Of course it's not the case that "Ju Wenjun did not have time to play the rook takes d1", but I believe she was worried after Rxd1, white plays Qxh6 and threatens Nf6 mating idea. That's why she played g5. With only few seconds on the clock, she must have missed after Rxd1, Qxh6, she has Rxe4! to prevent the mating net and gain an advantage. Surprisingly, after black's Rd8, white's only chance is to play Qa3 to keep the queen on the a3-f8 diagonal, and after black's Rxd1, white plays Nf6+ and Ne8+ for an perpetual check. Any other option loses for white.

it's not about clock time it's about the game , if she took the rook white would play Qxh6 and it's almost mate , so there was no time to win the rook

Probably he didnt look at the game before, for the excitement and entertainment. So he didnt realize the situation. Plot twist she also didnt understand at first. Then she found the queen move.

@@mnm1273 You saw the game, right? She can't move the rook on time because of the time constraint. If you can't move a piece from a1 to h8 range in time, then some thing is wrong with the timer. And she's got that problem with only just 8 space apart vertically. In online this can be fixed with pre moving, but OTB should have different rules as you need to move piece and slam the timer.
