Highlights of the FA Cup 4th Round Replay between Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday at Molineux on 8th February 1995.
After a 0-0 draw in the first match at Hillsborough that included an 87th minute penalty save from Wolves goalkeeper Paul Jones, Wolves returned to Molineux for the replay just over a week later. Graham Taylor's Wolves team were chasing promotion from the First Division to the Premier League and were obvious underdogs against their top-flight opponents Wednesday. In their previous match, Wolves had lost 5-1 at promotion rivals Bolton Wanderers while Wednesday had beaten Arsenal 3-1 at Hillsborough to leave Trevor Francis' team 8th in the Premier League.
The strength of Taylor's team that season was in attack; Wolves were leading scorers at the end of their league campaign with 77 goals, with David Kelly forming a good strike partnership with Steve Bull. However, despite the imposing presence of Wolves captain and former Netherlands international John De Wolf, who joined Wolves from Feyenoord in December 1994, Wolves were profligate in defence - 61 goals conceded at the end of the season proved to be the worst record in the top half of the division.
Wednesday had proven to be a very formidable cup team in the 1990s; their League Cup Final success in 1991 was closely followed by losing appearances in both League and FA Cup Finals in the 1992-93 season and an FA Cup Semi-final appearance two seasons later.
Following his move from Crystal Palace to Wednesday in September 1992, Mark Bright had initially formed a successful partnership with the talented striker David Hirst. However, Hirst became plagued by injuries and was absent for much of the 1994-95 season. Bright, though, continued to score and was Wednesday's highest goalscorer that season with 13 league and cup goals - the third consecutive season that he was the club's top-scorer.

I have never seen a less saveable penalty than Pressman's.

I was there and I can honestly say I have not only never seen a shot struck harder, but also more accurately. It had both. Incredible penalty!

This was a memorable game even though Wednesday lost. Waddle missing penalty again. But pressman the keeper scoring the best penalty ever taken!

Waddle was still class then.......Wolves should have gone up that season, cheated out of it by Bolton.....always struggled against them. Still, a great win against a Wednesday side that had a lot of good players....

Tony Gubba couldn't have sounded any more thrilled about Kevin Pressman's penalty if he tried

Watch that brings it all back. When I got back to the pub later there were a couple of glum faced Wolves fans who had dashed out at 2-0 down to escape the traffic thinking that all was lost. They were well pissed off at what they missed when we walked in singing, dancing and laughing about Twaddle.

It's my favourite pen of all time. If the keeper had gotten his hand to it the chances are he would've broken his wrist!

25:40 That really was an awful penalty. Can anyone remember what his one in the first game was like? 26:49 To be fair, Pearce had already missed and 78 year-old Peter Shilton wouldn't have saved a penalty that night if each German player had taken ten each! So although it was Waddle's miss which brought the game to an end, the damage had already been done and England still would've lost if he'd scored.

I was there that night and what a night. Waddle never had a prayer with the pen, the video does not do it justice, the din as he made the long walk to the spot was deafening. Those sloaping shoulders seemed to fall further with every step. Deserved every cat-call though for rubbishing the town in the press before the game.

sorry that was in match of the day when you can see my dad. instead of the end credits where they normally show the goals that week they decided to just show my dad (and my left hand)
