So are we supposed to ignore all the other times Men have told their GF that they're doing X thing and then he surprises her with something completely different and it turned out great? Or are we only supposed to focus on the negative times. Then on top of that you're applying being told you're going out yet being surprised with a Home Cooked meal (which is healthier, thoughtful and more time inducing) as bad and the "source of ungratefulness"? The last thing is that you're not wrong on the possibility of him having an ulterior motive however he also simultaneously could've just taken the phone out for evidence. I don’t always rock with my guy on the far right, but in this instance I totally agree with him. Also, Capital Grille is where my coworkers and I often went for lunch and we had no dress code in the office, so I’m not one to be pressed. Dude in the video set an expectation and tried to highkey gaslight her. I’m so sadly taken back by the number of women commenting here who cannot see the principle from the woman’s point of view. No! She has a right to expect a man to fulfill his promise. That is called accountability! He just did not fulfill his promise to her. Give him room to explain the last minute change of plans! Maybe something came up at the last minute and he now didn't have money to take her out? That is understandable! Things happen! If no explanation is given, then he lied to her. That is now a new subject matter and a character flaw! Therefore, now you have to take into account that he told her a lie and was deceitful/deceptive. No ill feelings! You don't have to holler and go ballistic! All that fussing is SO not necessary! This is only the second date. He has showed her who he is! Note taken and proceed accordingly. If you give him another chance that is her decision. I would give him another chance to confirm what type of man he is. If this happens again, he is confirming that he is a man who doesn't keep promises! Now, if he forgot what he promised or an emergency came up) he should be man enough to explain why he fell short. He should be man enough to say: You know I am sorry I did not or was not able to fulfill my promise to you. Something came up unexpectedly. (He doesn't have to go into details) I will make it up to you at a later time. That's what a real man says and does. You can work with that! She now knows that he is a man of his word and she can trust him.

I didn't hear anything about him saying he would take her to Capital Grille that night. Maybe it was said in another conversation. She was dressed as if she was expecting something pretty casual.
