i clicked on the video and thought "what a beautiful reference photo", then then the reference photo blinked and i shat myself. i can't even go a few seconds without moving even if it's important and she isn't moving at all. impressive. impressive and beautiful!
I would love to draw or paint this model. What caught my eyes when I first looked at her was that melancholic look, taking me back to 19th-century England or France countryside. What makes her post so classic is that slight tilt of her head to her right. This tilt should be indicated at the block-in stage, that is, the first 25 minutes of the sitting. It would be a much better drawing if the demonstrator recorded that tilt, or even better, exaggerated that tilt.
My thoughts exactly kelvin pak. Not only does the demonstrator not record the beautiful tilt, but I think he also reduces the interesting melancholy in her gaze. It is still excellent and he probably decided to make these adjustments for his own reasons.
As this is part one, there is scope for changes/ corrections. Also, I’m no expert, but surely what we see of the model via the camera is not exactly what the artist is seeing, it must be recording over his left shoulder so be at a slightly different angle. Be interesting to see parts 2 and 3.
If you have the opportunity to, it is always better to draw from life. It is both easier and better for the piece itself to work off of a 3D form in the actual setting then working off a 2D picture and trying to translate that to 3D.
Thanks for sharing the tutorials here for FREE. Paid tutorials also contains the same methods and steps. So, people those who purchased from your website were ...
Nice tutorial! I can draw like that, but with gridline. Loose drawings are hard for me. I see during old times, they would put a frame in front of the lady with superfine wires creating gridlines. So it would making it easier to estimate the accuracy of the actual nose length, neck etc.
a pesar que el maestro Nguyen es un capo con el retrato en vivo, noto que falla algunas veces con el tema de las cejas. Aquí la altura de las cejas con los es mas ancha en el modelo en vivo a comparación del dibujo.

This is interesting to me because if you think about it this was how the greatest artists of all time would paint. Many people from the renaissance had no phone or photography they just had models for reference. I think this truly says your a professional if you can use an actual person rather than a picture
@@ashleyd.9887 don't get me wrong it's not bad to work from photo reference but a lot of people use it as a crutch or will choose to only work from photos and their work will suffer for it
😍 i have a flashback from your masterclass from last september at Brugge. Thanks for this video! 👌🏽 I am going to start trying again what you learnt us! 😘
poor woman. If one wants to catch the natural character of a person, it's the first thing to do after catching the shapes - give all your attention and efforts to reveal the air of the moment and what attracts you as an artist in the model. Or all the thing will look unnatural or shallow.
Can't he just take a photo? Such high level drawing take a very long time and she will just sit still? Respect for your skill man but I don't get why you don't just take the picture
Paul C seeing it in a life size is much better, plus real life is 3d, so he’s be able to actually make it look even better. Oh and you can’t see little details that will make the picture pop out even more from a screen that gets blurry if you try to zoom in.
