In this installment, my friend Fade is showing off his brand new Wolbrook Skindiver Worldtimer watch. He opted for the Automatic Miyota 8215 powered version with the sapphire crystal. Instagram Fade - @Schtozo Me - @Evel_Custom
@@evelcustom9864 what about the second hand stutter? And noisy rotor? It also only unidirectionally winds. All this makes for what sounds like a crap movement. Are they going to go to a better movement? Shame because the watch looks fantastic.
@@gmotionedc5412 my pal Fadi, who actually has the watch and did this unboxing is very happy with it. True that the base Miyota has its quirks, buy it's also an accurate and very dependable movement, and that's what you actually need in a skindiver. As far as the unidirectional winding, aside from it sounding less desirable theoretically, I've never heard of anyone having any issues with it. In fact, there are a number of high end watches that use a unidirectional winding set up, including Patek. In the end it's a matter of what you are looking for. If you want a well executed modern vintage aesthetic, this is a good way to go. If the movement specs are more important, I'd say go Baltic or Longines for a well executed vintage feel.
@@evelcustom9864 got it thanks man. I honestly don’t need another watch but the wolbrook auto with green bezel and beads of rice strap checks all my physical likes in a watch. The price is $584 before tax and shipping maybe. Now we all know most movements are 10 bucks so why didn’t wolbrook use a sellita or ETA even if it was an extra 50 bucks!?? That’s nothing and completes the packages!! It just confounds common sense for wolbrook to cut corners on the heart of the machine. I guess it pisses me off which is why I’m so passionate in trying to understand the thinking. If it was just to save 20 bucks that was a big mistake. This watch could have been a big hit. The one I’m talking about. Here is the link wolbrook.com/products/skindiver-wt-automatic-bracelet-watch-green-bezel-steel
@@gmotionedc5412 I get it, for sure. I do think that you are a bit off on the price of the movements. ETA 2824s sell for well over $200 at the dealer price (obviously it would be less for bulk, but not only $50 more than the Miyota). I think the right choice would have been the Miyota 9015 like Spinnaker and Lorier use. It's a fantastic movement, high beat, very crisp action. I think primarily they went cheaper because this was a starting our project. I do hope they kick it up into higher gear if they will be charging $500 for an auto.
