Hey everyone thanks for checking out the review I really enjoyed this simple remake mostly because I enjoy the original so much. If the original arcade gameplay was something you didn't enjoy then you won't enjoy this one.
Played this every day in the arcade before school. I started off spending half my dinner money and being on time for registration. After a few months of gitting gud I was spending just 10p and receiving a late mark every day. Totally worth it. 1986... Seems like yesterday.
Love Wonder Boy, but I'll stick with the original on my Master System. Not a fan of the cheap flash game artstyle. 15 dollars is just too much, for such a cheap looking game. Rather save my money for the new Monster Boy game.
While I was watching this I was having adventure island flashbacks because everything you were saying about the game applied to that except that remember how in that game it was the eggplant that drained the health? Yeah I got that vibe Still doesn't look like a bad game though and I definitely dug the Adventure Island series so that is also something to look at if someone wants to get this game for sure
The original Wonder Boy paved the way for the Adventure Island franchise by Hudson Soft. Wonder Boy would continue as a side scrolling Zelda clone that would eventually become the Monster World series with new protagonists. Wonder Boy 3 also has a HD remaster with a more refined art style, but is also getting a spiritual successor known as Monster Boy in the Cursed Kingdom. Meanwhile, Adventure Island has been dormant since the WiiWare remake. There was also going to be a WiiWare remake of Bonk, but that ended up getting cancelled.
For one remake is very important to REMAKE everything like the original product If you make every stage and everything single opponent like the master system ones and then you change me completely the bosses .... this product is unacceptable.. sorry but I am a lover of wonder boy! I wanna see the same body’s monster and changing every defeat own head!
I'm also playing this for review, and I was kinda surprised you didn't mention the $15 pricetag. I mostly agree with your review, but I feel that the steep price may be worth a mention since on the Wii VC you can get the arcade game for $10
Nishant Sengar you mean Adventure Island? the history is a bit convoluted but basically Hudson Soft got the rights to make a Wonderboy port from Escape (now known as Westone) but escape sold the rights to Sega midway and Hudson Soft lost the rights... so they changed it up, made TomTom into Master Higgins and released it as Takahashi Meijin, aka Adventure Island instead.
I'm a huge fan of Wonder Boy and the whole franchise, but this Flashlook just feels wrong. Does it at least play exactly like the original and has all the original levels?
Those skeleton heads (skulls) have traumatized me for years. Those are the most difficult enemies in this series to avoid. Mainly because they put them in the darndest spots. Even in the Adventure Island games. I can't count how many times I got killed because of those skulls. I don't think I ever made it to the end of any Adventure Island games because of the skulls.
Oh wow I forgot we were getting this. I saw the title and was thinking it's Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom lol. I never played the original Wonder Boy/Adventure Island but think I would have fun with it so I think I will pick this up later, nice review. For now all I'm going to be playing is Persona though, then Yooka Laylee and Cosmic Star Heroine come out next week. So many games!
man your reviews were always so concise and on point. hope you're doing well out there. Wonder Boy is on sale on PSN for half off, definitely going to pick it up.
How do you unlock Tina? I bought this game after playing Dragon's Trap remake, and boy am I disappointed. I already knew it wasn't going to be like that one, as I'd played the original on SMS but man the gulf in quality is big.
This looks like a pretty cool remake of Wonder Boy, but for $15 USD, are you kidding me? Double Dragon Neon has WAY more playability, extras, and it 50 percent cheaper. This game looks like a mobile game and is not worth more than $5 in my honest opinion.
Half price right now. Wanted it for months, waited for Steam sale. Finally got it. But I played it for an hour and requested a refund. Unlike Dragon's Trap, this one's gameplay does not hold up.
Ah this takes me back. I mostly played the game gear version not the best game for the system or even the best one in the franchise imo but solid and fun enough.
I must admit so many happy memories playing the original I will get this for sure but I will wait when it's in the sale more likely while there is so many good games out.
@@CornshaqGaming No biggie. I didn't even know this game existed, then heard that StrictlyLimitedGames is releasing it physically for PS4, then checked out your review to see if it was any good or not, your channel is an amazing archive of indie reviews and I appreciate what you do.
