Would you recommend a Nitro Trainer for beginners?
Five minutes is plenty of time per flight on the bigger planes. As a beginner, you will be pretty stressed out and looking forward to a safe landing by then any way. I don't have any experience with the eFlight trainer. I did all of my learning on an Su-34 V4 from RC Powers - you have to make it yourself, but its much cheaper, very beginner friendly and fairly crash-tolerant - if longer flight times are your goal, then it will happily carry larger batteries. As for Nitro Trainers. Those are planes to train you for Nitro and Gas planes specifically - THEY ARE NOT FOR BEGINNERS. You'll be spending a lot of money only to write the whole thing off on the maiden. I'm six years in on this hobby and I still don't feel ready for Nitro or Gas planes.
Great review, great emotions. I just ordered it now for 33 € with fast shipping (not from China). Do you have any recommendations for batteries? The original costs 10 € and the cheap ones cost about 2 €.
Unstablised MODE? All I can say is the F949 has no stablisation assist - the airframe is naturally stable itself. I can see that the F939 is gyro stabilised - but that's an entirely different plane, designed for more advanced flying. Typically airframes like that are much less stable than this one - so I would assume that yes, this plane is more stable than an unstabilised stunt plane or warbird.
@@idk90a1 ah so there is! My bad, didn't realise that 's' was pertinent to the model. Looking at pictures, it looks to be an identical airframe, so I'd assume the F949S in unstabilised mode will have the exact same characteristics as this one.
@@edthorwalla All I can advise is how you can see me doing it in the video. Cupping the opposite side in your hand as to not put too much pressure on one point and just kinda push it in, leading with one corner first if you can. Only other tip I can give; thin metal rods like these are hard to grip and ANY grease on your fingers will cause it to slip easily. So I find washing my hands with too much hand soap (the harsher, more dehydrating, the better) gives me a few minutes of ultra-dry non-slip fingers. lol
@@mastermalpass thank you very much for the good advice it really helped me I just got out and took the plane for a fly and it was a really nice practice plane. I hope you will get a good evening. I live im Sweden and it was very nice to fly it on the ice lake
