WNPB TV sign off produced in 1989. This was heard every night just before we turned off the transmitter. WNPB transmits from a tower high above Coopers Rock state forest near Morgantown West Virginia.

The song is not from a science fiction show from the 1950s. The title is Simple Gifts / Appalachian Spring, by Aaron Copland.

I remembered the first part of the theme from the "CBS Reports" news specials in the 1970's (and possibly before, but I wouldn't know)

We would occasionally use test patterns overnight, when we kept the TX on for whatever reason.
