Back then, WMT-TV 2 of Cedar Rapids, Iowa was a sister station to WAVE-TV 3 of Louisville, Kentucky, WFIE-TV 14 of Evansville, Indiana, WFRV-TV 5 of Green Bay, Wisconsin and WJMN-TV 3 of Escanaba, Michigan. They were all owned by Orion Broadcasting and used the Home Country news music theme and the same font in their logos, a slightly-modified version of Verona Serial Heavy. WAVE-TV 3 was Orion Broadcasting's flagship TV station.
True story. It was probably around 1990 or so & KGAN did one of the call-in shows where people could comment on the station or ask questions. Amy Johnson was there and it was shortly after she married Tim Boyle. Someone called in and asked Amy a question very sexual in nature regarding sexual position with her husband and she didn't hear the question well the first time. She kept asking for the question to be repeated while the other panel members tried to move on. They cut to commercial & when they came back, she did not look happy at all. Probably one of the funniest things I've ever seen on TV and it may not have been recorded, or if it was, it'll probably never see the light of day because of how strongly sexual the question was.
