I'd like to thank Chris @ Wolf Ridge for taking the time out of his busy day yesturday. He did a great job going over the many questions I had about his products. At the end of our chat, my decision was made. Now is the hard part... waiting for my machine to be completed. It was a pleasure doing business with Chris. Keep up the great work neighbor 👍. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if you called me sooner to say, " your machine is ready" Keep that in mind my friend! Thank you so much!

My dad built one 40 years ago. Back then they were kind of a new thing. If only he pursued his idea he'd have built an empire, God rest his soul. I still use it to this very day, though its gone through many upgrades she is still a go to machine.

Really nice machine Chris...if I could make a suggestion it would be the return bar. Maybe if it were a little longer it would pull the log back a bit straighter.

I think this machine would be wonderful for bundles and those smaller fire place stoves. Plus the giant rounds I could get way more free wood if I pulled the trigger on one

Nice machine Chris. I agree I don’t see the awe in a box wedge. If I wanted a chipper I’d buy or build one. It reminds me of the seeing the road ditches/tree lines after country comes thru with a boom mower. The retract arm may perform better if it were longer as others have stated. Is mr Easton over visiting?...I see there is a jcb skiddy in the background 😆

Suggestion: If you put a tarp under the wedge, it will serve as a catch pan, and make clean up of the small pieces a lot easier. ;-)) Shalom/gw

Chris: With only four 3-1/2" box Wedges, with that size round. You need to rotate the round. to better fit your wedges, or go to a Five way wedge. I use this method with my Eastonmade 12-22 an its box wedges. Plus an extra set of hands helps with the larger rounds.
@WolfeRidgeSplitters
@WolfeRidgeSplitters Год назад
Our box wedges allow 6 pieces out the bottom. We do recommend to rotate as needed for over sized logs too. Thanks!

Hey Chris, I think your box wedge splitter will be a great success. Glad to see you include other splitter head options. One thing I am wondering though, is when split wood drops into a conveyor, if most chutes are wide enough to catch all the split wood, or will some will end up on the the ground because that table looks pretty wide. I believe you manufacturer conveyors too, so I assume you have one that is wider than the outfeed table on this monster?
@WolfeRidgeSplitters
@WolfeRidgeSplitters 2 года назад
Yes sir, we make the conveyor funnel slightly wider than the sorting table on our splitters. They work great together, we have a couple videos on our channel with the 35C and 24 ft conveyor

Very nice machine Chris however it does make an awful lot of kindling, however I couldn’t help but notice the return arm needs to be a little bit longer so that it will pull the block back straight and prevent it from turning on you I noticed you had to manipulate the block multiple times but overall what a stout machine

@Houseworksaws
@Houseworksaws 11 месяцев назад
Sculch is always a pain to deal with especially if you’re trying to deliver right off the conveyor. The homeowner stacks their wood then they have a BIG mess on the ground. Hence the reason the big outfits all run their wood through a trommel or tumbler so they don’t get the angry phone calls lol 😆. I worked for a place that does 6800 cord a year and all of it is screened before it gets wind rowed then screened again before it gets loaded for delivery.

Looks great! The idea to move it with a set of forks is good but I would not trust most people. The danger of hitting the engine, battery or oil cooler is too high. Have you thought about capping off the box sections on the engine side?? What size and brand is your oil cooler? They are hard to find in NZ...

Just an observation, it looks to as I watched the video that if you turned the top bevel of the wedge down into the box it might create less trash.

@chlyon

First impressions , looks right , second impression pretty close to perfect design , Id say the pull back arm could do with being 6 inches longer , to stop that tendency for the round to go off to the side . I sell a few cheap chinese processors down here in NZ , so I spend most my days pointing out defects . :{ . I recon someone should make a oversized bobcat type splitter to attach to a large tractor or loader WITH A BOX WEDGE on it to process 4 m long logs of sizes of 40-80cm (16 to 32 inch D)
