I am amazed. You gift us, almost every day, with another compilation of great musical works. And also often, you unknowingly introduce me to conposers, whose names I've never heard of before. Thank you for that. Music is just...ah, undescribeable.
Wolf-Ferrari is a neglected composer. I presume his late-romanticism was regarded as old-fashioned in his day when the likes of Stravinsky, Walton - not to mention the serialists - were all the rage. The quintet could almost have been written by Schumann, not what his contemporaries wanted or expected. Today we are better able to appreciate the composer for his intrinsic worth, having got over the 'appeal' of modernism/serialism.
