The same thing happened to me....I bought a ring once for $5 at a flea market.....something about the ring raised suspicion so I took it to be valued......it turned out the ring was actually worth $3.
Longest story short, lady bought a $13 ring and wore it for 30 years without knowing it was a real diamond ring worth $850,000 sold at an auction. Just saved you 7:38 minutes of your life!
At a yard sale, An acquaintance bought a piece of junk jewlery ,a dirty bracelet with zircons, for her granddaughter. She took it to her jeweler for cleaning. He advised her that the metal was platinum and the stones were all diamonds! She paid a quarter and it was worth at minimum 50k!
I was in bathroom listening to video while I put a new toilet paper roll before taking a shit and no kidding I placed the roll in place and pulled the first piece free and was sooo pulled in to this story that by end I had unrolled the all double sheets Scott toilet paper off the cardboard…. And I’m not full of shit
Jewelry business seems to be lucrative and productive but requires patient ,hardwork and. Adequate consistency at the beginning for it to grow, just few have this patient
My wife bought a bracelet from a garage sale for $25, she gave it to our daughter for a birthday present, our daughter had it appraised and it turns out that the bracelet was worth $12,000. It was a bracelet made in Germany in WWII that the German soldiers made for their mothers as something to remember them by due to the chance that they might not return from war and that there were only about a dozen or so of these bracelets in excistance so you never know what you will find at a flea market or garage sale
@@TypeSly I Know it's hard for some of y'all to believe crazy shit happens on a daily basis, but maybe you go to an estate sale and find a gift box buy open it up and whatever ever is in ears your ass
I buy and sell antique stuff and I believe you. people just dont realize how much money in finding rare items at a flea market and sell them. You just have to know how to identify them.
My business partner dated a girl who came from a poor background, had a massive emerald ring that she inherited from her grandmother, and she wore it for years thinking it was glass. He on the other hand had learned to identify gemstones and after taking a good look at it he told her "honey, that is a real emerald and worth upwards of $10,000."
If you invest it right or use it as capital for a buisness venture, it can make you much more then a millionaire, 850,000 Is more then enough to make you a future billonaire, it just takes Vision, research & patience, & a little effort, but 850k is a great launching pad to much much more, if you don't get impulsive & waste it. But even if you didn't invest it, 850k could last you a life time, if you are frugal & practical with it. Just don't let the money go to your head & be a fool, instead, use your head to manage the money & make it work for you, or you will be right back to square 1.... & again you will be "working for your money" - have a blessed & prosperous lifer to all who read this :-)
I remember that time my ex got me a ring worth 2k. He was abusive to me so I called it off and sold the ring worth 32 dollars. 😂🤣 but I did cherish it until he became very agressive and busted my lip locked me in a bedroom all day and put pillows over my face when I cried.
My wife had a beautiful one K diamond ring. We were fishing from a boat in a large deep lake in CA when she took it off, because It was catching on her fishing reel. She accidentally dropped it into the water! Five years later, I was cutting up a fish that I had caught in that same lake, when suddenly, my knife struck something hard. It was the bone in my thumb.
How could so many people be complaining about the length of the video. It's a story, not a synopsis. Appreciate the time and effort it took for this man to create it. If it was to the point, people would still complain about something. If you don't like the length of it fast forward to The End. ✌
I once bought a painting at a garage sale for $40.00. My family thought I was crazy, to pay that much for a garage sale item, but whatever, I wanted it and bought it. Imagine my surprise when 8 months later I had the painting appraised. It was worth $3.00. My family was right. The b*stards!!
I bought a custom emerald ring off EBay, took it to the jeweler for sizing and was told “we are scared to touch it because it’s such a flawless emerald.” It was valued at $28,000. 🤭
@Jenneth Patrick Sure' I can only tell you what I do that works for me and can also work for you but you can still go and do some research for your self..
my mother bought a silver ring for $5 at a flea market back in 1989....she only wore it couple of times cause it was fashion....she said that everyone used to ask her about her cheap ring cause it called the attention....it was tarnished...and the stone was really dark in the inside....one day a good friend of the family that happens to be a jeweler took a look and examined the ring just cause she asked him to clean....HE FOUND OUT THAT THE RING IS A REAL DIAMOND....AND ITS VALUE IS AROUND $5000...SHE CLEANED AND OF COURSE SHE STILL HAS IT.!!!!!
A friend is a “rock hound” and would pickup rocks all the time to time and shape them. One day he stopped at a garage sale and bought someone’s collection. One of the rocks intrigue him so he started shaping it. He suddenly stopped because he realized he was way out of his league with the value of the rock. It turns out to be a very large very perfect emerald that he sold to a private party for 2.6 million. Why can’t I have that kind of luck?
I also got a silver ring at a garage sale last year for $20. I decided to have it appraised. The owner of the jewelry store offered me $7500.00 for my ring saying in was white gold with 2.2 carats diamond. ....I suddenly woke up 😴 as poor as when I went to bed 🛌 Edit: Thanks for the likes guys
My mom loves costume jewelry too, I know one day when she’s gone I’ll cherish it like you do. Like it’s priceless 💗 glad you have your mums stuff still.
Sorry, dear :-(. My mom had a real diamond that I now have, but I have all her old Avon jewelry and old watches she never got new batteries for as well. Money's not nearly as valuable as memories.
When my grandmother passed, to some of the family's great annoyance, she left me all her jewelry. Some pieces were from the 1920's and were worth a bit of money, but like another commenter said, money's not nearly as valuable as memories. A couple pieces I wear, namely her antique cameo and a pair of opal earrings, but the rest is locked up in my safe.
Before my Grandmother passed away, she asked me what I would like of hers after she was gone and I replied, NaNa, May I Please have Your MaMa’s Beautiful costume jewelry necklace and she had such a funny look on her face when I asked her for that one piece & she said, Mija, why that one & I said, Because it’s was Your MaMa’s & my Great grandmother’s and it’s Lovely. Well she came to tell me also when I asked for that Specific necklace she said it was already 80 Years old when I first wore it back on December 18th, 2002 & now 20 years later, it’s 100 years old. I’ve had Many of people come up to me and ask me where I got my necklace, because they had never seen it’s style and Beauty before & I tell them that it was my Great Grandmother’s Poor girls diamonds 😁🥰😁🥰😁🥰😁🥰😁 I Miss You NaNa 😞😞😞😞
Maybe because I'm old school but, sometimes I enjoy a good story. I enjoyed this and think it's pretty cool to imagine the joy she felt from it turning out to be something that helped her financially in THIS life ;)
I do think it's sweet that she bought it to make herself happy and as a reminder to be positive that she would be ok and the ring was just waiting for her to discover that it was really there to make things better and ok!
Was going say the same, how is she a millionaire if the ring sold for less than 850 thousand, am sorry to be a millionaire its said u need at least 10 million to live of the intrest if thats the case sorry but she's a little off tbh, just a little, not by much, just like £9,150,000 short
Someone in my hometown also had the same incident , she bought a ring for 3$ and went to a jewelry shop and offered her 100,000$ she thought he was joking until she went to another shop who also gave her the same value estimation of that diamond ring and realized later it was the real deal :) i heard she tried to find the real owner of that ring but i dont know what happened.
@@lous.6372 i know right? She realised that ring was either stolen or the owner lost it somehow and tried to give it back to her. She’s a rare diamond herself.
His avid interest was the catalyst that made her finally get the stone appraised after having it for thirty years. I'm wondering if she had let him look at it if he would have taken off with it?
Bernee Martin Yes. He most likely was a thief and recognized good jewelry. No normal legitimate jeweler would chase someone down in a parking garage to get a better look. They would know that it would make the person feel uncomfortable.
She done him in in the subway with her nail file , stashed him down a grid . Made off with his wallet she sold the ring and fled to a country she couldnt be trien .. funny how things turn out 😂😂😂
Don't ever let a jeweler "keep" your ring for several days. Don't ever let a jeweler take your jewelry into the "back room" for appraisal. Don't ever let your jewelry out of your sight. A good Jeweler can appraise your jewelry in front of you & unscrupulous jewelers change out stones all the time! Count the pearls on your necklace before you turn it in to be restrung & have another jeweler appraise and size the pearls before you turn your necklace in to be restrung.
My sister sometimes will go into Goodwill to see what they have in the used dishes area and see if someone has donated something worth $$$!! She has an eye for that. She’ll look it up and buy it if it is and resell it!!!! It’s only hit big-ish a couple of times, but that’s better than nothing!!! You never know what goodies are waiting!!! So many people just donate family members who have passed belongings without seeing what they are worth!
Clarissa, that is how I got my porcelain collection. I went around to goodwills for 6-8 months slowly collecting shabby chic teacups/ tea sets for my wedding. A family member noticed some of their value and they’ve been carefully tucked away ever since!
I love this story. I had a similar circumstance but just a little above 360 thousand 😘 Check your jewelry relatives give you especially those great Grandparents.
If I had written that on paper and turned it in as school work, my teacher would have crossed out everything after the first sentence and before the last sentence. The end.
Wow what a coincidence!! Just now I was standing in the checkout line at wholefoods and this lady was also eyeing my earrings 😂 and she told me those my style of diamond jacket earrings are definitely vintage and quite rare and no one makes those anymore!! Made me want to look into it more so I did a search and found this video and laughed when I heard the similar story. Maybe I should get them appraised... regardless, I ain't auctioning these bad boys off 😎💍💎
I had a similar situation. My grandpa bought a bunch of jewelry in an estate sale. My grandma sent some of it up to me and it turns out one of the rings was a yellow gold/platinum setting with a half carrot diamond. Cut in the late 1800s/early 1900s. Used it as the main stone in my first engagement ring. 💍
They were thieves!!! And they knew it! The ring was mine! Stolen from me by my ex and his girlfriend! 8 years ago. It was my sparkly gift from Jehovah God! I would have never sold it! I loved my ring! Even when I thought it was quartz crystal! It was still real to me!!! Bad karma to them and whoever bought it
LMAO M JK the part when they described her searching for her ring with all the details of where she looked and how stressed she was and how she huffed and puffed then found it next to her toothbrush... lol this was the masterpiece of drawn out story telling
I had an ugly gold cheap looking ring. My uncle gave it to me with some other costume jewelry. I had all my rings in a small bag so i took that bag one day to the pawnshop with intentions of getting a small loan on one to pay a bill. The jewelry appraiser was super interested in that ugly gold ring, come to find out it was solid 18kt gold and a 3kt diamond which he said was one of the clearest diamond he had ever seen, he bought it right then and there for $10,500. To think i had almost thrown it away a few times.... I was so thankful i hadn't.
You were cheated, of course; if he OFFERED you a sum of money, it was worth several times more, that's the way these places operate!! You should have had it appraised, dummy! Well, that's why he's rich and you're not!
@@cherylpemberton1676 I know I did not get what what it was worth had I taken it to a jewelry store I probably would have but I was at a pawn shop and they never give you what it's worth
NEVER EVER let someone follow you out to your car like that. The most likely times you could be attacked are getting into your car and getting through your front door. Go back into the store and ask for a worker to walk with you out. If someone is getting close tell them in a firm voice "you need to keep your distance". Always be overly aware of your surroundings when alone, never turn your back if you see someone, always keep distance as far as possible. People can tell when they know you know your being followed and trying to avoid it.
If I ever need and essay done with 3000 words I’ll definitely ask this dude then I’ll ace the essay (not including how good the essay actually is lol 😂)
My grandparents bought a bunch of boxes of junk at auction and found a loose ring in one box. They tried finding the owner but couldn’t, so they took it to get appraised. Real diamond and gold! I forgot the karat.
One night I told this story to my niece and nephew around a cozy bonfire in the yard. By the time I finished the story a tree grew in its place and my niece and nephew went into retirement…
Jesus. This was ridiculous! This was a simple story. They turned it into a 7:48 min Video. It could have been told in 30-45 seconds. Don't waste your time.
I was thinking the exact same! Why do people feel the need to lie aswel, I thought she became a millionaire? Waited all that time and found out she only got 600k
45 years ago a friend of mine bought a purl and stone layered bracelet for a garage sale for $5.00. It was nice. A friend of ours told here to have it checked out at a jewelry store. She did, come to find out the bracelet was made of salt water purls and diamonds. That it was worth back then for over $30,000.00. You never know what you can pick up at yard, garage or estate sales.
