Chishiya decided that he would place the ball entirely in Kuzuryu's court, let him decide for himself what the value of both of their lives were. Does Kuzuryu value his life as that of a God basically, to take the life of another person when it is ultimately in his hands? Does Kuzuryu not value the life of Chishiya enough to spare Chishiya, even at the cost of his own life? Something that the show doesn't do a good job of, is delving into the psyche of some characters as much as the webtoon. Chishiya didn't care about life and death, he didn't care about whether he lived or died, he only cared about solving the puzzles. His capabilities to remain so calm in dangerous situations stems from the fact that he has no interest in the concept of life, both his own and others. To others, the Borderlands are a situation of life or death, but to him the games are just simple games. The truth is, he lacks a will to live. He doesn’t know what he’s living for, and was just interested in finally finding someone that was “interesting” in the Borderlands.

The diamonds game is more about reading your opponent. When I watched it initially I thought it was about determining odds but there are too many variables, to the point where it would just be luck. Your best bet is reading the room and trying to control the flow of the game

28:50 - A detail someone caught is that this was the same dude that Arisu saved on the bus with that game from S1 ep 4. So Arisu helping the guy ended up mattering for him to pay it forward to someone else. In this case, number 2 from the beach. And he paid it forward for Chishiya.

Shishiya called the guy out. He said he didn't want to have to decided who lives and die. Until it was only the two of them if one die it was their fault, he didn't kill them, he survived to them. Now shishiya basically said "you gonna have to choose to kill me or not".

Queen of Spade is played by the talented Chihiro Yamamoto who also played Laiha in Ultraman Geed. She is badass in Ultraman and more badass in this show

I really loved the games with Chisaya in this season 2, it had a whole different vibe than Arisu, more psychologic i think Also those discussions after the reaction are so interesting, no matter the serie, its' always a pleasure

It feels like I learned so many things listening to the three of you. and yeah I agree, Life sure is unfair and we can't really do anything about it since our society runs afloat in that unfairness. No matter how much self-righteousness you have, you can't save 'everyone' there will be a time where we will have to choose.

You can't use the excuse of "donating that money saved countless lives" because for all you know, the kid that didn't get it could have gone on to create the cure for cancer. We don't know what they could have done to save lives themselves. I guarantee you someone who has been on a donor lists is more likely to want to help others than someone who just got immediate help because of daddy's connections.

I agree with what you said. For the most part the industry makes more natural athletic ability women without effects. And they take and give damage along with take and give pain. If the get their A$$es kicked then they show the pain they took

Chishiya's part of this episode reminds me a lot of the anime Monster. The anime starts with a surgeon who is about to do surgery on a kid and then someone else who is more influential gets moved up on the priority list and the doctor is supposed to operate on him instead. This kicks lose a huge series of events and the question if all lives are equal is a central theme of it. I can also comfortably say that it's one of the best, if not the actual best anime I've ever seen

This episode was something else in terms of death, watching Tatta and Arisu take Tatta's hand didn't bother me, but this episode was gruesome as hell!! loved how the director didn't shy away from showing the gore compared to the first season

Just so you know one important thing, this king of diamond game is entirely based on luck. Even if you have a math degree, if you studied mathematics in high-school, luck is the only thing that rules this game. Whatever the number you pick and then multiply by 0.8, the number must be under 50, otherwise your chances to win at it will dwindle.

The queen of spades game was rigged for the home team to lose. Not only did they had a worse start, the team who would get the last turn would always be the one with the advantage. Psychologically, the pressure to flip sides would be apparent with the chasing team getting a little momentum.
