What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go ary. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.
What Would You Do? (WWYD) is a hidden camera show, hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quinones, in which unknowing bystanders are placed in uncomfortable, and often compromising real world scenarios in public. WWYD’s hidden cameras focus on the average person’s responses and reactions to these issues of social responsibility. Topics such as gay couples being affectionate in public, date rape, racism and racial profiling, interracial couples, abusive parents, drunk driving, and harassment of the homeless are touched upon in this series. What will you do? Would you choose to intervene in these situations? Watch and join the discussion.

@@carultch What point in their 40's? Approx. 40% of women between the ages of 40-45 will have fertility struggles. But that means 60% won't have any problem having kids. My aunt had her last baby 43 years old in the 2000's. My grandmother had her last baby at 46 years old in the 1970's. Neither of them were actively trying for a baby. A bigger issue is that so many doctors perform hysterectomy's as soon as a woman has any issues. I don't see them doing penectomy and orchidectomy on men when they have issues but hysterectomy's are the most common surgery women have. When men have issues with their penis or testicles doctors investigate and try to resolve. When women have issues with the uterus, ovaries or fallopian tubes, doctors decide it's easier to just remove the whole kit and caboodle.

The man at the end of the video was dumb asf 😑. He said “ if you want a baby, just have one” if her husband doesn’t agree , that marriage isn’t going to last long . A marriage is about compromising, you can’t have everything you want . He’s telling her to use someone else’s sperm, that so disrespectful, would even be his child, that would cause even more tension. I don’t think he was giving her good advice other than adopting , but he should have told her since your married you can’t make life changing decisions like that on your own.

100% agree with this. Also my thought is simply always: if there are people who want to be parents and are passionate about that and not just going through the motions of a conventional life, if they really want a child that bad that they'll have one even when they're a bit older or have been trying for years, then that's always gonna be better than kids who have parents who mistreat them. Just having a parent who loves you and cares for you is the most important thing.

The risk of pregnancy complications and the risk of the child having genetic defects increases as the mother's age increases (in the second case, also father's age). Sure, you can have a baby at age 48, but you have to be aware of all those serious health consequences for you and your child. It's not as simple as 'I want to have a baby so I am going to have a baby', you have to think this through. You'll already be 70 when your child will be 20, just starting his/her life as an adult; you may be gone before the child is able to stand on his/her own two feet, so you also need to think about the child's support network. If your family and friends don't support your decision of having a child at this age, he/she probably won't receive much support from them in the future. Also, the child will probably have to deal with death of both parents early in his/her life. The husband's right - financial aspect has to be discussed, if you don't have much savings, you might be struggling with providing for the child after you retire. Also, the child might need to start providing for you early in his/her life if your pension is low. If you want to have a baby and your husband doesn't think it's a good idea, you have to talk about it more, you cannot just stay in the mindset 'I'll do whatever I want'. If he doesn't like the idea, that means he won't support you if you really decide to have a baby, that means you'll probably separate with your husband and become a single mother.

Idk I see both sides of the argument. You should never discourage a person trying to have a baby as children are a gift and it’s very exciting starting a family but the other woman has a point. The risks of having a child with Down syndrome are 10 times higher when the mother is over the age of 35. Health risks aside usually when a mother is 45+ and has a baby children are usually left to care for their elderly parent when they’re in their teens. This is JUST MY OPINION don’t get fired up. If you want to have a baby at 50 you do you sis

What Not To Do At a Stoplight. it's fact. There are women who have had babies past there forties with no health implications. Illogical is forgetting that women in some cases have and will continue to give birth in bad conditions with no medical aid as well as well be over age in some cases. Have you also forgot that before all the tech we have and medical assistance that as a race we have survived without. Or the human race would not have survived this long. In other words women are stronger than you can fathom.
@eddiebrock118
@eddiebrock118 6 лет назад
What Not To Do At a Stoplight. There is no argument. Because my comment is no messing. And if you're struggling to understand the last part of my last comment it's because you didn't factor it into this topic at all. People like yourself say age or medical implications are a reality. I never said they wasn't just that they in the scheme of having a child don't come into it unless you actually have problems conceiving. In other words you don't ask the doctor can you have a baby? No you just do the act. You are not going to check your health unless you have had issues in the past. Nvm age. So as I said women are stronger than you can fathom. Popping out kids since the dawn of our race with no medical aid. What was that? Lived til thirty you say yes great stuff still popped out them kids. The edwardian, the victorian even back in the times of vikings and cathergians(misspelled) women stilled popped em out, no medical aid and still reaching past forty again in some cases. What's not to accept????? What more can you add? Because everything I've said is out there and researchable. Only true thing that's a factor if woman has had no problems as such medically is the menopause. That's it. It's illogical to think a woman must follow medical science when we have done without it before and some do as I stated earlier. All that matters when having a child at any age appropriate that both parents handle the responsibility of raising the child. So again what's your problem??? Seriously. How many women miss smears?? How many continue to have children? How many people actually go regular to get sti checked? Are they all going to practice any medical check up or procedures before trying for conception? Because a lot of women don't because it's not really necessary unless they actually feel it is of concern or a bad medical history. What are you advocating that all women should be checked medically because thats never going to work. It's there body and there choice. And no man can tell a woman what to do with there body. Established since how long.

i'm gonna be completely honest here. people age exponentially, exponential decay. when you have a baby at 50, and your child graduates 18 years later, you're 70 years old. 70. Seven-zero. At 50 years old, most women are going to hit menopause soon. and think about it logically. your child just graduated and let's say they get through 4-6 years of college, maybe 1-2 years for another degree or whatever. when they're getting married around 26-30 years of age, you're 80 years old. you've most likely retired about a decade ago. you may not even make it to your child's wedding. you may die before then. they're trying to start a family but instead they have to worry about you as an ageing parent because you may be unable to take care of yourself, and you become their priority. I'm not saying to have kids at age 20. but the point of having a child at a younger age (25-35) is because you are able to care for them before they are off and having their own familes. and don't come for me. my grandma had 5 kids and had my mom at 41.
@argentinawinthrop

I scrolled many comments before finding one like yours. Maybe people commenting are too young not to know what aging parents are like. Being totally honest too, yes 48 is too old to get pregnant. There's no denying her energy levels are not gonna be the same and the mentality: generational gap is real. My friend is adopted, mum was 50 when she was born and man oh man we've been friends since our early teens and I've seen first hand how difficult things are because the mum has always been too old to understands, too old and needing medical care etc. It's just not that easy, people really need to stop fluffing reality to "you can do anything you want".

Completely agree, you have to plan and prioritize things in your life better before some things are too late, especially when it comes to women having kids. Nooo way I would ever even think about having a child at that age, if I got over the age of 35 with no children I would just accept that and do other things in life. They should do the opposite- a friend disapproves of her friend's decision to *not* have kids. I've heard "but you'll never get the joy of raising children", "but you'll die alone" and "who will look after you when you're old" and the very infamous "you must hate children then" all too much.

my mom was 21 when she had me and my twin brother, and the day before she had us she was told she had 12 hours to live. She lived through it and I'm happy I have her, but there are going to be complications no matter how old you are. My mom was told she was going to die 3 times in the span of 3 days yet she is still here. Some people don't make it but its worth it cause they got to bring a beautiful life into the world.

If I was a friend of a woman who wants to have a baby while she's 40+ years old I'd say the same. Having a baby after a certain age increases the risks of the baby having health problems. A real best friend should tell you how it is (obviously in a nice way) to your face, not sugarcoat it. That's how you know a best friend from a fake one. And it's not just the health issues, the more you go up in age, the higher the chances of you dying and leaving a young child to fend for itself with nobody else to take care of him/her... It's not just about what "I want", it's about that child. Would the child suffer or be happy? That's what should be more important. In reality, "wanting" something doesn't equate to "must have". Sometimes you just have to make people realise the risks, but in a nice way...
@Articuno112
@Articuno112 2 года назад
I know this comment is old, but the risk for both the child and mother is probably way less tess thanks to modern health care, than if she was in her prime age without access to health care so I don't see the big deal. There are sooo many parents in this world that mistreat their children due to being unmotivated, narcissistic, sick, alcoholics etc being a few years older is the least problem..
@DonC1211
@DonC1211 6 лет назад
Not a big problem to me. If you have the money, and are willing to work hard as a parent do it. My mom was near forty when she had me and my dad was in his forties already. They didn’t care about their age. All they cared about was that they had me and made sure I am loved.

I would prefer having a child later in life being stable, and having good economy than jumping into something bc of my age? Its also better for the child if you have a good ground. Not saying that you can't have that when being young tho.

when ur young its easier cuz he have more energy and you'll get to have grand kids if you have a baby later you may never be a grand parent.
@hope.0oo
@hope.0oo 4 года назад
Shady Boy I don’t think any of that matters though. An older parent could do everything a younger parent can. Also, lots of grandparents babysit or care for their grandchildren, and they are perfectly fine. Also, being a grandparent doesn’t matter??? A young parent may also never become a grandparent if their kid decides to not have any kids.

I liked and agreed with this in the “friend” situation, if she wants a baby even at that age her friend could at least try to understand, be there for her etc In the “husband” situation however I completely disagree, especially that girl’s comment “if you want it just do it” or that guy “if you wanna have a baby then have a baby” like wtf?? No? He has to agree too, being her HUSBAND in this scenario! Or they could break up of course but don’t just say “have a baby just do it if u want” assuming he has no say in this I get this episode’s idea was the age of having kids, but it was executed good only in the “friend” scenario Sorry if my english was bad

My mom had me at 40. She met my dad at AA and My parents were sober for three years until she had me. They have stayed sober since and now I’m 25. I was her miracle child, and she still hasn’t told me the full story on why she never tried to have more kids. She beats around the bush a lot so I assume it’s infertility. but watching this video motivates me to be a bigger advocate for adoptive children My mom has told me that having children at an older age stunts your ability to have children. But it’s never 100% infertility!! Women’s bodies are meant to get pregnant.

He was still young and monday would have been his 73rd bday and 20 year anniversary to my mother.

The potential for birth defects when giving birth at that age is ENORMOUS!! At that age you either just shouldn't have kids or you should choose to adopt. Just because some women can be 50 and have a newborn doesn't mean every woman should. It's too high risk for the baby.
@swankoceanman
@swankoceanman 3 года назад
@Sadia Sharmeen Exactly, I agree with you 100%. My mom had me when she was 33, so she's 50 now. (I'm 18) I feel like that was the cut off age for her to have kids tbh. She had her first kid at 17, so my siblings and I are really far apart, lol. (My siblings are 32 and 30 I think) No one should be having kids naturally in their 40's.
