Wolfheart is one of those bands where you need to have all of their material. Tuomas Saukkonen never disappoints. BTW he shared this vid on his facebook page.
All Melo-death is like that man. Calming. I can listen to Be'lakor to fall asleep. Not because theyre bad. But because theyre so relaxing and set my mind to rest.
Smithysmithin Exactly. I fall asleep with headphones softly playing melodic metal alot of the time. It's something I would never just volunteer the information to someone not into metal because it would probably sound insane lol. But it's so calming once you try it it becomes a metalheads luliby. I've fallen asleep to Anciients more than I wanna admit in the last month or so lol. They're somewhat melodic and I swear I'm always snoozing within two tracks. Also to be clear... Anciients, with two i's. Not the Norwegian black metal band "Ancient". For anyone who happens to see this and wanna look them up.
Thanks for the suggestion. Im gonna check that album out! I only recently started reaching deeper into melo-death. But I just listened to Insomniums album "Shadows of a Dying Sun." I'm in love with it. Such great melodies. So calming and beautiful. The more i listen to it, the more i feel its my favorite genre/sub-genre. But, its not a far stretch when my favorite band is Draconian. :)
Ben Gibbard Me too! I used to crash to Ignorance by Sacred Reich when I was in high school, among other heavy offerings. The last couple of nights I've been sleeping to Winterborn. That is a fucking glorious album. Beginning to end just perfect.
Wolfheart are pretty good, but Be'lakor are the kings of modern melodeath in my opinion. Now, I will admit that Wolfheart and Be'lakor really can't be compared fairly as they're two totally different styles of melodeath, but still.
nevertweet015 2 years may be consider recent. But its stretching. Id pull for 1 year at most for recent, but thats only allowed in music and movies, maybe books. Recent in everyday conversation would mean at most a few months. So forgive me when i say that i dont consider 2 years recent.
Lyrics: Profound is the grief Fathomless and downhearted silence Overwhelms like a flood Drowns into deep dark waters The ocean floor Somber and bleary surrounding Beneath the ice Frozen surface has begun To block the light of the sun The absence of light Breeds an altered reality Faithful and familiar Desolation, despair Like a dead space inside of me Creates a zero gravity Existence without intention Footprints on the snow Covered by the frozen rain from the north A trace leading into the dark Grand isolation Cold is the air to inhale Cold is the heart impaired Glacial blood runs in your veins Pitch-black and frosty ichor More of his masterpieces here: www.metal-archives.com/artists/Tuomas_Saukkonen/5966 ru-vid.com/group/PL12AB7C07A46C1A60 ru-vid.com/group/PLLq2HbjEY_hqmWbyF6cJw7vUTCVh7nXDb
Wolfheart is absolutely awesome band and it is hard to choose the best album, but if I had to I would say Winterborn (just listen to Routa pt.2 or Hunt and you will understand). And they are not just great musicians, but also great people. I got to speak with them in backstage at the Brutal Assault (since I was there as a volunteer) because I wanted to get my drum sticks signed, but they also invited me for a beer and we talked about random shit for like half an hour, didn't get to speak to Tuomas that much, since he was chatting with somebody else, but Mika and Lauri are such cool and funny guys. It was one of my best moments of my life probably
Hey did you know there are fridges all over Europe filled with free beer that only open for Canadians with their IDs? You guys deserve it for being the best kind of people on Earth
The first album Winterborn lay the foundations of the band as Tuomas Saukkonen (growl in that track) made it all alone. He is a self-made-man (composer, songwriter, vocalist, acoustic and melodic guitars, bass, drums) and he undertook plethora of other bands before the Wolfheart project. If you want to check out Before the dawn - Dying Sun
Calacticcriminal you should look up wolfheart frontmans other bands (before the dawn) tuomas saukkonen is a genius. Ps he plays all instrument himselfs! Please react to before the dawn dying sun. Pleaaaaaseee
I agree "wolfheart"edly about the peaceful energy after listening to this song. Zero Gravity is from their Shadow World album. It is excellent, but I personally like Winterborn, the first album. Tuomas (lead vocals), in my opinion, created the best two songs on this album, Routa PT.2 and Gale of Winter. I am put completely at ease on my way home from work when I listen to both.
I recently came upon Wolfheart listening to the song, Boneyard, for the first time and holy shit did they rise to be one of my favorite top bands immediately! I bought a shirt from them and of course I pre-cut the sleeves haha
Digging that beard man. Thats what I'm trying to go for rn haha. Just about a year or so and I might catch up. This song was a banger, so thanks for letting me hear it with u man!. Keep up the awesome and entertaining vids!
I know what you mean. It's like the feeling of fire and Ice, soothing chaos, Serenity meets turmoil, that warmth of comfort from depression. Peace from Death. There's isn't really a true definition word for those meanings. However, I like to call it a peaceful storm.
so long there is heavy music, the world has still hope. great band and have to say that vocalist looks like galacticriminal bro :) thanx to great reaction and have wonderful day there.
Great song to start off with. Wolfheart - The Hunt i would have to recommend next its fuckin good shit. Their lead vocalist Tom Saukkonen is a beast you'll find out why :)
Hey man, you did a great job reviewing it :D I would recomend all three ;) believe me, the sadness hidden in the first one, the power of destruction in the second one and the emptiness of the third one are perfectly noted together. I usually listen to them all in one sitting :D Also if oyu lie them then surely check out Tuomases former projects Before The Dawn, Black Sun Aeon, Dawn Of Solace and Routasielu, you will find out that Wolfheart really is combination of the best from them all ;)
If you like Wolfheart, Omnium Gatherum or Insomnium you will also like Countless Skies (named after the Song from Belakor). Especially the Songs Daybreak and Ethereal are crossing into my mind all the time. They are kind of different in the singing, cause they switch between clean singing and growling, what gives theyre songs a special feeling that is hard to describe.
Glad you checked these guys out. Based on what you felt after watching it, I'd recommend At The Gates - The Book Of Sand (The Abomination)! The vocalist sounds like an insane doomcaller or something, and the music just gives me chills down my spine.
GC, I live in a town that has NO Winter : 32-deg C when its -5 to 10 deg C elsewhere in Oz. About the only downside is that its not conducive to sitting by the fire and kicking back to a few tunes while a gale blows outside, but I can live with that. Thanks for the vid.
It gets even more funny when you realize Tuomas did everything himself in the beginning. Everything, down to the albums artwork. We call him a 'one man army' with a reason.
Tuomas is a Viking God! Everything he is involved in is just amazing! Have you listened to Before the Dawn? He does vocals and plays guitar with them as well.
Yes. Metal calms me, too. (Some bands more than others) Some people, especially I think us northern / highland / viking / adventure folk, find peace in savage music and extreme things, because that's in our blood, our cultural and genetic heritage and memory, it seems. I still live and work in the frozen mountains and it can be harsh and even hostile. I fall mostly dead / hazard / killer / wid'r maker type trees & burn hundreds of tons of dead fuel for fire prevention... stuff like that. Physically punishing stuff and I'm well into my 60s and there's real bodily pain involved I assure you, but xtreme work and extreme music can be strong medicine. And those of us with hearts like the savage weather and wilderness feel a peaceful kinship there, like we're finally home again. Good job!
Maaan a suggestion for you. A big one: Others by no one-Dr. Breacher and the time travel anomaly. It's 10 minutes long, but it deserves every single minute. (Also, the video version it's just half the original song :p)
Tuomas Saukkonen is the man with so big balls he needs XXXXL size pants! You got the respect people like him who can play any instrument and do growling like that.
Tuomas Saukkonen is a god. Would love to see a reaction to Mycelia - Drop the Baby (Swiss deathcore-ish stuff) and Vorna - Yksin or Aalloista (or Vaipunut if you like ballads)..they're from finland, no need to say more :D
Didn't see it yet on your channel. Since you liked a lot of folk metal bands, you will absolutely love Ensiferum- One man Army. If I am wrong, I will change my name to Betty and start listening to Pop music. Even though I am a guy. Edit: Remembered you like accordians in metal. So if you want something newer from them + accordian the alternative is Ensiferum -Way of the warrior.
Tuomas Saukkonen is a fucking genius. Any band he has been in is excellent. Also check out Black Sun Aeon, Before the Dawn, or RoutaSeilu. Different vibes but great nonetheless.
Hey man! I recently saw one of your older videos when you reacted to FKU. They have recently realised a new album and 2 of my favorite songs : 1981 and Friday The 13th part 2. You should check some of them out. You wont be dissapointed!!
Try Dawn Of Solace - Lead wings. Side project of the singer and main guy Tuomas Saukkonen from this band. Just a different tone. Tuomas also plays all the instruments in it but it has clean vocals.
The absence of light Breeds and altered reality Faithful and familiar Desolation, despair Like a dead space inside of me Creates a zero gravity Existence Without intention
Are you badass enough? so type in your search box Alghazanth and choose anything and blow your mind. Sad that there aren't any videos but the music, the f*cking music!
Hi! You should react some fast songs from Wolfheart's album Tyhjyys - Boneyard, World On Fire, The Rift. They are really amazing (like all songs of this group).
I'm commenting about Ne Obliviscaris one more time because, their song Curator has an official music video, probably the better song to check out. Just discovered you, all I can say is hell yeah \m/
u mean he HAD few more....hes ended all other ones, and been focusing just Wolfheart like 3-4 year now, and with that band they just realize album number 3 in last year =D....but yea truth, u find hes other earlier stuff in quit bit at youtube.
It would be amazing if you checked out Downhill or scissorlips by Rishloo. They're a progressive rock/alternative metal band with some of the most unique and beautiful sounds. I feel they're song Downhill will give you a little of everything they have to offer.
Great pick! Yes, now you know about this band, but you still have not checked out Omnium Gatherum..! A great melodeath band waiting for you, Mr. Red Beard
