Oh wow. That's going back even before my time. One thing for sure is that Lon Chaney was an incredible horror movie actor who has been long forgotten. He was an actor during the silent pictures time and what made him so great was not just his acting. It was his amazing knowledge of makeup application to obtain the best effects. The actors at that time were responsible for doing their own makeup. It was part of the trade. He did a fantastic job in London after midnight, based on a Jack the Ripper, Jekyll and Hyde character. Then when he did Phantom of the opera, well let's just say he blew it right out of the water. His son Chaney Jr. Unfortunately didn't make it so well in the movie business but left us with the Iconic look and style of hi his original version of the werewolf. These statues of those monster characters created by those great movie legends, does pay them homage for such great work. They are all fantastic and love them alot. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Love that they kept it monochrome for the London After Midnight figure. Great sculpt. And that Phantom is so iconic. Another great sculpt. But that Wolf-Man, that steals it. Not to mention he's my favorite Universal Monster.
The classic monsters of the silent/Universal era need more love these days. I'd love to see some more greats statues/busts of Dracula.the Wolfman,Creature from the Black Lagoon;etc.
This is the first time I've heard about London after Midnight. Sucks hearing about what happened to that last copy. It's dope you're showing off these statues, can't wait to see tomorrows picks!
Like the change of pace with the horror sculpts. london after midnight the best of this bunch and given the history of the film a really cool statue to have.
Sideshow did most of their Universal Monsters line in color AND in black-and-white. Great options depending on what you wanted to use them for. I have a mix of them, including all three of these. Great video, Gem.
Thanks for this unboxing. I do love the Universal Monsters. They were some of my first introductions to the horror genre, of which to this day, I am a fan.
Nice change of pace from the usual superhero statues, Gem. Before I moved away from the 1/6 figure game, once owned the silver screen version of Nosferatu. This line was pretty cool for its' day. Thanks for highlighting them!
Another great line of monster status definitely love them especially the warwolf one it is so freaking awesome and first one has freaking scary face to it
@@GemMintCollectibles Yea, i collected all the Universal Monster figures 6” and 12” back when SS was called “SideshowToy” but when these 1/4 scale statues came out i was saving money for my house 😂
These pieces are dope for sure! if I were into horror pieces these definitely would be in my collection. But you never know, I do have a predator piece so, if I did go into horror, I know my first piece would be the Freddy Krueger statue.
