Women, Gotta Love Em, But... 

Matt, one time in the summer we had a bunch of chickens die just because of heat... your summers are alot worse than NC summers. You might want to get a game plan for the summer when it gets super duper hot.. we sometimes freeze chuncks of watermelon and give that to cool em off, and freeze ice blocks and put that in their waterers. But the best way is to get em ALOT of shade and ALOT of air circ so they arent baking in the sun or in the coop. And for the winter, you need to just keep them dry and have ok air circulating but not enough to let cold drafts come into the coop.. and bedding will help hold heat in the coop too

Matt if anyone needed a public example of a functional family unit, you have done it. Put the business aside, and even youtube, dude you set a good example for a lot of people that have no idea what that looks like. It's really weird to see everyone grow including you and your wife, because that almost puts our own growth into perspective. Thanks for doing what you do, and secondly thanks for having fun!

Leave a GoPro inside the chicken coop for a couple of hours and make i timelaps for us!

You want the chicken roost bar to be circular so their back claw/toe can wrap around the branch. Use some tree branches from your property, 2"-3" in diameter are perfect. Also trim off any nubs to make it smooth. They will feel more stable and sleep better. The roost box could use a ramp. Some chicken will fly and other would prefer to walk. Also. +1 to Anniecam

Cooping authority here.... the long doors on the side of the coop are for pulling out the "dropping tray" you can make a wide tray under the perch, or covering a majority of the interior if you want, so that periodically you can open it up and slide the tray out, cleaning the poop and putting new bedding down.

Our nests were 3 feet off the floor. Chickens loved it. They can flap there wings once and were in the nest. Our roost was made of 3 inch logs. Chickens roosted every night also 3 feet off the floor. A vent in the roof is also needed if you don’t have one. Air flow through it in summer is required.

The wall that the nesting boxes are on should be complete because the yellow jackets and other washes and hornet will Shaw enough build in the gap

only problem with those walls is now wasps have yet another place to build a nest, and you wont see the nests...

Hey Matt! Three things chickens can get up to both the roost and the perch and we have found that straw works as a GREAT bedding for the chickens.

Hey Matt, you could use the doors on the sides of the coop to assist with removing the soiled bedding from the floor of the coop. Provided you cut the wall panels to accommodate the doors available on the side of the coop.

Chickens need wood shavings that way if they jump off their roost they will land softly and it will also help clean their droppings.

Matt the boxes don't need to be below roosts ours are a staircase leading up to the boxes and you should get watering nipples and put them in pvc pipe connected to the barrels we also have thick tubes with 90 degree elbows at the bottom leading into the coupe for food

you can just use the doors to empty the nesting material when it needs to be changed out.

Yes and yes I would add another 2x4 so the chickens aren't as crowded and you only need 1 nesting box per 5 chickens

They will have no problem jumping up into those nesting boxes. I have chickens. They have a hell of a vertical jump. Lol

Chicken advice from Poland. Chiken loves branches. Put round stic- you will see:). For roost box- always leave 1 egg. they will make more eggs next days.

Our roosts were old wooden ladders or 2x4 vertical so they can hang on.

If you need extra storage space, you could always turn the doors into shelves if your not gonna use them

I always like seeing people showing off their pretty chicken coops. Then they find that the chickens poop on everything. Matt, you Mere, and the kids are in our prayers daily. Keep up the good parenting.

I'd use the door under the roost for clean out. Just rig something up to shovel everything out through the door. Flip it around to open up instead of down.

Might build a metal tray out of galvanized metal to catch the poop under the roosts. That way you can drag it outside and hit it with a hose. If you had a concrete floor you could use the door at the floor previously intended for removing eggs for washing the poop out

Now, make a pivotal perch for the front of them nesting boxes that you can close them boxes at even tide. Roost bars, rounded sir rounded! Boxes are for eggs,not sleeping. I do really like the boxes though!

I feel like the website or company that built this should’ve informed you on the right and wrong way to design chicken coops.

So cool if you could make the space for the eggs to gather in the middle by a sloped funnel through which they would all drop to one space without cracking. My mind begins attempting to synchronize the function of RESULT as soon as I observe.

My chickens like a bit of privacy so i cut a hole in a 15 gallon pot and put it in the corner

An easy clean up is laminate flooring at a small angle out a little door.

The 2X4 is the wrong way, and chickens need roosting height that 19" to 22" high. I'm JK I'm from Chicago and know nothing about chickens, thumbs up

Hey Matt (and mar), I've been a fan of DemolitionRanch since the beginning on a few different RU-vid accounts and recently became a large fan of OffTheRanch. I just wanted to let you know that I'm very proud of your success and I enjoy watching it happen. I finally went over to Ranch Merch and got a T-shirt Camo hat, Christmas Sweatshirt and a few stickers! If it wasn't for you and your very positive outlook and great personality I probably wouldn't care a whole lot about guns... maybe..lol. I recently picked up an AR-15 and a rum mag for it, a trusty mossberg 12 gauge shotgun and a smith and wesson M&P 45 2.0. Anyway keep it up and can't wait to wear the merch and show it off up here in Wisconsin. As a side note.... I know your doing very well on the Demoranch channel but don't slack off on video production.. I've noticed it's been getting a little relaxed haha Take care buddy!

Chicken coop looks good so far, however you may want to cover the windows with storm plastic sheeting for t he colder months to keep the warmth in there. Also you realize that the "ladies" will probably stop laying eggs temporarily duing the coldest months, then resume again in the spring...

I think the roost is two low put another up above that one. And maybe a rail in front of the nest boxes.

you should probably put a vent fan on the end towards the top your coop to keep in cool in there for them any farm and home store should have them like a 12"x 12" fan thermostatically controlled and a light or two for the little girls would be cool also. like a cheap LED strip light. for when they collect the eggs. :)

One quick tip, build stuff with screws and an impact gun, makes for waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy easier disassembly, just sos ya knows.
