Hi Chad. Thank you for a comprehensive yet easy to follow instructional video. One thing that puzzles me - do you not need to reduce the size of the male part so that it fits snugly into the female?
@chadbookman1382

No because it’s a v carve inlay.

Great info. Thanks! Would be interested to see your press. Also, have you used a vacuum bag?

I am going to get around to doing a video on my press. I have not tried a vacuum bag. I wasn’t sure of the durability

if i want to cheat the machine using a 5 degrees tapered ball nose end mill so i can get more detail how i can turn this too into a v-carv tool
@gooberman50
@gooberman50 2 года назад
Do you use the same parameters regardless of bit angle? Obviously less detail vectors, but does same number add up if 90 or 60 degree bits were used?

I use the same bits every time. I haven't used a 60 or 90 for this process so I couldn''t tell you specifically

Chad I have watched this wolf video and I have not been able to figure the start but I see you use a ball endmill with a 6.2 taper and you call it a vbit. so you do not use the rad but that is not going to give a true dia. my males always come small i had to change my start depth to .05 and my finish depth of .150 and it fits pretty close. so where am i going wrong. and I would love to see your pneumatic press Marcel deman

I do use the 12.4 tbn entered as a v bit. The tip has such a small radius it essentially comes to a point. Feel free to email me with any questions bhlwoodworks@gmail.com

With male .05 being max depth (inside gap between pocket and male), is that enough gap to make it have a hollow sound when tapping on cutting block? Others say it should be closer to .02 when it comes to cutting blocks so no hollow sound when tapping. Non-cutting block inlays are good at .05. Your boards look real clean but have never seen any of your videos showing tapping on the inlay and am curious. Thank you!

I’ve stuck with the same depth for a while and have had no issues. I have actually changed some settings and need to do an updated video. 😊

Hi i have a doubt, you are doing both carving on the same side so if i want to make it fit perfectly one of the vectors should backwards right ?

Yes the male is mirrored then carved

When I do the inlay, the pieces dont fit. I'm using Amana 45780.

That bit has a flat tip. I use the amana 46473 (12.4) or the amana 45611 (15)
