I happen to think that that alligator is tolerating being treated like that right now, but her owner needs to learn to read the cues the animal is giving her.... that animal obviously was not happy to be dressed at one point.. and not listening to her cues is a recipe for disaster

I think Angela is super cool for loving her alligator and she's doing everything we want...bringing positivity to the news stories about our beloved reptiles! :) I think Lily Gator is ADORABLE and AWESOME at the same time. I LOVE the message she's spreading...that reptiles are awesome and they aren't these big scary unfeeling monsters as the news regularly likes to portray. So, heck yeah! I'm team Lily Gator all the way!!!!!

I can tell my bearded dragon is dreaming because I will see him trying to run while he is asleep. Just like dogs do when they are dreaming. Not sure what they are dreaming of but definitely always thought reptiles dream.

I think bearded dragons do dream because 2 nights ago I heard weird noises coming from my lizards tank and he was bobbing his head up and down and when I took a closer look HE WAS SLEEPING! It was so cute 🥰

I think the Gater was not too happy about the clothes, thrashing like it was. It's going to be a recipe for disaster I fear. The woman didn't back down, but forced her will on the Gator. You just can't do that without consequences. The sleep cycle study is extremely exciting to learn about. The REM cycle is important! And yes, I truly believe that the animals dream. I know my dogs dream.

Yes. My dog definitely dreams, too. He'll "talk" in his sleep and have muscle movements like he's running. 😂 it's actually hilarious.

@@carolhuffman7708 yep, that's what our heeler & jack russell do. Thor(the jack) especially makes a lot of noise when he's dreaming & Anubis(the heeler) will jerk & kick his feet dreaming. It's interesting to see.

The lady that dresses her alligator up in clothes is a double edge sword. One the one side the gator is well cared for. The clothes diffinently bring attention and interest to gators. Lets face it. The gator is pretty dare cute. On the other side there are people that I don't understand way will think they can go out grab a gator and dress it up. As we know there will be injuries. Hopefully this will not happen. As we both know there are a lot of people with more than on screw lose. Maybe I should go out on the back of my place find a copperhead and dress it up. Now that would be cute. Do you think I'd get bit??? Lol. Have a great day.

Dude is that Josh Gates on your wall? I love all his shows! Great vlog man. That lady with the gator makes me nervous, I have seen the awesome bond people have with their reptiles but as the gator grows even non aggressive protests to the clothing or nail polish could be dangerous. I think it’s awesome that she gives it so much attention but I also think time spent touch training or encouraging mental and physical stimulation is important much like how you train RJ and allow him to act like a natural alligator with a beautiful pond and basking space.

I dont agree with the way this alligator is being treated its borderline abuse in my opinion it's great that she has a bond but forcing something un natural is wrong and look at how she manipulates that poor alligator trying to put clothes on it my opinion with clothing and animals is you dont dress them up unless they medically need it

Agreed, they can adapt to us to a certain point as long as their basic needs are met but this much fussing on the alligator is likely pretty stressful to it. Like a dog being jumped on by a toddler daily eventually it's going to school the kid like it's kind schools puppies. Same with this alligator eventually it's going to have a bad day and it's going to go very badly for her but also the alligator. Then people are going to be trying to ban them everyone stating they are vicious. Also bad publicity even now showing it's not vicious because other ridiculous people who aren't willing to meet the alligators needs are going to get them and treat them like toys and there will be enough "attacks" (self defense) that they will ban them in even more places and the good responsible owners will be penalized for what stupid people have done. Same with breed restriction laws for dogs.

I believe the alligator is doing awesome... She takes really good care of her, If that animal was going through any type of stress, she would probably be missing a finger or hand... A lot of times people who make stupid comments don't really know much what they are talking about... It's not us who stresses out the animal, It's THEM who is stressing US, by saying we are stressing out the animal...❤😏😉😎 I personally have learned a lot, by observing the different personalities of each individual animal I have in my collection...❤🐍❤🐍❤🐍❤🐍✌🏼

Hey Brian! LOVE your VLOGS! Thanks for ALL that you, Lori, Noah, and your crew do for the Reptile World! Now, about Lilly Gator, I agree that she seems to be well taken care of. She looks healthy, well fed, clean, etcetera. But I have to wonder what will happen when this gator is pushing 7 feet or better, weighing a lot more than she is now, and really won't be able to be a "lap gator." I wonder if she's actually allowed to just "be a gator" or if Angela is discouraging what would be her natural behavior and instincts. Unfortunately there's probably going to come a time when Lilly doesn't want to be her "living gator doll" and some type of rescue will end up having to take her for safety reasons. I'm sorry but any animals natural instincts CANNOT be untrained!!! Hope I'm wrong and neither Lilly Gator or Angela end up hurt in one way or another! Hope you have an Awesome Day!

I think the dressing the pet alligator is an extension of the whole "dressing my pet in silly clothing as it looks cute" fad... just think of all those "snakes in hats" images etc... but like others have said it needs to be both ways. She needs to acknowledge when her pet [read: baby] doesn't want to be dressed up.

I think because the Alligator has been taken care of this way since she was 2 weeks old means that she is use to it so I don't think it stresses her out at all and she might enjoy it the relationship she has. Now if you tried to dress up let's say Rj who has never experienced that it would most definitely stress him out.

Good morning brain (: I seen that story about the lady dressing the alligator before and like you said it's hard to judge weather you agree with it or disagree cause we aren't there to see how the animal reacts to it. But if the animal doesn't mind it and it's not stressing it out at all then I don't see the problem with it even though it's crazy lol. But if it is stressing it out then she should definitely stop dressing it up.

I see both sides too however I gotta be honest it's far too far, and it's wrong to treat dogs and cats like that too. Our pets are our adopted babies but it's always important to remember these adopted babies have their own specific needs they will tolerate some of our behaviors of course but they must have their basic needs met and like people everyone needs some down time. I tell my daughter never mess with any animal when they are eating, sleeping, or going to the bathroom. Everyone needs personal space sometimes. I would guess that there is some stress in there. Also I would say it's more bad publicity than good because it encourages others with also no business raising reptiles (or any animal for that matter based on the sole fact that they refuse to understand that it has it's own specific needs and it will cause problems and when the animal finally snaps people will then blame the species. Look at bigger dog breeds). I know that sounds harsh but some people truly 100% have no business raising any animal some people truly have no business raising kids even. Having the right to do something and should be doing something are two very different things lol. Dogs for example have to have pack order, when so and so decides not to meet the dogs needs and replace them with what they think they should need instead and the dog snaps on them or someone else everyone blames the dog. Not just the dog, the breed. Not if it's a little dog because even if the little dog is vicious and needs to be put down because it is so far beyond repair people think it's funny because it's so small. When it's a big dog then people want to ban them. So with that same understanding of common pets and how many people do not understand them I can apply the same logic to reptiles. I can also apply the same logic to kids, kids need a pack order too lol. That minimum requirement is often not met in social animals or children and you end up with these vicious animals and kids running around that really didn't have to be vicious, they simply have instincts with no understanding of what and when they are for and a life that isn't having their basic needs met and they just don't know how to handle it or in the case with animals they handle it with their teeth. I love watching your videos because you show these animals as not being vicious just being animals living their lives interacting with people while getting their needs met. This lady with the pet alligator is a tragedy waiting to happen. Right now the alligator knows it's being fed, at some point it will get big enough and old enough to hit puberty and alligators only watch their children for a few years. Maybe it's already passed this age however I will also add it's still able to see she's bigger than it. One day this will not be the case and when this animal decides I am done with this nonsense it's gonna tell her with it's teeth because that's the only way it can communicate it. Struggling not to have it put on is lost on her so eventually it will be the teeth. When that happens and its in the news people are then gonna be saying she's an idiot on some level but ultimately it will be the consensus that the animal is a vicious animal by nature. Truth is it's just living it's life and when it finally communicates with it's teeth due to her errors it's gonna go back to bad publicity. Like I said though even though it's tolerating her behavior it's still bad publicity because it encourages more people just like her to do the very same thing and then there will be so many attacks and then they will be illegal to own in more places. I really don't want one, I have held one, they are awesome and interesting creatures but I live in Maine. It's easier to set up for a Ball Python here than it is for an alligator that's gonna get huge some day lol. I still think that good responsible people shouldn't be punished or banned from things because of irresponsible and stupid people. I am not for babysitting grown people from making personal choices in general lol. So I see this blowing up on the community of reptile lovers. Harsh but true. For example our ball python no clue how or why (Max isn't the first I have owned and she acts the same way as Kokoro did back when I had her when I was younger, also I say her but could be a him lol never got them checked) but both ball pythons I have owned seem to be super inquisitive. Max tends to want to climb up on things more than Kokoro did. Both if they notice me were at the door to the cage to be let out. Temperatures are within range, humidity, they have items in to keep them mentally stimulated which are switched up every couple of months or so. When we picked Max she was the more active of the two ball pythons at the store. I handle Max every day when she shows she wants to come out. She explores the whole sofa and me and then I usually end up putting her away before she's decided she's done. Her "cage/setup/enclosure is an altered display case without the shelves, it was an awesome find and keeps the heat and humidity pretty well. She has a heat mat and a lamp just being it's cold even in our house with the heat on so I like to have them both to keep the ambient temperature where it should be. My snake gets snuggles and kisses which by all means isn't the natural life of a snake even chin rubs which she seems to respond well to. However her basic needs are met. She still has plenty of alone time and it's when she gets to that double door space and starts pushing on it and climbing up the line of the two doors meeting and dropping (it definitely appears she's trying to get my attention if I don't get her with the more subtle clues) from straight up to the top.. She's an oddball. So was Kokoro. Honestly back when I had Kokoro I was young and stupid about snakes, she tended to travel with me a lot and hated her enclosure. Didn't matter the temperature although she only had a basking light. The temperatures were about the same but I lived in a warmer climate. I socialized her too she didn't fear bite anyone because people weren't scary to her (in that retrospect that is like a puppy, socialized animals with good human interactions tend to have no reason to bite out of fear but that can be applied to pretty much any animal, even people lol). We took her with us to a family reunion (unbeknownst to me it was my now ex husbands idea.... which I found out about when we were all looking for Kokoro all around the state park). We ended up finding her in the backpack he brought her in.... again grrr. I was dumb about snakes to a degree but then there was the whole other level which was him, I wouldn't have risked taking her to "the wild" lol. Essentially she went from the bigger pocket and pushed her way into the smaller pocket. She could have escaped into the wild, it was the warm time of the year she would have been fine until winter there. She just wanted a cozier space to sleep. She also had trouble eating prekilled mice. She tended to try and eat them backwards, be stubborn for half an hour and then finally give up and eat it the right way around (not like I could take it from her with her locked on it I had to wait and by the time she let go I would check and she was putting her mouth the right way around). Like people animals are individuals too lol, but species to species they still gotta have their needs met. I would say this lady fusses far too much with the Alligator and it's likely pretty stressed about it but feels it has no choice for now... Same with dogs that tolerate kids jumping on them and terrorizing them everyone has their snapping point. It's just gonna suck because people tend to blame the animal more than other people.

With how Lilly was acting in the short video you showed I would say that Lilly doesn't like to be dressed up. She shouldn't be I'm sure that clothing feels really restricting to her and I would think that would make her anxious feeling trapped. I of course could be wrong of course but still I think she shouldn't dress Lilly up from the way she acted in that short video.

I think if the animal seems streesed no but the alligator looks happy while he is doing it so it is okay

While dressing up the gator and all the fluff is definitely odd at best, the animal looked healthy and was not stressing. So unless it causes a problem with her gator then more power to her.

i mean it's not exactly good, like yeah i see your point but it will only take that alligator 1 bit to rip her hand off and then no one in America will be allowed to keep alligators (but some places will probably still allow it because America)

I think its weird. I would never do that. Only time we put a sweater on a dog is because its way to cold and the dog is short hair.

Cue music from the "Twilight Zone". That's a little much. Putting clothes on an alligator?

I think it might be bad for the future when it gets full grown. Idk why people get mad about putting clothes on dogs btw cause my dog loves getting clothes out on him like seriously when it’s cold and we pull out his little sweater he jumps around and is so excited to get his clothes on. I think people need to realize that some animals like wearing clothes. But anyways with case I think that she shouldn’t be dressing her alligator in clothes cause it doesn’t like it

I mean its cute and all but i think the dressing up, painting of nails is a bit much with the stress and fumes i guess? But brushing teeth and maybe filling her nails is more understandable :) either way the relationship is amazing

The alligator item worries me. It sounds like the lady loves her but isn’t respecting her for what she is. She’s a reptile - she doesn’t need her nails painted to be beautiful and she’s not a human baby. It feels like it’s degrading the alligator.

Can't say that I agree with the way this Alligator is being treated, yeah It's great that they have a bond and that the animal is helping to change the stereotypical view of reptiles but, painted nails and clothing? That's not something that is in the animals best interests IMHO .. 🤔🇦🇺 beautiful T+ Green and dam that's one smoking hot Boa 👍👍👍🇦🇺

Speaking of rat snakes, how could someone dress up Jewel? I know pedicures aren't an option with snakes. If that alligator was big enough, it could easily tell her if it didn't like being dressed up with a sharp bite. Take care and God loves you.

Bruh.. what if the alligator eats her one day. I kinda feel bad for the gator to be honest. Some animals dont mind it but that's a friggin alligator ! Scary

I think that you allow babying for other animals, what's the difference? It obviously calms the woman. Or does something for her, so more power to her ❤

I personally think it's a little wrong to treat a reptile like a dog. Especially an alligator.
