I have to say that this is really refreshing to hear/watch. Especially for novice photographers like myself who are trying to find they're own style. Where "street photography" is the thing, and you're not cool unless you get in people's faces to snap a picture...this gives me a new sense of confidence. After all beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Thank you for sharing with us!

Jake I must say I find this video very motivating. I visited your website once it ended and I must congratulate you for your great job. Updating so frequently must be though, that's way I appreciate most of your pics. Keep on shooting mate. Great job.

I really enjoyed your video and the few photos you show in it. I can see how an exhibit of your work might be a lot of fun to see, how it might be successful commercially. Thanks.

Street beauty .. Jake love your vision of our everyday scenes. True that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Do you have any shots of. Park. Slope or. Fort. Hamilton. Parkway sections of. Brooklyn ? Very cool video

I understand and appreciate your motive for your photographs. Just because some people do not appreciate the value in them does not mean they have no value ! The inability to appreciate color, texture, form, patterns or history seems to point out that they are missing a large part of what photography stands for. Keep shooting for those of us that want to remember the past. :)

I was looking a street photography vids on You-tube and discovered you on on NYC Street Shots. There is a wonderful structure on North 8th. street between Bedford and Driggs on the Northside. It's a red brick building; no windows but definitely dominates that block. I've loved it since a boy. Also there is an old bank structure on Grand street between Berry and Kent (somewhere in that two block stretch). One story and strong. Anyway, I like what your doing.

Maybe not my cup of tea, artistically speaking. But unlike all the people who shoot with expired film rolls and delibriate light leaks, this dude's photography is about documenting the present, not the past. Maybe his photos aren't that intriguing now, but in 50 years they will describe our time much more accurately than any high contrast b/w-shot could. Too much editing and post processing will only ruin the initial idea of capturing the city's real face...

it always amazing to me that so many people are so critical of someone else's pursuit around here. This video has 53,000 views which is quite a few people cruising this subject. The constant mindless critique is just that mindless. Like any of you have even the foggiest idea of what you are talking about. Criticizing the critic that is what I am doing.

pretty usual pics for me...but the most important is that he's satisfied with them. There is not "true photography".

please don't associate hipsters to street photography. Don't ruin this for me...although after what i have seen in your pics, we don't share the same definition of street photography...you just seem to take random snapshots of buildings and graffiti... John Free, Bresson and Doisneau pics are street photography...people,interaction...feeling..points of view. Ehh whatever.

@noseqponer0808 I think your wrong. If a person "shits" on your work there is a reason for it. I personally prefer the shitters" if they can articulate why exactly they feel the way they feel...then you learn something. I think the only picture that actually had a little something to it here was the red building with the red van in front of it...the rest just empty thoughtless snapshots, typical in our digital era of worthless pics. You need something special...carve, dig, think

He says it himself, people take the same shots he does. That should've been a sign to check with yourself what you're doing wrong. Unoriginal shots of buildings that in every shot recycle the same composition, is perhaps nicer for a short series if nice at all, but seriously limiting yourself if you call yourself a photographer. If you call a wall an abstract, you don't quite know what an abstract is. If you frame your shots within three seconds, then maybe you should think some longer.

the work is great , great respect for you but photography best viewed at 900 X 600 pixels and internet as its prime medium scares me though its true but nothing beats see photography in books and prints, clicking a picture and just seeing it on computer monitor is not satisfying for me .

Well aren't you a humble chap? "The same hipster clothes?" WTF? You WANT to be a hipster? In that case, you're documenting your own hand in the destruction of these neighborhoods. Anzel Adams? This is too much.
