Ngl can we get a normal Wof couple Bc the most recent ones have been gay or lesbian. I don’t have anything against them but i want something I can relate to.
It was a nice read, though as a guy in my mid twenties reading something meant for pre-teens, it felt more like a handfull of anicdotes than the exposition dump I was hoping for. It was a fun time and I enjoyed myself, but it also strengthens my theory that Tui just makes this stuff up as she goes along, which sadly isn't my preferred style when it comes to storytelling.
Also kinda worried the books are gonna '' lose their way '' the longer the story goes on but considering i manage to still read warrior cats it would probably take a lot of bullshit plots, blatant incosistancies and badly written characters for me to drop wings of fire lmao.
I loved seeing all the extra info on the supporting characters like how Rose became like a therapy pet to Smoulder. I was really happy to see that Fierceteeth wants to bury the hatchet with Starflight and that the ancient NightWing traditions won't be lost. I imagine the rainforest NightWings and the RainWings will eventually form a new tribe. I call them the JewelWings. Their wings will be adorned with multicoloured scales that shine in the dark.
@@Helpful_Art_Tips Her actual name is Rose. She pointed to some roses in a painting and Smoulder guessed her name was Flower. She figured that was close enough.
6:11, wait on scarlets kill list theres an unknown dragon named beryl, what if beryl is the sister who was banished and the reason scarlet wants her dead is because shes was a potential challenger for the throne
5:02 Well its canon that Jerboa enchanted many dragons for certain purposes. Maybe they enchanted a painter to get a self portrait. Which they hang up, then a miniature recreation was made for the book?
I literally just realized that it’s okay to name a SeaWing hybrid of some kind “Moccasin”, because the word both means Indian shoe, but it is also a species of poisonous water snake. Very appropriate I really wish I could adopt Gaboon, but I don’t have deviant art so I cannot obtain her. I suppose I’ll just find the person who adopts her and watch them.
You forgot to mention the most important section: The SkyWing National Anthem!!! Also the section on small town IceWings was one of my favorite parts Also also I freaking popped off when that menu thing explained that MudWings invented ice cream, because there was one random line in Dangerous Gift where Snowfall mentions craving ice cream and that was bothering me ever since I read it the first time because I wanted to know more about what trade connections the notably isolationist IceWings had to be getting the supplies to make it. (I had previously theorized that they milked the seals from one of their infinite seal spawners)
OH! And also also also, I’m pretty sure that Tailwind, the SkyWing who wrote about Scarlet’s past was never at any point referred to in the third person, so I headcannon them as nonbinary
response to 10:02: either in The Lost Continent or in Hive Queen it says that hivewings are allowed to grow specific fruit trees for food, its just that they must be watched closely. its only mentioned once and im currently rereading the series so its still fresh in my brain, i see how you could forget ^^ /gen /nm
I also tried the honey drop recipe from the book….I used fresh lemon juice, and just wanted to let you know, even tho u used a some lime juice, mine still tasted burnt! 😂
Thank you sheepie for linking an actual recipe for the honey drops, I’ve been wanting to make them but have been too scared of messing them up by putting the wrong amount in- also very silly touch of the fire spreading throughout the video, I thought I was seeing things at first
10:00-Fun fact in crickets book something is mentioned about how only select fruit trees are aloud to be grown in their own green houses as long as they are under strict supervision and approval of queen wasp
Omg she’s alive 😍😍 also, the SECOND you talked about cover dragon, I KNEW SOMEONE HAD TO POINT OUT ITS HORNS, LIKE IMAGINE WALKING UP TO SOMEONE AND YOUR HORN STABS THEM INTO THE HEAD.
I comment only to boost Dragonsheep to the algorithm. I liked the guide but I also noticed some things she pointed out. “..I love doing hard crack” got jumpscared by that lmao
Okay, when I read the part where Queen Coral was talking about how the war ended, I seriously thought that my eye would twitch because it was so irritating, but otherwise I loved the whole thing
I'm both happy and unsatisfied with how this book came out. I guess with all of the delays or whatever with the book coming out I just sorta expected more? It's lacking in a lot of compartments and I thought there would be a little more information that was dug out other than just letters or old stories from tribes. I figured there would be more going into how the tribes work and different aspects about them that aren't in letter form. Though the letters that we did get to read, in my opinion, are honestly very cute in some cases and I like a bit of the personal views we get from the other dragons.
I can't read this book. It might mess up my nonsensical headcanon where Flame is secretly the hero of Arc 1 and Darkstalker redeems himself in Arc 2 by becoming a Formula 1 driver with a heart of gold. Also nice video love your content.
Hivewings do have fruit, I remember it mentioned somewhere that fruit trees are permitted to grow, but only with The Queen's permission and when overseen
I recognise the specific very way you said "archivist" at 0:17 and I would like to thank you for pronouncing it the proper way (the way that makes you want to continue with "of the Magnus Institute, London")
i thought it was so fun to see little side notes from a lot of characters, ESPECIALLY SIDE CHARACTERS LIKE MANDRAKE AND COBRA LILY!!! (i was very excited about those). i love the little honey recipe from luna, i personally think this book was great and fun to read :3
I wish we got more. In terms of information on each tribe especially and how they live along with history. Like I remember years ago the rumors about us seeing Beetlewings in this book and that didn’t happen. I feel like overall it ended up being kinda lackluster, especially compared to everything warrior cats has been getting
6:51 Pyrrhia’s education was interrupted by the War of SandWing Succession, since they were fighting a war a lot of dragons were made soldiers, slowing inventions and discoveries.
I found the most interesting thing in the guidebook to be confirmation that the RainWings are not as powerful as the fandom seems to think, they lost a war to the SkyWings just like I've been saying they would for months. RainWings are strong specifically because of their home field advantage, but they have no way to defend against scorched earth tactics, RainWing venom has a much shorter range than fire or frostbreath and has to contend with gravity a lot sooner, in anything that isn't a dense forested environment, they're at a disadvantage. My guess is what happenned is SkyWings flying overhead raining down fire on the forest, forcing RainWings up into the open to meet them anf thus renderring their camoflage obsolite after one attack and forcing them to fight where the SkyWings had an advantage. I'm not sure where the idea that RainWings are incredably powerful came from, they're ambushers, their venom is scary, but it's ultimately just a slower, shorter range version of fire or frostbreath, is either of those hit you in the eyes, you're probably dead too, and almost every tribe have their own natural weapons that make them better fighters.
I think the implication was that the SkyWings won the war because they used soldiers with firescales. Python mentions in the letter that "No one knew what the SkyWings had, or how much damage they could do.", and the SkyWings breathing fire would be common knowledge, so she has to be talking about something else. And half a dozen or so Perils could definitely do the kind of damage described here. Which makes me wonder how brutal this war must have been to get the SkyWings to go back on their "kill them all" policy towards firescales. Definitely an extremely gruesome story that we're not getting.
@@nicholasrowland5899 I know that, it could be firescales, although Sunset already said they were killing them in Darkstalker legends. But presumably it wasn't only firescales.
Just wanna let ya know: if your allowed, you CAN grow trees on pantala, but you need allowance to do so by queen wasp, and you will be strictly supervised
I’d think it’d be funny if you tried warrior cats, because they have similar writing. I was skeptical at first BUT OMG ITS ACTUALLY AMAZING. (Tui was one of the writers)
Was up dragonsheep, idk if you will see this, but if you do, I have big news for the WoF series, about 2 months ago, tui confirmed that she is probably going to make an ark 4. Good vid btw
I honestly think the SkyWing timeline could use another look at. So, at the beginning of Escaping Peril, Tourmaline is about ten years old, right? That's about twenty-four years after Scarlet was married and became queen. Scarlet was only married for about twelve years. That means, in order for Tourmaline to have hatched, Canyon would have had to have been alive for another year or two for him to be Tourmaline's father. Unless Scarlet was able to retain sperm(like a lot of reptiles do), there's no way Canyon could be Tourmaline's father.
I’m a sucker for guide books on anything, ( I have a gravity falls, duck tales, and like all of the warriors ones :-; ) so when I found out this was coming and Tui was coming to my state I was ecstatic- I’m so happy I got to meet her ❤ she was amazing even tho it was like 10 at night 😭
Its so sad because the reason Burn's MudWing egg never hatched is because the egg didnt have its siblings to help it, so if shed just left it alone for a bit longer itd have lived
But, Dragonsheep did say, "Welcome back to Cooking with Sheepy" This implies that she has done a Cooking with Sheepy before, but I don't know whether thats true or not.
5:27 you see, in many languages (chinese) they use a logography, meaning each word is one glyph. (you can tell im going into mega-linguist mode from the word "glyph".) the process that turned the latin alphabet into an alphabet was super complicated and required multiple different people with different writing systems, a trait *not* found in WoF, therefore it would make the most sense for there to be a logography rather than an alphabet (or abjad, or abugida)
Addressing the question around 6:33, I've always assumed having *slaves* (in the form of the SilkWings) helped Pantalans develop, but writing it out it doesn't quite make as much sense. idk
I think the dragon symbol would have been the first Pyrriah. It is said that the theif stole the egg from the mountain, and Frank looks kinda like a type of skywing, specifically a queen.😮🤔
Of Mocassin OC vs guidebook Mocassin, Chapter 6 on Icewings has 12 or 20 icewings have the same name. So there'd prolly be 8 Winters in Icewing territory and a random Winter wandering Pyrrhia. Which, there are multiple oc's of same name to canon. Even suggested an OC name a friend, and bam forgot a Dune existed Book 1 having read years ago, then picked up Book 2-15 recently. In short same name could apply other tribes. Youll run out of ways to say "Clay" or any rocky sediment and names, its entirely possible.
I was kinda hoping for more information on the tribe’s religions and also not things specific to only one tribe, but I thought overall it was really good
6:45 probably all the wars. pantalan's had roughly a thousand years, if not more, for an entire continent of dragons to develop cool new shit. pyrrhia had the same amount of time, but interspersed with conflict, such as burned libraries and killed researchers, which would've made purrhian tribes a lot more reclusive.
I agree. Who drew jerboa and jerboa 2? They couldn’t just took a picture, but yet as a dragon I don’t think they would have had that many art supplies to do that
2:46 This is actually a cover story. What actually happens is they become the Legendary Nightwing, a Nightwing warrior destined to appear every thousand years, with horns and talons tinted green, they become a truly unstoppable force of nature, but the Nightwing that was born under the comet (Broccoli) was killed early in life after unleashing too much of his power and killing himself in the process trying to stop a great disaster that could end the Night Tribe.
Maybe the reason its in book form is that cricket or someone once they got to pyrrhia (note: ive only read to book 13 so-) they told them about the books?
