I've dealt with that too, being scared and all showing cashiers what I personally get, and most times it's a lady but when I do come across a guy they just continue and do their job. If she is truly concerned with the payment arrangement there is no way she would ever be able to do online shopping. Also, a lot of curbside pick-up places have cordless terminals where they can do a debit purchase anywhere within about 50' of the store. Or if all of that fails, pay with cash if allowed. She was just a silly woman, all upset because she couldn't control others to her wishes. Besides, rare is the city that doesn't have multiple places to shop for your "naughty objects".

I have several health issues and have spent a lot of time over the past 5 decades in and out of hospitals and met people with health issues far worse than mine and yet have never known anyone that was told not to wear a mask by their doctor because of their illness. Even allergies and asthma do not prevent you from wearing a mask.
