Is just not right to bring any animal to a grocery shop ( unless is a medical necessity) people need to stop. I'm glad that Publix finally did something about it
Glad Publix is doing this. It's disgusting to have the pets near the foods. Allergies are dangerous. I should not go to publix on fridays because of the shellfish.
I live walking distance from a Publix. I have a dog and I’ve never thought about taking my dog into a store with food and people. I’m an actual human being and behave like one.
Thumbs down to you. Some of us actually LOVE OUR DOGS and take them everywhere . Its not about health or germs, my dog is cleaner then most children . if u want to stop germs maybe u shouldn't allow children !! . Youre kind of a rude " actual" human in that u think u should tell others what to do... Booooo to you
its called entitlements. People tend to be selfish in nature and as the saying goes, you give an inch, people will take a mile. 99 percent of the people taking dogs into publix are doing it because they want to and not for any medical reasons ... People love to force their nasty disgusting lifestyle on others... I sold life insurance for 10 years and most homes I have been to that has pets tend to be filthy and disgusting with dog hair all over the place and dog ish the same... and dont mention the smell..
100% pets should not be in grocery stores with their poopy butts sitting in the baskets or carts!!! Thank you for sticking to the law in Florida Publix!!!
I’m so happy to hear this! It’s always gross to me. I was told it’s actually an FDA violation to have pets in the store, but I’m not sure. Makes sense tho. So unsanitary.
The FDA doesn't outright ban pets from stores and the only section that speaks about domesticated animals applies mainly to meat packing plants, restaurants, and delis because these areas have exposed food and only requires a partition be put up to keep domesticated animals out of those areas. Publix already partitions off the deli and bakery so unless they have an indoor restaurant attached within the Publix the FDA doesn't apply. Fresh produce doesn't qualify as exposed food because you are suppose to wash produce anyways before consuming it.
@Humbirdhippo5475 I assume they have bars separating the eating area from normal customer traffic. That qualifies as partition. I don't think the FDA would consider this an exposed food area because the food is being consumed at that time. At most it may only qualify as part of a restaurant and would only close that area off to pets not necessarily the entire store.
People that has issues with their dogs, think twice: you have the option the do food chopping by order and pick their groceries at the Publix pickup area. Take care of public health food contamination is priority. Thank you Publix for not allowed dogs in the store, Thank you Publix for prioritized Safety Protection of Public Health .

@@gustav24-7-52 Big difference. Guide dogs are for the blind and general population don't need dogs. They are mentally unstable weirdos who are wanting to carry their dogs around, like it's a pet rock or something. If you can't see the difference between the two situations, you are the problem.
I shop at the local Publix every Wednesday. I've seen a dog in there once, however, he had his service vest on, and he was very calm and polite. As much as I love animals, they don't belong in the grocery store, leave them at home, they'll miss you, but they'll be fine.
@eboston7591 No, and they shouldn't be. If you need a service animal, of any species,, by all means, bring it to the store. I saw a video once where a woman had a service dog, he sensed she was going to have a seizure, and made her sit down on the floor. If I had been there I would have alerted the store employees, just in case she needed EMS, but I would have left them alone. But if it's not a certified service animal, it should stay home.
I worked for Publix 18 years in Alabama. Trained service dogs are allowed. They must be wearing their "do not pet, I am working" vests, be a non reactive service dog breed heeling beside their owner, no exceptions. Pets, emotional support animals are not allowed because this has been abused. We have had to clean up after these emotional support animals and pets too often and had them snap or bite another customer, owners have fed them food samples, soup, opened unpaid for items and fed themselves as well without paying for the item, just leave it on a shelf. This got way out of hand, now, for protection of other customers health and safety, only trained service dog breeds with vests that are non reactive allowed. Also, all items must be paid for before consuming or that is considered shoplifting and comes with accountability for those actions as this is law. Also, Publix delivers as well as Instacart and Shipt.
I don't like seeing"pets" in stores, they are not properly trained 😱 A real service dog is trained to perform a service for the owner not just to comfort them🤦
ppl have gotten into the habit of talking their pets to the mall, grocery stores, state parks, ANY park that is NOT a dog park, the BEACH ITS really gotten out of hand!

I once saw a big dog stick its snout on the refrigerated veggies area. Truly disgusting. A lot of people have lost common sense and respect towards others in society. I've had dogs all my life, and never would I bring them in to a store, restaurant or other areas.
I'm sure a lot of service dog vests will be sold on the internet to try to entitle your way through Publix stores... People bring their dogs right up to the Publix deli and meat section some people have no conscience
I suffer panic attacks along with agoraphobia. I have never taken any of my Chihuahuas into Publix or any other grocery store! Even my psychiatrist would not allow me to bring my well behaved, 6 pound chihuahua, who sits completely still on my lap, on my visits. He is of great comfort to me, helps me when I feel an attack coming by letting me hold him against my chest. The pressure of his body against me and his body heat feel soothing and helps me to redirect my focus. My other Chihuahuas can’t sit still for sh*t. Pets, emotional support pets, should *not* be allowed in most places, esp grocery stores. Too may people are pretending their pets are absolutely necessary for emotionally support for every minute of the day and expect everyone else to suck it up. Nope.
Ive worked for grocery stores You had some people who had small dogs in a pet carry bag. Or their own pet stroller. Then there were people who put them down on tables of food, on the conveyor belt, or the baging food area. Many not trained animals that snapped at others or peed.
Even the gym I go to sounds like a kennel with dogs barking. I am glad Publix is standing with the law. I work with the blind and service dogs. The service dogs are highly trained, pet dogs are not. Pets in stores are giving needed service dogs a bad reputation
from the ADA website faq: “There are individuals and organizations that sell service animal certification or registration documents online. These documents do not convey any rights under the ADA and the Department of Justice does not recognize them as proof that the dog is a service animal.” 0:41
Wow, i thought i was in the minority on this topic but I'm glad to see how wrong I was. I hate when people bring their non-service animals in stores! I've had to personally guard and clean up puddles of piss and poop so customers don't slip and fall and it's gross af.
All I have to say is I'm impressed that she can read and speak English. It is gross to have animals around food, including restaurants, unless absolutely necessary for the disabled shopper. I think Publix finally took action after a picture of a Yorkie was pooping while standing in a grocery cart, as his owner paid. This was passed around social media (Twitter and Only in Dade) Almost everyone tagged Publix. 😂
Oh nooo she has to do 2 things, poor thing. Walk dog and then go to store… I feel so bad for her. She wouldn’t want to push on the app and have it delivered because we do live in 2023.
Way to go, Publix I m sick of seeing this in my store !! It is never service animal's with people ! I hope more stores follow this rule !! About time !!!
So what if she doesn’t shop at Publix’s anymore! She’ll be alright! People just feel so privileged nowadays and don’t want to be told not to do anything they want to do! Their store! Their rules!
I love taking my dog to stores, we live in a beautiful downtown area, however , never ever in grocery stores. Something about dogs in grocery store, doesn't sit right with me.I think it's disrespectful.
Just make sure to leave your dog at home, and NOT IN A HOT CAR!! The reason a lot of people take their pets into stores is because they're traveling, and don't wanna leave them in a hot RV while they're in the store. Due to the heat, Florida has been a pet friendly state, but too many people have abused it.
I'm torn because on one hand I hate Publix with a passion but on the other hand, refusing to shop somewhere because they ask you not to bring animals in is ridiculous. The uproar over such a simple request could only happen in a state like Florida. My prediction is that this woman will be back at Publix within 1-3 months, one look at her and you can tell that she's the type of person who reviles at the thought of shopping at Walmart or Aldi, if there's even one nearby since Publix has been allowed to grow into a near monopoly in a lot of towns and cities.
Unless you are legally disabled and have a license to have a service dog (not emotional) STOP taking your pets in grocery stores. I've seen people step on them by accident, run over with carts, because owners decide that the rules don't apply to them and their pets pay the consequences.
What license are you referring to? This is, in part, why it is so easy for anyone to procure fake "emotional support" animals or even service animal patches and vests. There is no licensing agency for service animals or their owners. And the ADA prohibits anyone from asking a person to show documentation of an animal's "credentials" or the nature of a person's alleged/actual disability.
When did it all of a sudden be okay to bring a pet anywhere I've seen them in restaurants to it's not necessary if we all need that much freaking emotional support then we should just stay home we all managed all these years without bringing a phyto to freaking Flanigan's so just come on it's a grocery store. I'm highly allergic to cats and dogs and so are other people people are afraid of pets I don't want the dog hair in my car I don't want to hear it barking and it's nothing personal but you know people don't like screaming babies on airplanes will how do you think we feel about your dog. Some people have fear of dogs and I don't want to step in your pee or your poop I've watched people in the mall that their dog pee and keep walking. So some persons going to walk behind them and slipping it fall hit their head whatever it's disgusting. It's basically for attention so people can stop you and go hao-q blah blah blah if not a newborn baby it's a pet. We were at the mall and someone had a monkey in a backpack someone else had a bird on her shoulder a couple of months ago not necessary people. If it's a service dog of course 1000%. But just really this has gotten out of hand.. okay I'm done😅
what gets me that people that actually uses a service animal makes it hard for them because of all the other people using there pets has support animals thinks they have rights to take there animals into stores. even though a support animal are not a service animal because they don't have to be trained to assist a person that has a disability.
As a retail worker of 25 plus years now and a dog parent, I would never take my dog into a grocery store because too many of the people in there shopping are absolutely disgusting....and my dog shouldn't be subjected to those levels of filth. People have allergies to all sorts of things like cheap perfume, cigarette smoke, wool, or stupidity. Inside a store there is no way to stay away from any of those things if they are present.
I worked in a fashion show and the the coordinators son has an ES dog . We tried ro explain to her even the service animal has to stay with and by her kid not roam backstage. Well it finally hit the fan this year, a model was deathly allergic encountered the dog and not only had a bad allergic reaction it was escalated by a panic attack. SHE had to be rushed out. Nevertheless that model is suing and im glad. GIVE PEOPLE THE SAME RESPECT YOU WANT
Yes, i do like this. I think its rude to bring your dog in the store, because of health reasons. Most people bring they dirty dogs to the store because they don't care about other people health.. they have so much options to get groceries. So please keep your do at home if it's not a service dog or just order at home.. no employees what to clean your dog mess.. same thing with restaurants smh I almost got bite at work from a dog just because of kids not holding their dog right.smh I wanted to sue them and the company not in forcing dog rules..
And the service dog registrations are scams! You aren't required to show proof that your dog is a service dog! Only 2 questions can be asked! Is this a service animal? And what tasks is the animal trained to perform?
I'm not going to stop shopping at Publix just because they aren't going to allow my dog in. Chances are many Publix will still allow pets in regardless of the policy. I have 4 in my area. I only ever shopped at 2 of them, and I know one of them doesn't care while the other one that is closing in a few months does. I'd much rather be a the type person who takes my dog to the store with me so he doesn't scratch up my door or chew my shoes and leave only if asked then to be an Uber Karen that screams at store employees to get a manager and then when the manager tells you they will NOT ban pets have a big old temper tantrum about it. I can already see all the entitled Karen's responses trying to cite the ADA, FDA, or any other obscure law they can come up with saying pets aren't allowed in stores but never actually read the law to know that's not the case.
Do not try to pet service animals are distract them from their job. Since in resent years you can do your shopping on line most people who use service animals take advantage of it. My daughter does she is blind, with limited vision. Still uses him when walking far her health. He is protective of her, does not want people trying to touch her or in their space.
The ones complaining are from foreign countries that don’t have laws. Your dog doesn’t belong in the grocery store. Love my dog, would love to take him with me, but he doesn’t belong around food markets.
I'm allergic and I've been bitten by dog(s) .... I really don't want to see a dog when I go shopping. If someone needs a "support dog" they can go elsewhere or have someone shop for them. Honestly I think the entire support dog theory is bull.
$99 can get you an ESA certification. More of a scam than anything. You’re paying $99 to have a document with your name and dog’s name saying it’s an ESA. Anyone can do it. That’s what the guy with the Yorkie has.
Dogs belong at home when customers shop.dogs would be more comfortable at home.people do not need to bring their dogs.ive seen dogs not well groomed. We do not need this in any grocery stores. People do have allergies to pet hair and you should all consider your other shoppers not just yourself. Your dog will be fine at home. I have a dog and would never think of taking him or her shopping. Please be kind to other shoppers. Don't think of yourself only.
Just wait till one of the dogs have a bad day and bites someone ,never know what might trigger a dog.Leave them at home .I aways bring mine a treat back,he loves me the same.
Who cares its a grocery store not a pet store.I don't want my food in a cart where a dog cat or what ever has been leaving all kind of what ever the animal has on it or cares to leave in the cart. Its about time publix put there foot down on this issue. Way to go publix
Dogs don't bother me in the grocery store, as long as they're well-behaved and small. Nobody wants a dog sniffing the lower shelves and getting his saliva and drool all over their food
When were pets ever allowed at publix? These people are stupid! Ive been a pet owner and can remember years ago before “service animals” were so prevalent and remember being told I couldn’t bring my toy poodle in. These pet owners today not only abuse pets and over expose them in public, but what happens when that pet attacks another shopper or imagine a dog fight. There are plenty farmers markets they can go to. Who cares if these people boycott publix, thats the point! So the rest of use can shop in a clean fresh store without one extra contaminant to be concerned about.
Ok go to another grocery. I work in Publix I swear to God there was this dog the took a dump right next to the dairy. A manger had to clean that up, That disgusting.
Hoping other stores follow suit! Leave your animals at home. Why drag the dogs through the store. Home Depot, coffee shops, everyone is terrified to ask or you end up with KARENS having a tantrum. Gotta be politically correct ALL THE TIME, it throws common sense out the window! 99% of the time they’re just pets. Not service animals.
