Two great comedic actors. I've been a fan of John Cleese since I was a kid. Censoring comedy is the death of freedom. Going back to the olden days, many of the Monty Python skits could never be done today. Or movies like the Pink Panther series with Peter Sellers and,Herbert Lom, could never be produced today. Both are hysterically funny. What a sad world we live in where laughter must be controlled.

I grew up in the cult known as Jehovahs witnesses and they had a similar mentality as woke. They have a moral trump card to control others behavior. You could wear a red dress and a moral superior thinks it is brazen to wear red and say “I am stumbled”. If you stumble someone you are pulled into the back room. You could say “but it’s just a red dress, nothing is wrong with it? But the response is “is wearing that dress more important than someone’s life?” Woke mentality feels like this to me. You are afraid to step one foot in front of the other for fear of “triggering” someone. What’s sad is that I accept everyone and love everyone and a lot of the people who are cancelled are accepting of everyone. They just made a joke to make people laugh. People always forget that the road to Hell is paved with good intentions...Pride is the gravest sin but now it is celebrated for a month to promote "inclusion", "acceptance" and "woke". That is one paved road to hell.

Woke is a present tense verb that comes from the word Awake. Nobody has ever described the concept of "Woke or Wokeism" to my satisfaction. It sounds like a term contrived by pseudo intellectuals because they are taken in by the onomatopoeia of the sound of WOKE/WOKEISM. They use the word without developing any substance behind what they are wanting to intend. That is, such people have no grasp on language itself. And what Rob and John are talking about is Freudian transference. People who are easily offended are showing problems they experienced between the ages 1-5 when the personality is still developing. And it usually has to do with the stages when learning about urinating and defecation. Traumas can easily develop here and carry on into adulthood. That is what I am hearing from their conversation. This tells me that people who have Freudian Transference mannerisms are playing out the traumas of the early age of child development. They use the word/term WOKE like a child who is still learning how to sound out words before they learn to understand the word. They don't grasp what they are trying to say, so they use a word that sounds like it packs a punch. I will look for the term that describes this.

But, in regards to our favorite films of the past 45 years... Those films were in reaction to the norms of the time. We do want to be offended by Nazis. The fact that a few episodes of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia got "banned" from Hulu probably just caused their DVD/BluRay sales to go up, and also definitely caused some youtube reactors to react to the "banned episodes". Some of those youtube reactors are black btw...and I am fairly certain that in every video I saw, they were laughing heavily when watching the banned content. And not that that awkward fake laughter...that visceral: "that is so hilariously messed up" kind of laughter. So it was a win anyways for the artists and content creators and commentary reviewers/reactors? Fake wokeness fails even when it succeeds?

So many young left wing people attacking John Cleese now seem to be completely unaware that he is and always has been left leaning, politically. He pushed back against conservative prudishness and authoritarianism famously throughout his life. He has not changed. He is still a rationalist, with core left wing values. What HAS changed is current day prevailing left wing ideology ....it has shifted to have more in common with the conservative prudishness and control that he railed against in the past. It's so strange to me, seeing him join forces with conservatives to push back against it all.
