The last and final newscast for Sue Simmons at WNBC who has been anchoring the 11pm news with her longtime tv husband Chuck Scarborough for over 30 years. She was let go by the station as her contract was not renewed. She makes hints at that by saying "someone made a mistake" when talking about her leaving. She also says she hopes to find work elsewhere even if its just once a week! What annoyed me is that WNBC didn't give her enough time at the end to talk......but she definitely went out with a bang!! And at one point they aired an NBC jobs ad right before the long tribute......I was disgusted when I saw that. Anyways I wish the best for Sue as I have been a fan of hers for so long. I'll miss you and i hope to see you on TV again!! Love ya!!!!

As an L.A. Native, of course Sue Simmons will forever be famous for the "Bleep are you doing?" bit but after watching this, it showed how classy, funny, and warm she is as a person and how hard-working, dedicated, and consistent she was as a NY newscaster. I hope she found something in the world of news that made her happy. 32 years! Not many broadcasters stick around that long. That would be similar to our Colleen Williams here in L.A.

I remember when this happened I was in New York when this happened it was terrible when WNBC did this they will never will come back either!!! No co-anchor since her Shiba Russel, Sibla Vargas, Natalie Pasquerila no one and beyond could hold a candle to her. It was a candid move of WNBC and that last part at the end when they cut her off was disrespectful too!!!

Sue, it was growing up watching you and Chuck that made me decide to choose a career in tv news. WNBC will never be the same without you! I hope you choose to continue your career on-air somewhere else; you need to be able to celebrate February 2nd somewhere! Thanks again for all the decades of first-class anchoring; we love you!

@@lenevee4925 good question. It wasn't the f-bomb. It was that she stayed at the party too long. Here's the deal: she refused to do promo appearances for the network and eventually became persona non grata. She was basically tired of working and looking for an excuse to get fired. That's the reality. The f-bomb was just a symptom of what was going on with her, which was, she was tired of showing up for work. So in a way you're right - the f-bomb sealed the deal; that was the beginning of the end for Sue Simmons.

“How are you Miss Simmons” I would say to her whenever we passed each other or in the elevators. I absolutely LOVE Sue… “Please, Handsome! Call me Sue” because I couldn’t imagine being on a first name basis with a legend. Whenever she came downstairs from the studios and would walk around Rock Center - she was a delight!

When NBC still keeps Matt Lauer on the Today Show, and let Sue Simmons go is the perfect example of the incompetency of NBC, and let them fall behind ABC and CBS in ratings. I would be incredibly pissed (professionally), throughout this.

When they let Susan "Sue" Simmons go in 2012 and put Shiba Russell in a slot for 11:00 news, I have to be honest: but, l WAS EXTREMELY FLAT OUT DISGUSTED! This woman Sue Simmons had a good 32 years experience with NBC 4 News network. She will be remembered as the greatest newscaster of New York. Don't forget Chuck Scarborough too.😢😤🇺🇸📺❄️🌈

This was a great tribute to her, I remember watching her when I was just in kindergarten before cable! And she looks as good now as she did then... I've moved out of the area but I'm still sad that she is no longer.

Live at Five in the early '80s was THE hippest, most informative, most entertaining local news show in history. I miss it. Sue, Jack Cafferty, Dr. Frank Field, Chauncy Howell, Liz Smith, Pia Lindstrom, Katie Kelly and on and on.

It's a shame that NBC didn't renew Sue. As for her successor... WNBC's safest bet would be picking Darlene Rodriguez (morning anchor) or Melissa Russo (investigative-political reporter)... instead of picking Shiba Russell. Not sure about outside names, like Lynne White (former WPIX morning anchor) or Kaity Tong (WPIX weekend anchor). WPIX made the worst mistake in disbanding Jim & Kaity... Lynne was last seen on NYC TV in early 2005. Unless, WNBC suddenly reconsiders, by rehiring Sue.
