When did South Korea become what it is now? Back to 70s it seems there was not much difference with N. Korea.

@@swarooprajpurohit110 the 60s actually, though the effects were visible a decade later, in 1961 miracle of han river started. After that from 70s to 80s the gdp per capita grew from $200+ to $1700+ withi ten years, after 1980s the growth paced down during the 2nd millitary rule, it again started to grow after democracy came in 1987.
