In our Changemakers series, we meet designer and activist Aurora James, who started the 15 Percent Pledge, an initiative that calls on large retailers to allocate at least 15 percent of shelf space to products from Black-owned businesses. More than 20 major retailers like Sephora, Macy’s and Crate and Barrel have already taken the pledge. NBC's Blayne Alexander reports for Weekend TODAY.» Subscribe to TODAY: on.today.com/Su...

i dont want to sound mean but her designs look like they were created by a white soccer mom, 5 years ago. I'm ALL for small buisinesses getting a platform but if you want to stand out you have to match the industry standards and her designs just look outdated and cheap to me.

Discriminating on businesses based on the owner's race? Sounds pretty racist to me!!

What about the rest of the businesses? If you help one group, you are keeping others down. This is why racism and prejudice continues to thrive. And your ignorance justifies it. Good job, Today.

Get over yourself and your fragility, the black experience is very different in the United States, the build the country and when they wanted to do for themselves the government and other groups worked to put them down. If you read history, the system was rigged to keep Black Americans from thriving. Research Black Wall Street and that will give a 101 history of how difficult black people had it in USA.

Her designs are outdated I really hate to say it but they are. Not speaking on the policy or the person behind them but if she wants to stick around she needs to do better. Ultimately she won’t stick around in the design world w that kind of work they’ll be someone right behind her waiting.
