wow, they're great. Great Guitars, what a voice, she can sing glam, punk, indie. Good songs. And if that wasn't enough, she's cute and hot. Buy the LP is worthy
the French engineers are used to mixing vocals upfront, which is the main feature of French pop music, partly because of the (too great ?) importance of song lyrics in this country. It sure suits Ellie's voice.
I always felt like the 90's hadn't spent itself. This is new music for sure but hits on some of the best themes from that decade. The lead lady is cool and all but the rest of the band kicks ass too. The cameras could give them some more credit, all four of them are real musicians. I like how unpretentious they seem to be.
I agree with everything you just said. I'm a child of the 60's & 70's. This is the best live band I've heard since Nirvana, and the Foo Fighters. They actually write songs and are musicians. There is hope...
Jed A : I agree when I discovered this band I said wow these kids from London are incredibly talented they understand the concepts of music ! these kids are gifted just incredible live performance and a joy to watch I saved everything I’ve ever seen on these kids💝💝💝
No $hit! I Mean, I hear this, and compare it to the so called "mixing" in the U.S.A. videos and it's almost immediately apparent that the "sound engineers" in the U.S.A. are severely lacking in their craft! the vocals here are at the optimal level compared with the rest of the band and 'somehow' EVERY vid from them in the states has the vocals WAY TOO LOW....how does that happen?! it's apparent, live mixing engineers in the states, are severely lacking in talent and quality. At this point they really need to step their game up.
Canal+ has a long history of great recorded live performance (search them on RU-vid; from Nirvana, Oasis, to Klaxons or Block Party); search "Best of Lives de Nulle Part Ailleurs"
@@aikighost I'd look at the codec(s) before assuming it was always that way. UPDATE: there is a brickwall at 16kHz, which is too high for me. What's more noticeable is the lack of sustained HF eg off the overheads, which points to a dead room. I guess that's fairly normal for a TV studio. There's decent reverb on the vox but nothing on the kit.
Cool as my love for them may be, it sure does make my stomach hurt with its intensity. And yes, Ellie is fucking gorgeous, beautiful, cool, lovely, cute, adorable, precious, and more.
Nothing really new in "rock and roll" nowadays. But I love "new wave" the energy of this band who remind me of early Duke Spirit and a cross between Hole and Penetration.
wow, awesome performance! Great job on the live mixing....Unfortunately every live performance I've seen of them in the U.S.A. has huge issues in mixing the vocals, Come on U.S.A. sound engineers! WTF?! this live sound mix puts you to shame! Everything, Drums, guitar, bass, and especially VOCALS are all at perfect levels! Best performance I've seen by them thus far....meaning France has better sound technicians than in the States!...Learn your Craft or make way for people who Know WTF they are doing, Can take a note of what live FRENCH sound technicians did here! Get your $hit together American Sound Technicians as you're embarrassing your selves....repeatedly... (MTV,KEXP, Lollapalooza, ETC.) Awesome music AND LIVE MIX from an amazing band (sorry America has #ucked up your sound mixes thus far, but we love your music!)
I'll be honest this is too... idk what the right term would be...meandering(?) / airy... for me. I can imagine it being good backing music in a film soundtrack. They are a decent live band for show tho (y) I just personally prefer music with wee bit more intensity and aggressiveness. Nice to see more girls in rock appearing though :)
it sucks they have to deal with the whole commentary of them being 'too 90's. maybe they should throw in a synth-player and a fucking trombonist or something to vary the sound a bit. & those striped shirts have to go. too synonymous with kurt cobain and thom yorke from that period.
