Never noticed that the faces on the sun and moon picture in the bizarre room looked like tweedle dee and tweedle dum. Only kh1 can keep giving me these new things!!!
Not sure if anyone pointed this out but during the tower crank battle, your actually able to fight the queen of hearts directly as she has a small health bar, U cant kill her but can knock her the fluck out! I didnt know this until like last year after replaying 1.5
As a kid this world seemed so much bigger, but when you get older and start to learn how the world works, it feels so much smaller and contained which I do prefer the feeling of. The inter-connectivity makes it feel more tightly designed, which is something I wish more KH worlds did.
I know you said that Kingdom Hearts 1 has become a bit dry to talk about, but I believe there is much more than can be used in a video. For example, could you consider making a video like this? 10 scene changes in Kingdom Hearts 1 that are less frequently seen... Some examples: 1. If you lock the Keyhole in Deep Jungle before Alice gets kidnapped during the Card Soldier fight in Wonderland, Snow White is shown in the scene with Maleficent instead of Alice, since Alice is still in Wonderland during the scene. This affects some dialog after locking Wonderland, such as when Goofy says "This gummi block is just like the one we found in the jungle" instead of the "This gummi block is not like the others, no sir" or something like that. 2. This one I have not personally tried, but I am convinced that it is a scene change that I haven't watched yet. Because Olympus Coliseum is not a required world to lock, Cerberus can technically be defeated after the Rescue. If you fight Cerberus after the Rescue, his health bar will be at magenta instead of yellow, and, more importantly, the scene that follows with Hades having his little "show" is supposed to feature Maleficent, who, after the rescue, will have already been defeated. I have not explored this one, as I have never cared to wait around until after defeating Riku-Ansem just to fight a buffed up Cerberus and simultaneously not be able to fight in the Phil, Pegasus, and Hercules cups on the speculation that a scene change might occur. I suppose you could always try this after defeating Dragon Maleficent and before facing off against Riku-Ansem, but in any case, I'm curious to see how the scene would be affected/skipped. Mind you, this would also mean not getting Gravity until locking Halloween Town and not getting Strike Raid, Metal Chocobo, Olympia, yellow trinity, or Sonic Blade until much later. 3. It took me playing KH1 at least a half dozen times before realizing that you could talk with Pinocchio before arriving at Monstro. I never understood how Donald knew his name until finally watching this optional scene in Traverse Town. The fact that this scene is optional boggles my mind, considering the plot point that Pinocchio somehow manages to get from Traverse Town to Monstro but the player is only informed of this if they are paying enough attention at the right time and speak with Pinocchio in Traverse Town first. 4. This one is smaller, but I recently discovered that you don't get yellow trinity until after you win ALL three cups, not just the Hercules Cup. While introducing a friend to Kingdom Hearts, he completed the Phil Cup and then the Hercules Cup and then the Pegasus cup. The dialog that Hercules says after defeating him, "Wow! And I didn't even hold back!" was placed into a text box instead of dialog and then the remaining text boxes that are meant for the dialog after the corresponding cup number will follow. In this specific order, the text box said "Wow! and I didn't even hold back!" and Sora said "Does Strength of Heart have something to do with it?" and at the end Phil says "If you have to ask, you're not a true hero yet." "Stop talking in riddles!" "It's not a riddle!" After defeating the Pegasus Cup, Hercules, instead of saying "Wow! And I didn't even hold back!" says "Sora, you've really gotten strong!" and the familiar scene follows. It is a little one, but very interesting at that. 5. Another small one, but some of them are worth exploring. Any fight that you can participate in where losing the fight does not result in a game over contains scenes that are slightly different than the more favorable scenes that occur from winning. Obviously there are the ones from Destiny Islands that are cringe worthy at the very least, such as Selphie mocking you saying "Better luck next time!" but then there are the ones that are slightly more enjoyable, such as losing to Sabor in the first fight before Tarzan enters the scene; this one in my opinion makes Tarzan's rescue to Sora more powerful, instead of Sora having the upper hand and running out of steam and needing help from Tarzan so Sabor doesn't ambush him. Losing to Leon yields a Yuffie-like comment from Yuffie that is kind of amusing in the same way that it is when beating Leon causes her to say "Aww, you're sllipping, Leon!" In Olympus, losing to Cloud is a possibility, but with little changes. The only scene that I know of that losing doesn't change anything is in the Awakening Scene. You can lose to the Darkside, but the scene as far as I was able to tell, remains unchanged except that you don't get the 18 xp points that usually boosts your level. Anyway, this is all that I can think of off the top of my head, but I would love to see you make a video that includes this kind of thing.
I’ve never done it myself, but you’re right and the scene with Hades is cut differently so that Maleficent never appears. Another is if you play through Monstro after beating Riku-Ansem, when Sora comes across Riku he will say something like “you’re not Riku!”
I was always the most fascinated by Kingdom Hearts' 1 attention to detail and level building, I'm so glad to see someone else be as interested in it as I am! Keep up the good work and, most importantly, have fun yourself!
Need to go back to Wonderland now because you helped me remember that I forgot to interact with the book and teddy bear and clock as a normal sized Sora most recently. I think that this world is very hard and confusing the first time you go to it, since there's little reason to where you should go and what you should do, but I love the interactivity and all of the optional content in it.
the interactivity is a big reason i personally think kingdom hearts is perhaps the best game ever made, at least the best in the series. it feels like the worlds are alive, and there are so many rewards for exploring. none of the other games do that, and it's lame because it gives them so much charm. i always liked the box rooms personally. i think it wouldn't be wonderland if the rooms were more realistic, and they can get away with it because wonderland is essentially just a dream. for the next video about olympus coliseum, one thing you can add since there's not much to say, in the actual coliseum, the stands are always empty but you hear people cheering sometimes. it's because the audience is the gods. i feel like a lot of people may not realize that and it's never really explained in so many words, but there are plenty of hints about it throughout the series. it's not just the traditional lack of npcs in the series, as you touched on in this video, there is actually a reason!
One thing is that it makes you feel is the joy of having your friends with you and the strenght we shared between Sora, Donald and Goofy. Whenever you are in battle or walking around, that beautiful traverse town theme makes you feel in a true adventure to save everyone and the loneliness you feel in dark worlds (as in, worlds being attacked by heartless) makes our drive to save people stronger.
I think the Bizarre Room is at least partially based on the original version of the Alice in Wonderland attraction at Disneyland. It originally had an "upside down room" scene which looked pretty similar to the Bizarre Room in this game. It was removed in 1984 when they overhauled the ride. You can find pictures of it online.
Wonderland's one of my favorite worlds to revisit at later points in the game. Once you get more movement abilities the place seriously expands, and becomes one of the most fun places for treasure hunting.
There are few people who have a smooth voice like his, fewer who love kingdom hearts and he posses both of these important qualities and makes videos about it, also he conveys information in such a charismatic way... I’m so lucky to be alive in the same time as he does this, it’s great
Wonderland is my least favorite world in KH1. It's just... so... FLAT! And boring. And short too. there's only like 5 rooms. technically more because of how the bizarre room works, but i still dont like it. The boss fight is pretty cool, but the massive arena is kinda wasted with how limited The Trickster traverses it.
i loved this world just due to how unique it was. it was unique and i enjoyed the different sides of the Bizarre Room as well as the fun hidden spots with the flowers. thank you for headlining the newfound appreciation for KH1’s level design
Am I the only person who thinks that Kingdom hearts would have it's most popular game to date if it actually backtracked the graphics back to KH1/2 level, and instead of spending most of the available space for the game on graphics, they just crammed like 25 massively explorable worlds (let's say 60% Disney, 20% final fantasy, and 20% pure KH themed worlds) completely packed with secrets and general stuff to do? Add in a slightly more reactive combat system, something that starts off at least as complex as the typical higher level endgame stuff and let it grow from there (less reaction commands, more options in terms of spells, blocks, parries, and dodged) and finally evolve the movement to take advantage of the 3d space better with stuff like flying/hovering, dashing, rolling, and maybe short range teleports (blink/flash step for my fellow RPG/MMORPG nerds) and personally I think they'd have a perfect game, honestly I was perfectly fine with the graphics of KH1 and 2, I really didn't think they needed a "more realistic overhaul"
Oh no! The flashbacks! The flashbacks! I spent hours trying to figure this world out and the first time I tried to play this game I have up on the game after way to long of this level
I really like the boxiness of the world. It really fits the quirky vibe of Wonderland and of KH1 in general and makes the world stand out among from the others in the way Wonderland should. I think they chose to do it because they didn’t feel like they could do justice to the weirdness of Wonderland otherwise. I mean you would think if they could do Deep Jungle as a regular world they would be able to do Wonderland too
I like the way how the backgrounds are just simple textures there, almost like you're in some madman's home, with a resident each making a room their own. The Queen has a single room, and I can see her being this mad lad who wanted her whole own kingdom, and so her knights simply painted a room to trick her. "This is the Queen's room! The Queen, the wisest of us all!" "This is a basement." "Having wisdom doesn't make you smart."
Another awesome kh1 video man! I always kinda liked the “box” rooms like it makes it feel like you’re just on an acid trip or something and goes with what you said about “it doesn’t have to make sense cuz it’s wonderland.” I also always loved Trickmaster, he always felt really creepy and weird to me and the boss music sounds intimidating and bad ass lol
It looks like you missed a thing. After gravity get wonky in the Bizare Room, you are able to turn the facet that you previously had to stand on to get an evidence piece... doing so will make water poor down and cause the drawing of that Pot below it to pop up, where it can serve as a weird one-way door to a spot on the Queen's courtroom that has a chest on it...... though it seems like you already got that chest with the help of High-jump and glide. Oh, Hey, you got it! Glad I kept watching. :)
What I've always found strange about this world is that it's not even a real place in its origin film, and yet somehow Sora, Donald, and Goofy can visit it.
Just a question. Why are you using an xbox one to play kingdom hearts? The game was originally designed for a playstation and I believe that's the true original way to play the game. Great content by the way!!!
Quidnunc, haha very true but then again he must have had a PlayStation because kingdom hearts used to be an exclusive. Unless he just started playing recently.
Hmm, I kind of wish you could have shown the world with all the contents still present, but probably too much of a time commitment to get those game states. This is kinda why I have a new save after every world, lol.
Yeah I can understand that, but I'm not really too worried about showing all the chests and such, as long as I can get into every room and look at the details that are permanent
I've loved this world so much i actually DID notice these details! the music, the weirdness and colours..the Trickmaster was my favourite boss alongside Darkside
I only really know a lot about the numbered ones, it wouldn't be right for me to talk about the others until I've had more experience with them. And KH3 I used to do videos on and I got a bit fed up of it. Also, level design is my main thing and KH1 has the most to talk about there.
@@NovayonKH I really like your commentary on kh1fm, you're really good at it I think. It would be awesome if you did every game. Keep it up I'm not hating.
