Three types of gotra- Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
Brahma created 108 descendants and various sects of people started following these descendants (gothraja viz Bharadwaja, Vishwamitra etc).
Some people worshipped only Shiva and hence their gothra is Shiva.
Remaining set of people worshipped only Vishnu and hence Vishnu gothra.
Reasons for no growth and prosperity in life:
1. We should never stop worshipping out gothraja and insult them by getting into intercaste marriages.
2. Parents are the ones from whom we have come to life. If we hurt parents, their curse will make sure that whatever you earn never remains in your hands.
3. One should never hurt/torture/kill snakes and its offsprings/eggs or destroy the anthill where snake resides as its a divine place. This will kill your prosperity.
4. One should not stop worshipping Kuladevaru (God worshipped by ancestors) will also spoil growth and prosperity.
5. If Kuladevi worship is stopped, then the dynasty will never grow further as there won't be any offsprings in the family.
6. Never forget the Guru who has given knowledge and shown the path of righteousness.
Remedy: As per Dattatreya Samhita, do Guruseva to Dattatreya. Converse, prostate and be in the vicinity of the Guru to get rid of all Gothra related shapas as Dattatreya is the culmination of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva
