It's a passive investment (meaning, not managed by a money manager) and I immediately get skeptical to anyone who tells me they can consistently beat these returns. You spent your whole life growing your nest egg. The closer you get to retirement, the more conservative and careful you're supposed to be with your investing, because you have less time to recover if you make a mistake and lose your money. 4% of 2.5 million is $100K. With a paid off mortgage, you can live pretty much anywhere in the US on $100K. Why would you risk that great deal on some shady investment you know nothing about?

here is a thought and the ultimate question to help the victims... what if the fbi can track down where the $ was deposit to and the fbi found out who owns the account, then can the victims get their $ back?

The FBI should be able to track down the crypto and the cons. Must be done.
