I'm sure many of them are. The wording of the question makes the saving sound like it is more temporary while retirement savings are super long term and don't jump out to may when they think of what short/fairly short-term goal they are currently saving for.

Why? College isnt just about making money. I had a great experience, met friends I'll have for life. And I make a stable income because of it, no where close to 1.3mill but I'm happy with it :)
@@mimik9752 Because it is, you can't rely on that small chance of success, always figured that even if I one day decide to leave my stable job behind and have my shot at a startup I'll make sure to first have my PhD in the back to carry me when I'll need it most.
J. A. Thank you. The main reason was to lower my taxable income due to not having too many deductions. Now that the standard deduction is higher, I’m rothing it instead.
Cinthya Perez I was contributing 20%. My employer matches 5%. I started with 10%. Then went to 15% then 20%. I also don’t use the Target date fund as much for my asset allocation. I put like 10% of my money in Large Cap Funds, 10% in Value Funds, 10% small index fund, 5% foreign equity etc. Nothing with bonds I want it to grow a lot. I don’t care if it goes down in value in a down turn because I do not need the money now. I need the tax benefits now.
@@SSS-pm1do Exactly + it`s 2 vacations and they didn't mention if it's 1 or 2 week vacation (or longer?). it means 5-7,5k$ per vacation. That`s not too bad. Last vacation I was on, was 400€ for the trip + 600€ spending money for 1 week for myself alone and that was a cheap group vacation. The one before that was around 600-700€ for 2 weeks + spending money which I don't remember how much I used as I don't budget my trips so accurately. I just look a bit that I don't buy anything stupidly expensive that I don't need etc.
@@65EKS65 But unless you are self employed, no one gets more than 2 weeks of vacation time...and that's after working 10 years. After 20+ years in a very good job you might get 3 weeks.
Jacob Hammond It’s all about how you use and abuse money. I have $1k in credit card debt that I can pay off within 30 days if I want, I make $40k-$50k a year. Keep it under 1% of your income and you won’t be under like her. Women think it’s free money and that they have to get all those travel miles and points so they spent $10k a year for points and miles worth $2k. That’s why credit card companies make so much money.

Some people are just like that. I have a family member who has a high end job making a million and year and he is constantly worried about money because he doesn't have any self control and can't manage it well for himself. And to be honest besides a nice house and car he doesn't have any thing to show for it. And more than likely he never will.
Savings and investments are different. Many people who are barely making it don’t think of saving let alone investing (real estate, stocks, business ventures etc). They spoke specifically about saving. May they are investing their money. Many of the wealthy advice to invest over saving (ie; letting your money just sit in a basic non interest bearing account.) If you are investing you always have money coming in a savings account doesn’t benefit you at that level.

I stayed at my parents till I was 26 years old, worked everyday. At a young age my mom taught me how important it is to save. I moved out where I don’t have to worry about any bills and I can buy myself things I need, currently looking to buy a house. Take advantage and live with your parents while you save up.
im now 22 live in belgium. Im a piping engineer/piping mechanical project manager. Now i make 2550 a month wich totals up 30.6K euros, i bought my appartment 3 months ago. Save up Be smart! At 44yo this appartment is fully payed off. Use your mind, don't be dumb like many and spend it on useless things

um have you hung out with a doctorate? they may know their field but lack extreme common sense. most are afraid to socialize and can't fill out a travel form.

Sure it's not "easy" because it takes effort to fill out paperwork, but it's pretty simple if you go to a medicaid office for help. All state's offer medicaid to those above or below 133% of federal poverty line, depending on the state she lives in. It's worth looking into as opposed to remaining uninsured.
Saving is possible at any of these salary levels. All it takes is discipline, figuring out your budget/where your money is actually going, and your WHY.
Depends on where you saving for if you need a lot it can take for years and years you can decide to just not do it and spend your money on whatever makes you happy right now
Even doing it by a small % rather than a specific amount is good! Like $5 a week or $20 a week depending on the salary and expenses. I know many people can’t afford to save because they live paycheck to paycheck but to those who can spare a few bucks, try to save! It’s a good habit to get into.
a lot of people take the “buy stuff i can, not need” route, but the girl saving for retirement is really smart. and at some point, rich people become poor because they buy all the things they end up not being able to afford later.
Studied 4 years. 75k in student loans. I earn less than 18k.. 25k is the amount you need to earn to pay back student loans. 6% interest on that 75k a month. I'm screwed with debt for life 😂

20% down on a $600,00 house is $120,000. Putting $100,00 down won't put a dent on your monthly payments. I guess she didn't have many options to buy a less expensive house. But she's doing great financially
In California (Bay Area and LA) that’s below the average cost of a house and most have to super commute because they don’t make enough to afford rent or mortgage in the metro areas. It’s ridiculous. A two bedroom house in Silicon Valley can be well over $1mill.

I make like 18k a year (I’m a student n live with my parents tho) and I have like 6k saved. I think having a savings is really important and after you break out of like 1k it becomes kinda addictive. I hope to be able to move out without stress after I graduate are 24 or maybe like at 23 if the circumstances are right. I know it’s hard but I encourage those who can save to please save but not too much that it’s dulls your life. Like take the money that you won’t really miss every paycheck, say 200 per month, would save you 2,400 at the end of the year! It’s good to have something saved for emergencies
Victoria Scurlock I’m supposed to be going there next month 😁. I have a friend who’s living there who will let me stay with her for a week. All I have to save for the airfare. If I had the expense of accommodations there’s no way I’d be able to afford to go.
Editorknowsbest I guess it depends on what city you’re going to. I’ve been looking at hotels and you can get someone thing really nice for way less than what it would cost you in the US. Or you could go the hostel route for less than $20/day
I am a physician and what they wrote is way above average for an ER doctor. Maybe she works a lot of overtime or works in a rural area where doctors are paid more. Definitely won't see 400k if you are working 40 hours per week in a desirable city.
I'm 22, I got a really good job as soon as I finished college and for someone with no experience in the field (when I entered the company), I won A LOT more than I thought. Here in Mexico you could say that is a really great payed job, but comparing it to what this girls won in a year, I just won barely 10K USD in a year. And that's a good job here in Mexico

I only make 23,000 a year and I have 30k in savings and 10k in retirement. I think its ridiculous that most of these women don’t even have an emergency fund.
I make just over $80k and have about $30k saved. Try living in a city where the average house price is $1.2million and see how far you get with those ‘savings’

Im "noncommitally" saving for retirement, my own apartment, a house one day and kids, and i guess my student loans. And emergencies. Its so stressful i cant even admit to it lol so i just say "yea i save a little".

Tako da nemas pravo pisat meni ovdje kako serem i izigravati nekog mangupa jer ocigledno nisi u istoj situaciji sto mi je i drago.
Not true at all. That’s like trying to sell 1,000,000 items to 1,000,000 people for $1. An easier way to make a million is by selling 10 houses each making you $100,000 which again, isn’t realistic. Buy and rent out a bunch of properties that build up your monthly income. Making $70,000 a month as of now, looking to make more later.
its all about risk. people go to college for a sure-fire way to (usually) make decent money. entrepreneurs and entertainers often have much less security in that regard, and often have very rocky beginnings. much higher risk, but much higher reward ceiling.
This is sad. I have been saying for years we need a Money Management class in high school instead of that crappy Economics class they make you take Senior year. Here is a quick tip: at the very least save 3 months worth of what you pay in bills in case you suddenly lose that salary. SACRIFICE & SAVE IT! ....I believe in you.
