Man, squirrels are adorable, but he's _extra_ adorable.

Oh wow, that squirrel's gorgeous. I've never seen a white squirrel before.

I’m so worried that his color is going to make him easily spotted by predators. I hope the little guy is OK 🐿

I’ve been a small animal vet for over 26 years and this is just amazing! I never would have predicted his recovery, much less ability to return to the wild! This woman is an angel and the world is better because of every wildlife rehabilitator❤️❤️❤️

Saving White Squirrel: The Dodo Wild Hearts tale. So glad Jane did not give up on him and this story had a happy ending.

I rehabbed a squirrel from 5 weeks old. I bottle fed her until she was ready to transition to a normal squirrel diet. She did so good. She ate everything from fresh veggies to grass to berries and any but you can imagine. My husband and I were her personal trees. She climbed all over us. When she was ready were released her and continued to sublimate her with extra nuts, water and veggies for awhile. She would come out her tree and cautiously jump onto us. Then she got smart if the nuts weren’t outside early enough she would jump on our porch and knock on our glass door until we brought them out to her and she would return to her tree to eat them. One day about 3 weeks after we released her she knocked on the door and when I opened it she jumped on me and came inside. She ran straight back to the laundry room where her nest/cage was (which was still there, just in case) and she climbed right into her nest. She stayed in there and slept for hours. She peeked out when it was dinner time and I fed her. Then she curled back and slept the rest of the night in there. We tried to take her back outside but she would just return to her nest inside our house. She slept all night long! The next morning she got up and was ready to go back outside. She let her go and that was the last we seen her. We are so proud of our ChiChi. She came I suspect to say her one last goodbye before she was ready to do it alone. We still call for her once in awhile and we know she is doing it out there! We are so glad we got our one last night with our baby before she chose to live wild and free forever. Congrats on your successful rehsb and release!

The one bad/sad part of these rehabs, is when you MUST return them back where they belong. That emotional bond that's been nourished is so strong. I've rehabbed a few different species and it's gut wrenching and weeping time, yet you know it's the only thing to do. You've done a helluva job here...Bravo!

I had a dog that got out of my yard. Someone hit him with their car and took off. I was running after him and saw who did it. Anyway, he couldn’t use his back legs for 2 days. The vet was amazed that my Zeus regained the use of his legs after 2 days of me nursing him. Thank you for being so kind.

What I liked about this - in addition to all the feeding & nurturing to help him recover - was the elaborate "cage" they made for him, (could tell it was brand new), & the box that he'd made into his home within the cage that they attached to the tree when they released him. With rescuers like this, nature will thrive. PS. I love how they didn't try to humanize him. They let him be a squirrel.
