Honestly chantel might have actually spent more than the indian girl... I live in mumbai and she bought the binoculars from 'chor bazar' which is famous for cheap antiques. And the side bag would not have cost her more than ₹300. Things are cheaper in India. Do visit once and you'll know.

I think the effort is worth far more than the actual monetary value of these items. Therefore I think Chantel cheated the girl from India when it comes to the box she sent her. The Indian girl put in so much more time and effort than Chantel did, money aside. Especially when the company gave them a budget and Chantel didn't have to spend her own money on said items.

Please never have Chantel do this again, born and raised IN LA but put together the most boring box? I will personally send Aishwarya a box from my boring small town but with amazing gifts that really show the differences in our cultures! Aishwarya's box was beautiful in comparison to Chantel's road kill package. Even Chantel's reactions were as boring as her box.

Honestly. I was disappointed just looking at the comparisons of them shopping. While to show Indian culture she went down the actual streets and to nice specialty shops, Chantal just went to the equivalent on Kohls and got everything in what I assume was less than 2 hours and 2 stores. She wasn't thinking about showing the culture of LA, or what someone else would want. Instead Chantel just grabbed what she would have wanted or would have usually gotten. So cheap and flexible day to day stuff that she probably spotted on those random isles at literally any store. Seriously, that challenge was lame too. It was just a cop out to say "I don't know your size and I already got the sunglasses so...."

I don't know. I like in Mumbai, and I'd know where to get that stuff pretty easily. Chantel's gifts were really personal and thoughtful! Cultural exchange isn't just like, yay now I can get firangi makeup or whatever, it's about ideas and perspectives and tastes, yes? Even if she could've got say, the sunglasses, over here, she never would've! And most Indians would never!

But at the same time there are different people out there and one person might think you should spend money on gifts while another thinks it's the thought that counts and doesn't like expensive ones. I myself don't like expensive gifts. I put a lot of thought into it, but spending large amounts of money to me does not equal good gifts. You have to buy gifts FOR the person. I think they both did good. If I were to receive spicy stuff, the bag, the face mask (I'm vegan and it's more than likely not), I would not be as thrilled as she was and would not find those things fitting for me. They both clearly did (apart from the sunglasses which seemed scary to her, but she then got to realize that they actually look really good on her and everyone liked them). Edit: whether or not the gifts were good is a different question, but I don't think money needs to be a part of it.

@@shraddha8890 It's OK no one knew. I wouldn't have known if I didn't see Chantel's response on a different comment. But she said she didn't produce or edit this video so she didn't have much say about what got put into the final cut. But I think if they continue doing this series they need to give us more details about the "rules." That way those of us watching know that a challenge was supposed to be in each box and it's not just a cop out gift as well as knowing there is in fact a budget to stick to.

I think that's what's bothering me more than anything is her crappy attitude. She seemed nice in her other videos. But here, she just seemed like she didn't want to do the project and was doing it as some kind of gracious favor. She should've just said no, if that was the case.
