Largely made up of the foreign legions, French, Danish, and Norwegians,. And so the men there had to go down with as many kills as they could.
Reichstag was not defended by foregin soldiers , french ss and others were tasked to defend reich chancellery , and area of brandenburg gate . Reichstag was defended by hitler personal troops , LSAAH troops and marines units along with some paratroopers.

But at least have researched about why he couldn't get to study in Austria's artschool (i think it was Vienna's artschool if I remember correctly) and the reasons were actually acceptable, he was simply a structural artist and had very good passion on that ; and actually normal people can't even think drawing his arts . @@imtired9395 That usually never happens. just look at history, you can hope for it, or you can strive for it. the "good guys" in reality did not exist in either of the world wars. these were wars between industrial nations that were trying to figure out their belief system in an age where they had forsaken God. so the Germans went with a "Fuhrer" as a replacement, the Italians "the state" the Russians went for the "Soviet" and the Allies settled on "Democracy" and all of these belief systems had failed their followers. young men will throw themselves at almost anything as we naturally have a rush to want to kill and get killed that older people do not have, yet in an age of the Machine, it gets rather hard to find something worthwhile to get yourself killed for.

What is funny is how I see many people in this comment section refer to the French, Danish, Dutch, etc fighting in Berlin. Well to be entirely honest, Adolf Hitler hearing about the Reichstag being defended by non-germans was disappointed. He only wanted Germans to defend a German building, not non-germans. Also many of the foreign SS didn't have much of choice. It was either get shot by the Soviets or get hang by the Western Allies. They pretty much had no choice and were going to die anyways, so why not fight to the death. Again, they were not fighting for a better Europe, rather they were just fighting for their lives.

What are you on about? The defense of the Reichstag was one of the most brutal and hard-fought defenses in the war. It was more a less fought till the last bullet took every soldiers life... the remaining members of SS Nordland and Charlemagne stayed to defend whilst everyone else ran to get captured by the British or US, they clung on grimly to every mound of rubble, by the end more than 90% of the unit had been killed and the 60 odd that surrendered at the end only did so because they were so badly wounded they were physically incapable of resistance/fighting. And this division of the SS was a foreign legion, so for SS Nordland was almost exclusively conscripts and volunteers from Hungary, and Charlemagne was basically all French and they fought till the last man for another nation.
