Listen to the lyrics closely... He wants her to eat but also loves her. It's pretty sad, so many mixed emotions.

What I always founds strange was that it was in Grimm's version of the story that the Huntsman rescues her and her grandmother whereas it was in Perrault's version that she gets eaten. Here I'm especially thinking of the morale at the end of Perrault's version, where it warns us that it's the charming, courteous wolves that are always the most dangerous.

So basically what I believe happened is that the girl actually did die after her wrist got cut. (I'm stubborn, and I really wanted to know what happened, so after some research and planning, I found out this) So basically, the wrist has two arterys on both sides. One is called the Radial artery the other is called the Ulnar artery. If he had pierced her in the middle of these two artery the chance of death would be lower. But since his claws pierced both sides, it means he would have cut both her arterys (which would be a definite death sadly.) Also another thing I thought I'd mention is; when he was still in his human form it showed him change positions from close to her neck (holding her wrists), then closer to her face (intertwining his fingers between hers). The lyrics talked about 'your final kiss belongs to me' so thats what I'm guessing he was planning to do, judging by his expression (if ya know what I mean 😏). But since the scene after showed the full moon, that probably signified that was the reason why he ended up changing forms and killing her, since it wasn't in his control. The memories shown after were to show just how much he really was intrigued and interested by her, but after the memories, it showed time in the present after he had turned back to human, he realized what he had done, and dropped her hand knowing she was gone. The last scene showed him looking up at the moon probably heart broken, that no matter what, he couldn't be with the girl he loved. 😢♥ The last thing I thought I'd mention is the fact that he keeps mentioning crimson and a variety of different reds. Yes, crimson basically means red, BUT since he kept repeating 'crimson river from your veins, crimson river soothes my pain' it might mean that just like a dog can't see the color red, the wolf might not be able to see himself finding love, or in his case 'understanding love' causing his pain. 💞😔 OK I know this comment is really hella long, but I swear this is the last thing; when the lyrics sing 'puella lupo inferno interfecto est' it means the girl was killed by the hell wolf, BUT 'my red right hand' actually refers to the vengeful hand of god (according to Milton) meaning her death would be avenged by him. The Wolf Song is based on Red Riding Hood because the original story is about how a girl is becoming a woman - so her mum finally lets her go to her grandma's on her own. The red cloak is meant to show her becoming an adult because it symbolises menstruation. The wolf is a strange man who wants to sleep with her and the story is about how not to trust strange men especially when you just start puberty. That is what the song is about because it is based on the classic fairytale. He is not in love with her, it is not love

Many ask of she was killed or not, and this animatic leaves it sort of open to interpretation. However I really listened and read the lyrics carefully and I gathered that this is about a mercy kill. She's been abandoned by her family, heart broken, cold and alone. An animal of instinct and unjudging nature discovers her. Undoubtedly he is lustful and lonely himself, however is too wild to properly love her. "Take thy red hand and set me free." Transfixed by the man's charm and also scared she in the end loses the will to fight. The wolf is confused, a mate or an easy meal... the hunger wins the fight and he delivers her death to end the pain. It appears that he hates his nature after the deed is done and mourns over the body before close. I guess it could be sad. But at least she's at peace.

I wish this was made into a anime or something...like a Anime movie or serise...is it just me who thinks that????

Ok so some ppl are saying the wolf is colorblind cause he’s a dog (well canine) but that’s not actually true, dogs can see most colors, except red or green, so the question is..why does he keep saying crimson? My theory is, seeing as when he’s a wolf he can’t see red, the color is very noticeable and strange to him, and when he’s a human, he finds himself attracted to it. Yup I’m over analyzing again. xD

found this when I was probably 9 or 10 years old. And I fell in love with it right on the spot. I loved it SO deeply. But then I lost it... and I've been searching on and off thought out MANY MANY years. And today! I have finally found it!! I have no words to express how my heart feels, to have finally found something that I had loved so deeply that I had lost. Finding it and watching reminded me of how my life used to be before life hit. It reminded me of me before foster care. 💖💖 Thank you SO MUCH for creating this. 🥰 EDIT: THIS HAS A WEB COMIC NOW???? I've watched this like a thousand times! I love it! I feel kind of sad for the 🐺 cause he shows conflicting attitudes, he wants to protect her but he keeps saying that her blood calls him. hmmmmmm.... very thought provoking. Amazing animation! Thanks for this inspiration.

I feel like this story can be taken in another, more metaphorical way. Like how Red is a young lady who is entering womanhood, which would be the forest, and the Wolf is a man who wishes to rob her of her innocence(i.e the cloak). "Throw thy cloak aside to feed me" can be taken as to give her innocence away to become his, and when he says "The Obedient Daughter" can be also taken that if she plays clueless and young she would get nowhere. In the end, he 'kills' her, meaning he took the cloak she needed to escape with, leaving her forever terrified to continue through the forest in fear of meeting another horrible man. Just a small thought, nothing much. I liked the idea and these characters are so peculiar.

It would have been a different story if she didn't go on a full moon

Okay, so here's my take on this entire thing-i'll leave a bit of a trigger warning here, since the subject does contain the theory of sexual assault. The red cloak she wears symbolises her maturity as a growing woman, the bright red color resembling menstrual blood, but it could also mean her purity and virginity, yet underneath that cloak she is still somewhat naive, considering she took the wolf's hand in the beginning, not because he essentially enchanted her, because she didn't recognise the sheer danger she was in until it was too late. The wolfman and how he continues to mention the red features of the female states that she is new and fresh to him, he is intrigued and curious since most canines can't recognise the color red, so in his human form her shocking red cloak attracts him, it can also be her purity and overall naivety that attracts him, more so her virginity. The forest represents the open world, in the flashbacks we see red riding hood given the basket of goods to take to her grandmother's house, this task represents her going off into the real world, more so she becoming an adult and experiencing becoming an adult. The wolf looms said woods because he's used to living in them, he can navigate them, or even more so, navigate the world or the city streets, another reason why he may be so attracted to her is because she isn't yet used to the woods, she's an easy target. Her tripping over her red cloak basically resembles the idea is that she wasn't ready to leave the nest in the first place. We can only assume that she wasn't taught how to exactly care for herself when alone and about, so her own curiosity in the wolf man essentially led to her doom, that curiosity and childlike nature in the cloak. In the end where he's looming over her said corpse and he has a look of regret on his face is him coming to realise what type of monster he's become, I tend to believe he raped her, he stole her virginity, tore her red veins and the red cloak like he tore her-well, hymen. Thank you for reading this, I am sure that it will get flagged, but I don't mind.

I’ve watched this so many times over the past year and a half, and I think I have three basic ideas of the plot; So, this girl is navigating the forest, but in her village it’s a tradition( hence the sacred slaughter line). The wolf hold a grip of fear, and they send young girls into the woods to satisfy the wolf. The wolf can’t tell whether he loves her or if she is prey, so he ‘plays’ around with her. Hence all the final kiss, throw your cloak aside to feed him lines, etc. OR The girl is navigating the twisted dark paths of life. The wolf is the representation of the darkest parts of life. Then the part about feeding him would be to settle his lust for her. OR It’s like Dany herself said. She put the forest and representation of life and the wolf in as a predator. The cloak represents her virginity, which he steals from her. She could or could not be dead at the end. It’s either her cloak or blood. Depends on the person. Everyone interprets art differently.

My Theory- This wolf found his mate and to bite her is to mark her, hes in love with her but shes a scared human- he wants to make her happy but she keeps running, his wolf takes over and he accidentally hurts her and he realises he has hurt the one he loves when his human form returns

I don't really think he killed her, I think he stopped himself midway though. Instead, he traumatized the poor girl, I mean before looking closer at the pic I also thought she died. Her traumatized expression...best one I've ever seen good job👌

Every time a new chapter of the webtoon comes out I come back to watch this. I've been invested in this story for seven years. I'm so excited!!

Did anyone else notice the shadows at 1:44? Also, I hope you can make this a full animation someday.

Little critique. (i know this is from 2014, doesn't hurt to take a look at old work from time to time) Love how the work is done, the frames work really well and match with the lyrics. You have a really unique style that is just beautiful. Though what i would love to have seen is a nice polished animation rather than the key-frames. In most parts i dont think the arrows were needed, though i understand why to show the direction of movement. In most frames it was quite obvious of the direction (walking and falling) I think the arrows of the head movements would stay. Otherwise it was a lovely video to watch and thank you for creating it.

Comments statistics: 20% comments trying to find out the true story 20% comments saying that they ship the wolf and red 20% comments yelling "NO CAPES!" 30% comments saying that the wolf is attractive 5% commenting about the animation, art or something random. 5% plus me. SCROLLING through the comments and sometimes thinking: "Damn thats a good comment, why the heck didn't I think of it?"

when the wolf face popped up ( 4:22 ) i started cracking up because all i could think of was insanity wolf.

I feel like I've assisted a stalking and a rape that ended in the death of the victim. This song is marvelous and touching, the animation is so fitting and makes me cry thinking about all the young girls who have encountered horrible men in their lives. I watched this animation when I was a teenager, I'm glad to watch it again after several years.

Okay so i never really invested in Red Riding Hood that much but what it seems like to me is that the the village has the wolf in the woods and it wants girls at certain times in maybe certain years and so in a way to protect The Village when the year and time comes around they pick a certain girl around the right age and then sends her into the wood to be a sacrifice to the wolf and for him to do anything to her even kill her, and they put the red cloak on the girls to show that they're of age and are virgins now what i think is that shes not dead, I think that this actually is a love thing I think that he fell in love with this girl and then it kept her and what I think that shocked face is this is that I think he might have turned her into a werewolf since he had his claw in her wrist and his face was right by her neck he may have bit her, then turned her so she can be with him forever, and also that big red pedal I don't think that's blood it is her Red Cloak because we all saw that he took it off of her and I don't think he would have took it out from underneath of her and threw it somewhere cuz that would just be a waste of time and also can't you see that in the last picture at 4:49 he is sitting on her knees, her knees would have gave out if she was dead and especially since there is weight on them I think that she is alive and he keeps her alive and he doesn't take anymore sacrifices from the village and just keeps her.
