love the 400. Short enough to see some real speed. Long enough to truly experience the race before you realize they've already crossed the finish line.

@keunaedwards6788
@keunaedwards6788 8 лет назад
+Lauren Clark it's called a stagger I think. if everyone starts at the same place then each person would have a longer distance to run. so say the person in lane 4 starts the same place as the person in lane 1, the person in lane 4 would have additional running to do. as you can see the track has curves and of course all curves aren't as equal. hope this help

but the 800 the runners can pace themselves a little bit and play coy with each other. No time for that in the 400 and the last 100 is like hitting a wall but you run on will like you have a gun to your head. The 400 is a nightmare.

That poor Russian girl. She came off the curve in 1st and just got out powered. She looked so devastated.

"Poor Russian Girl"? You don't think the other black girls who didn't win were devastated also?
@quadbravo
@quadbravo 10 лет назад
RORORO999 First, what's with the color card? These are athletes/people. I don't care what color they are. My point is that the Russian girl came off the corner in 1st and got 6th. That's just a very tough pill to swallow and to that point "she looked devastated". That comment stands on it's own. She's on the side of the track weeping. I'm sure the others were disappointed. Sure. No one else is on the side of the track weeping.

I have to KINDLY disagree. Two upsets that come to mind when the race was clearly won are Richards-Ross, 08 London, running out of gas in the last 50 meters when she had the gold all but around her neck only to finish 3rd, and Lolo Jones, same Olympics clipping the second to last hurdle, finishing second to last in 7th place.

Dear Sanya! I want to thank you so much for being such a great role model and inspiration. Motivation and inspiration comes and goes, but you have been my motivation since I first saw you until today. All your accomplishments are beyond measure but what really leaves me in awe is the message behind them. You gave me the faith to believe and trust and that in the end it is not so much about what you get but who you become. Your road to Rio only prooved how powerful the human spirit can be and how powerful you really are was shining through the way you handled the situation after your last race. In life nothing lasts forever so to be able to take everything as an opportuninty no matter what you are against up, for me , is a heroic act and exactely the way I want to live my life. Thank you for showing me what it means to be your best version day in day out. You commited, you persevered and you finished with grace. I wish you all the best with every fiber of my being! And I am sure that you will continue to push-pace-position and poise (pray). Sorry for my english it is not my mother tangue. Janette

I'm a collegiate NAIA athlete and run the 400m in the low 49's (that's not very good, but I've only included that information for credibility). Our fastest female 400m runner runs a 58, and she has a very respectable track scholarship. This is not a cheap school, either. I guarantee you your friend already has schools looking to recruit her. A time of 58 seconds as a sophomore in high school is fantastic and she will undoubtedly have many schools who want her, to be able to choose from.

I don't think any one really pay attention to Dee-Dee Trotter.That ladie career has been up and down for the longest but this was her first Olympic Record and she has been running track for way over 7 years at least.

Sanya ran a 49.56. In the 4x4 final, Felix ran her leg at 47.9. Felix set an Olympic record with her leg. LOL! This next year or so is going to be interesting with Felix running the 200 and the 400 now.

Justin Cartwright The clock showed that Felix run 48.85s for her leg

Justin Cartwright, you can't compare a split to a straight up event time. well, you can but it's not the same.

No she didn't. Olga Bryzgina also ran a 47.9 leg in Seoul 88' against Flo Jo. Felix tied Bryzgina leg.

+Justin Cartwright i agree that Felix ran a great leg, but you gotta remember she had a running start, which makes the relay splt time about 0.5s faster than a standard 400m race.

'Running start' was the reason for freak 47.80 split in 4X400. But yes she is just a great baton carrier..:)

Dee Dee could have won the race. But she took this huge burst of speed a bit too early, and then she ran out of real estate. She should've waited until she was closer to the last turn. kudos to Sonya, though. She ran a very intelligent race.

no no majority of Jamaica athletes train on the island because they realized that whenever our athletes train in USA they drain the athletes of their strength because the coaches there only really care about the college career and not what happens in their future so we realise that and now most of our athletes train here in Jamaica
